[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]how to play [attr="class","bw-desc"]broken war online follows the story of a virtual MMORPG that carries the same title. roots of the concept sprouted from anime with similar ideas (sao, .hack and log horizon) to give you an idea for what to shoot for. while mainly the same, the game world is much different from others you may have seen before.
gargantua, the world inside of broken war online™, is a vast and immersive world but its underlying theme still fits the traditional mmorpg mythos. swords, dungeons and dragon are all there but thrown alongside more modern pieces of technology such as firearms and robotics. gargantua is a world of magic masterfully blended with industrial revolution. more than just a plentiful background it also offers an intriguing magical and technological duality that aims to appeal a wide berth of niche genres. there are levels, there are quests, there are a myriad of npcs and monsters that players are free to immerse themselves, together.

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]the setting [attr="class","bw-desc"]while broken war online attempts be the most immersive in terms of a virtual world, there are some pieces of the game that recreate something more similar to previous titles you or your character might of played. a small interface exists within the game that displays basic stats for npcs and other players alike. life points, buffs, debuffs and other important bits of knowledge will be linked within here. a wave of the right hand can summon a separate menu that contains a friend list, inventory and more stats. players can summon the items from their inventories to their hand, which is usually useful for crafting or trading.
all of the normal requirements of a human being are rewritten within gargantua. food and drink both exist within the game with their own flavors, but they do not exist as a basic need. players often eat anyway to make them feel normal. using the bathroom is also not a requirement, but you can still find many bathrooms across the cities in gargantua.
there are no options for races in broken war online, and player avatars represent what the players look like in real life with some slight differences. animal ears and changes to hair or eye color are some of the extra options, but facial structure and body size will transfer directly over. sometimes classes and those class abilities may also modify what the player looks like in the game.

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]the combat [attr="class","bw-desc"]combat works much different from the real world but abides by some of the same rules. skills and basic attacks are carried by the game's systems but are activated by the player with some sort of a simple gesture. this allows the players to complete superhuman tasks with little to no effort. instead of bleeding, players instead feel bits of their wound deteriorate away into fragments of data much to the same way monsters in the world explode into fancy colors and loot. players in the game do feel pain, but numbed down to a certain degree.
normal stats exist within the game, but are chosen during the in-character character creation. these stats are labeled damage, defense and support and they affect the classes in very different ways. during normal combat, a freeform approach is taken so there is no advantage or disadvantage while fighting a foe. it's key to remember that stats and numbers do exist in the fictional game, they will not be used on the site by any means.
