[attr="class","bw-r-img"] [attr="class","bw-r-name"]festival of the moon [attr="class","bw-r-fade"] [attr="class","bw-r-border"] [attr="class","bw-r-bg"] [attr="class","bw-desc"]description The festival of the moon originates from an old story told about a powerful deity who watched over those who died in this world. It was said that this godlike figure channeled the moon to strip those who perished of their pain, but not their name or memory. Thus the festival of the moon was created to celebrate the passing of the dead and all of the hardships that surround it. Its focus aims on the good memories of those lost, not the bad ones.
For a limited time only, the Otsukimi Tower is way more lively than usual. Lights, fireworks and merchant carts cover the location just for the festivities. Dances and games are scattered about for players and other in-game characters to participate in. Inside the actual structure remains silent for those who wish to make their prayers to those lost. While most of the characters in the area are from Kuniumi, there's several others who travel miles just to join in on the event.
There's two ways to go about this event, and the choice is yours to make. You can either reply to this thread and join in on the group, or make something much more private with a separate thread. Each type has their own rules, but if you do both, you get two rewards instead of one. The focus of this event should be on those you lost in the previous raid, or other player deaths before it. Other than that, join in the festivities any way you wish.
main thread requirements • post three times in this thread with at least two posts in between • mention one other player and what they're doing each post • first two players don't have to mention anyone in first post • give a quick summary of your post within your post somewhere • feel free to keep posting after three posts • claim rewards in the 'notify us' thread • event end date - 06/02
private thread requirements • make a new thread in Otsukimi Tower with someone else • make sure the title has something related to the festival • 5 posts each about the festival • claim rewards in the 'notify us' thread • end date to make a new thread - 06/02 • end date to claim rewards - 07/02

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It was weird, the way deaths that had been happening from the beginning were actually being acknowledged. There was something eerie about just how in tune the npc's were with what was going on around them, some of them better able to read a room than the player base. He couldn't really wrap his mind around the technology involved in simulating the emotional responses or context, but it made the visit interesting.
He almost felt lucky in that he had escaped knowing most of the deceased so far. Even more recently, the closest he had was a man who he'd completed one quest with and almost never run into more than briefly since. Sure, the guy had unloaded some kind of quest onto his lap - but that wasn't his responsibility. Neither had been saving him. He did what he could to keep people alive, and maybe it had made a difference. Then again, maybe he hadn't.
And the one death that mattered, that did hang onto him like a hand around his throat at night?
Catharsis slowed near a market stall, seeing right through what was actually presented. It didn't matter. He asked for the price, and made a show of scoffing at it, asserting that there was no way it was worth that much. The merchant mirrored the scoff, and the haggling began. He wasn't even interested in what was being sold, some sword that he couldn't even equip himself. It was just a distraction, but one he needed.
summary:: 1/3 cat pondered the dead, the npc ai, then started haggling with some poor npc without any real intention to buy to distract himself.

Spending most of his time by himself in the town of origins or running out to fight off some of the smaller monsters around the town or faywood. He didn't really manage to build any bonds with people in the game yet, and didn't have any friends who joined the game with him. They all were gonna wait to check out the reviews of the game before getting it, guess that paid off huh?
Despite not having any actual friends in this world or anyone he even knew that might of passed from this world since he was here that didn't mean he couldn't pay his respects to those that did die. More then likely they were trying to get everyone out of here while he was back in the starting town being too terrified to actually help. But after hearing about how many people died fighting off some kind of dragon Hendry came to a decision, he couldn't just wait around forever and hope that someone saved him, he had to do some saving of his own.
With a faint sigh Hendry made his way into Otsukimi tower, immediately being caught off guard with the contrast between the outside area and the tower. While it seemed like just your average festival outside the actual tower was dead silent on the inside. Making his way over to one of the benches the Lightlord would kneel down next to it, quietly muttering out a prayer for all those who died in the game. Finishing his prayers the blonde boy would stand up and make his way back out of the tower.
Looking around the festival for a brief moment Hendry would quickly realize what he wanted to do at the actual festival, at least for the moment. He wanted to get some food. With that in mind he'd start to make his way around to the various vendors trying to see what kinds of delicious foods they had for sale.
Summary: 1/3 Hendry showed up to the festival, went into the tower to pray for the people who died, went around trying to find food from the vendors.

Samantha lurked inside the tower herself, knees drawn up and head down, she almost looked asleep...she wasn't. Everything hurt. Her head, her chest, and definitely her damned stomach! She occasionally rubbed at her ears, itching and scratching until the sound of pixels flying passed. The raid battle, to say it politely, was a fucking disaster. She had never, ever seen death on such a scale and despite her attempts, way too many things were rushing back at once. She knew only a few people from the raid, but just barely, it didn't stop her from feeling like shit when she failed to "protect" them. She had promptly ran into this festival, what a joke to have NPCs mourning them, ate some meat...and then promptly made herself sick in this tower, hence the stomach ache. She wanted mom, dad, even the shrill chattering of little sisters were preferable, but they wouldn't come, they were pixels too...her stomach suddenly seized and for a frightening moment, she thought she'd be sick again...then a guy came in, praying and seemingly not seeing her. Drakka swung back in, forgetting that which was not to be thought about and bringing the wolf back to the forefront, now she was just tired... Drakka's own little prayer, if you could call it that, was a quick kiss on the finger and tapping the bench. She was not big on doing stuff like this, and no real knowledge existed in her mind how this was to be done "properly". The whole thing was over in a few seconds, and she meandered back outside, narrowing her eyes and lowering her head as she closed off her ears to the happy voices around her, God, was she tired...Someone's voices started to break through, and she snapped upward as she failed to dispel the sounds, blinking as she recognized the healer from the raid. Well, she owed him one. Drakka hobbled over toward the haggling men and sneered at the target sword, " Why're ya arguing over some crap sword like this? I could pick up a stick sharper." Generally, she had nothing to do anymore, this seemed like a welcome change of plans beside making herself ill again...besides...she did have to thank him for the heal... Summary: Sulking in a temple, not too happy at deaths, but finally leaves when Hendry comes in to pray. Walks around the festival but stops and sorta, kinda wants to help catharsis with his haggling. 1/3

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It was a surprise to hear another voice, something that jolted him out of the back and forth and grounded him back into reality a little bit more than he would have liked. That was, if this could be called reality. He glanced at the girl out of the corner of her eye, recognizing her name more than her face. For some reason, he associated her with Carlo, though he couldn't pin down exactly why. None of it mattered. She chipped into his distraction from the dead, and he cast her a look of understanding for only a split second and then a nod, before his lips pulled into a strange smile and he motioned lazily with one hand towards the sword in question. "You see? She agrees with me. A level one player could have crafted something better than this." The stall keeper protested, "My prices are as fair as any other vendor here.""So, what, none of them are fair?" Cat raised both hands in a sort of shrug, smile wide as he leaned forward only a fraction. "What you're charging is worth four times the scrap metal I could get from it. Lower your price accordingly, and maybe I'll think about it." It was too high, and he knew it wasn't going to happen, but that was the point. He waved it off, "Forget it." He said sharply. "The sword is no good. If you have anything of quality my friend here could use in more than a practice battle, then let's see it."The game had only just begun - provided he didn't get himself kicked out. summary:: 2/3 cat pounces on drakka's assistance to his distraction from the dead to further harass the stall vender, challenging him to produce something the wolf girl could use in battle.

Festivals weren't his thing even before they have been trapped within the game, though it wasn't because he hated them or had negative connotations attached to them. Rey just had not had the chance to attend to one on the outside world for various legitimate reasons such as being too absorbed in a game or two to be spending time outside. He had no excuses to not to attend the Festival of the Moon though. It wasn't like he wouldn't want to, given that stalls and games were present. He could guess that the commemoration of the dead was just a pretense to celebrate, and that he will do.
Index hunched over a stall with a toy rifle. The firing range had their prizes on the far side of the stall and all Index had to do was to shoot a prize to obtain it. The unfortunate thing was that he always had been a bad shot. With all the concentration he could muster, he tried to point the gun to the stuffed Otohime on the corner. With the loud voices next stall, all the aiming he did quickly dissipated as he shot. Perhaps being jumpy wouldn't go well with raised voices and concentration. The ammunition missed the target by an inch.
He took a glance at those who had been too worked up in a festival, trying to argue with a vendor for something as trivial. They were familiar faces, but not enough for Index to speak to them. With a sigh, his attention went back to the stall as he placed a couple of coins at the counter. "Another try please." He really wanted that Otohime doll.
//stopped by a shooting gallery for a stuffed otohime. misses his shot. eyes catharsis and drakka next stall. subconsciously blames them for ruining his shot. goes back again for a second try.

Killing it hardly did any justice to the amount of life it had taken. A digital fucking monster murdering real people....and for what? It wasn't even survival, this was a game...They'd basically died for nothing. Carlo was a rough and tough son of a bitch, but even after suffering loss far to many times in the military...It never got easy. The soldier had gone into the quiet innards of the tower. The only sounds in here were muffled cries and whispers of those mourning the dead. It was here he'd find a lonely spot to get on his knees with clamped hands, uttering a small prayer in his mind for a player he'd never expected to see go, towns . Poor guy hadn't even died in the fucking raid...He'd survived it only to get killed in some kind of PvP dual, and before Rex could even invoke his stubborn revenge...someone else had stolen that pleasure from him. I'll get that bastard, just for us...With a long breath he'd stand himself from his knees and head back outside, reaching inside his inventory to summon up a cigarette to puff on. The fake and alluring addiction was a welcome relief to the thoughts in his mind. He'd pass right by drakka and catharsis , and even index though he'd say nothing. If he was purposely ignoring them or just passing by was...left to question. He'd find a bench to sit himself down on, reaching to brush away some bangs from his face as he eyed a flashing notification on his mailbox...He'd totally forgotten about the letter from DOLLIE , being so caught up in all this damn death. So with a flick of his hand he'd open it up and give it a read, and to his surprise he'd be blasted with more lovely news. Rex's gaze widened briefly with the realization she'd been killed and he didn't even notice until now. It was quick to change into anger and regret, sharp teeth snarling out in a hiss as he finished up the painful final message from the woman. He'd already failed her, he wouldn't fail her friends in the future. Probably wont Effect you...Yeah tough fucking chance. The message was closed, though not deleted. With another few flicks of his hand he'd navigate his menus to send Catherine a Guild Invite. It would be waiting there, just for when she decided to come back. With a swallow Rex sat himself forward on his knees, taking another long drag on his smoke as he reflected... How ironic it was that the most pious of them all had no one to pray for.[break] Of all the deaths seen, of all the lives lost, only one of them stuck out to Raynauld - that Binder who tried to kill him, Rex, Akeno, Catharsis, and... that man with the fists, the name escaped him... that man was dead. And just as he thought then, it was nothing but good. Someone like that who dragged others down was just like...[break] ...[break] Raynauld hitched Aethon at the stables and entered the festivities proper, stopping only at the tower once to pray (whether it was to the real-world's God, or Lasivia, was left a mystery) before breaking off to join the revelry. There was some boy looking around for food - Another knight, perhaps? Something about him was pure, though, and Raynauld dared not approach that one given his label as a "Devil". Others milled at stalls - he recognized Index and Catharsis, as well as Drakka - but he gave those three space; doubtless they had their own issues to wash away in the indulgences.[break] He came across Rex eventually, little surprise - the Commando was, without exaggeration, literally everywhere. How did he do it? When the soldier snarled, Raynauld stepped back on impulse; not like he needed to start a fight here. Eventually, he calmed down (seemingly) enough for Raynauld to assume he wouldn't immediately start snapping at him. And so, Raynauld took the spot on the bench next to Rex. He said nothing, merely sat next to him.[break] At least he wasn't preaching.[break] Summary: Raynauld, like many others, prayed at the tower before taking stock of the festival. Sighting Hendry , he chose to ignore that one out of perceived fear of being called a devil by his holiness. He acknowledged the existences of drakka , catharsis and index before taking a seat next to kingrex .

the festival of the moon made to celebrate those that lost their lives. a lot of mourning players were praying at the tower for those they lost in the battle against otohime, but the caster had no interest in that. luckily for her, the woman hadn't lost anyone she cared about in the raid. those who did lose their lives, well it was their own faults. cockiness, pride, valor, whatever their reasoning for going in headstrong, their lives were claimed because of it. it was just as easy to fight from afar as it was up close. if they were stupid enough to risk their lives by diving in face first against a dragon, well, maybe they deserved to die then. hex so no reason in praying. that didn't mean the foxfire would ignore the rest of the festival, though. goldfish, food, and fireworks. it was something actually fun to do in this festival. fighting got so boring after all, the woman wished there would be more parties like this one. though she had to admit fighting was fun every once in awhile, it was the reason she bought this game after all, festivals like this were much more her style. the scent of something fried filled the girls nose, and her eyes caught sight of a food booth. there were a ton set up, but this one in particular caught her eye. hex came to stand in front of the stall, taking in the sweet smell of the dough cooking. honestly she couldn't even tell you what the food was, she just knew that she had to try it. "i'd like an order of this," the words came out like a command. "one takoyaki, coming right up." the man piled up ten of the little balls on a plate, a toothpick sticking out of one of them. hex exchanged some coin for the plate and walked away from the booth. she picked up the ball by the toothpick sticking out of it and placed the treat in her mouth. "yum..." a content sigh passed through her lips as she chewed up the fried deliciousness. as she popped the next ball into her mouth, she spotted a young man who seemed to be looking at all the food stands. "hey!" she called out to the lightlord as she walked a few paces closer to him. "maybe i'm wrong, but it looks like you're looking for food. i'm not quite sure what this takoyaki stuff is but it's delicious. you should check it out, the booth is right there." she pointed at the stall, toothpick in hand. whelp, hex had done her good deed for the day. summary: hex buys some food, sees hendry looking around at the food stalls and tells him he should get some of what she's having.

Drakka's nearly panicked smile grew tremendously, " See? The man has spoken, I never seen something so dull, so pay up" Her smile suddenly fell in a ferocious snarl, eyes flinty and sparking with an ungentle fire, even jerking her head to the side to growl at some annoying fox woman speaking with a perky voice! The shopkeeper yelped and jumped back as the Lobisomem looked on the verge of pouncing on him. Hastily, another sword was brought out. " Do I look like a sword woman, huh? Get me something I can actually fucking use!" A flail was brought out, " No. I'm a Lobisomem jackass, figure it out." As the man rustled through his weapons, a twitch ran through Drakka's face. Hurry it up! Come on! A bubbling mass of anger pounding up her throat overflowed as a pair of dull claws finally came out, " Real genius, huh? It's still shit." Without another word to the shopkeeper, she tapped the healer on the shoulder, " C'mon. You got no business with this guy, besides, I gotta thank you for the help back there with Otohime." Summary: Got angry with the shopkeeper catharsis and her are talking to, growls at hex, who was talking to happily for her. Taps catharsis on the shoulder and tells him they're better off going away, also stating she has a thank you to say. 2/3

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Briefly, he noticed Carlo pass by, but the guy didn't address him and seemed busy. Cat decided it'd be best to leave him be, for some reason. Besides, he was having fun for a brief moment. There was an intensity to this girl, but in the moment it gave him a bit of a rush. Having an actual ally in the verbal harassment of the stall vendor left his actual teeth showing in his grin, and he tilted his head slightly as he let himself quiet to let her rip into the hapless npc without any further encouragement from him. Amazing. A bit prone to violence, but he almost liked her, and he didn't genuinely like hardly anyone. Like all good things, though, the fun had to come to an end as the girl tapped him on the shoulder to draw his attention away. Sure, he didn't actually want anything, but stopping meant paying attention to why he was actually there and he really, really didn't want to do that. When the girl brought up thanking him for the most disastrous raid he'd ever been a part of to date, his expression went blank and impassive. "Uh, yeah, sure," He managed, not quite hearing his own words. Thank him? He had never felt more useless than that battle. Not that he'd ever owed any of them anything or would turn down appreciation, but something about him left him hollow again. He cleared his throat, casting a glance at the cheerful woman the wolf girl had growled at and decided to separate them for the better good. He tilted his head down in an opposite direction, leading her away with the false bravado of a sly grin. "Anything, in particular, you want to say about it, or what?" He asked, not quite looking at her so much as through her. summary:: 3/3 cat notices kingrex pass but it seems like he's busy so he doesn't say much of anything, enjoys drakka giving the vendor hell before she brings up the raid, decides to agree to hear her out if only to separate her from hex

| So we said that we'd leave early, get some pizza later But my hands go down your jeans and you distract the waiter Until we take it somewhere better like the elevator | The various deaths of a large part of their active playerbase, it was a real downer. Sad to see that some of the more hardworking players had sacrificed themselves for the last raid. But fear not! For Mustang wouldn't try to dwell on the sadness and negativity that was this event. There was plenty to do and much to see in the tower and it’s surrounding area. It was just a matter of figuring out what to do first! He had originally hoped to run into his close friend Beat, but there would be time for that. Mustang dressed in his fabulous yukata for the night scanned around. His eyes ever vigilant but he came across another familiar face, even if it wasn't the one that he had been looking for. “Hex!” The raven sword fighter exclaimed as he approached, the ever shining smile on his face. Giving a friendly wave to the girl as he continue to talk in her direction. “How are you doing? I haven't seen you since the bounty! How is your guild and every- oh sorry.” He paused as he took notice of the other male player. “Sorry name’s Mustang! Nice to meet ya!” He said as he extended a hand out to Hendry. Index started aiming for a headshot on the Otohime doll. Although he had little confidence on his shooting skill, a shot to its head was a more reliable way to topple the plush over compared to a shot on its torso. Given how weak the toy rifle was gauging from the shot he took moments earlier, relying on the torque was a better choice than trying to push his target outright from its stand. He took a deep breath as he hyped himself for the shot. The barrel raised and a finger on the trigger, Index fired the makeshift gun and hit the doll squarely on the desired target.
The guardian doll fell on the ground, with Index heaving a sigh of relief knowing he wasn't ripped off. As he was handed the doll, the paladin took off, giving one last glance at the harassment duo next stall. The most logical thing to do there was to simply walk away, unless they actually find joy in doing so. Still, that wasn't Index's business to think about. With the Otohime doll he won wedged between his arm and his side, the paladin ventured deeper into the festival. There were still stalls that were yet to be visited and a certain guild to keep himself from thinking about.
// otohime doll get. took one last look at both catharsis and drakka and starts assuming they enjoy what they're doing before visiting the other stalls,

[attr="class","scare1"] [attr="class","scare2"] [attr="class","scare3"] [attr="class","scarewords"]Rex slithered a look towards raynauld , it didn't carry it's usual fire, though you knew it wasn't hiding very deep. One wrong word and you could set set the beast free, so to speak, “...What's up Ray.” Carlo greeted lowly before leaning back in his seat on the bench, slouching some with another long drag of his smoke. “...You win any fish in that dumb ass game everyone is playing?” Carlo asked, keeping a corner of his sharp blues on the male. He wasn't big on small talk, but it was better than sitting here in awkward silence and letting his mind rot in unpleasant thoughts about death and being trapped in this shit hole of a game. With another fidget on the bench he'd try to sit himself up a little and glance towards the nearby stalls, watching players attempt to win worthless trash trinkets and pets. What kind of fuckery was this anyways? They were stuck in a game...playing games...Inception much? With a scoff he'd turn his attention back on Ray, given he started to talk. [attr="class","s arenotes"]- NSFW!!!!- NOTES:Still talking on the bench with Ray. "God, no," Raynauld shook his head, "I've not even tried. What would I even do here with a fish? Put it in a tank and feed it flakes?"[break] It didn't seem a particularly palatable option, not unless he wanted to spend the majority of his time in the ocean biome of this game. For a moment, they went back into silence, Raynauld not particularly wanting to press Rex on his current state given the commando's penchant for flying off the handle at any given moment. Instead, he sat there in silence, barring the occasional declarative statement.[break] "I saw Drakka over there earlier, with the Empath, if you were looking for her," When Rex turned his head to the stalls.[break] "The doll is in particularly poor taste," When Index passed them holding his stuffed bounty.[break] "... I've made clothes like that once before," When Mustang passed them in his yukata, the first time he'd broached that subject since entering the game.[break] ... At this point, bringing up = the deaths might have made the conversation less inane than normal.[break] "I remember being in first grade, when they did a cultural program that showed our class a variety of things children did in schools around the world. When they got to the Far East and Japan, they had a variation of this, just set in one of their high schools. I never thought I'd see it again... at least, not like this."[break] Summary: Hung out with kingrex , pointing out various others such as mustang , index , et. al, before settling on backstory.
