[attr="class","bw-desc"]▸ Can you die in broken war online™?
yes, and when you do you die for good. normally death is a choice made by the owner of the character, but in cases of hard mode in dungeons, raids or other events, this may not be the case. by participating and rolling in hard mode, a character can die without the owner's choice. and yes, they stay dead for good too.
▸ Do I have to participate in hard mode?
not at all! every type of event or dungeon that carries a hard mode has a separate normal version for players who don't want to risk their character's life. these threads play like normal, but those who roleplay in hard mode receive bigger rewards and make bigger affects on the world. a reward for putting their life on the line.
▸ Can my character be transgender?
yes! we even encourage non-binary characters as well. however, since the game copies the appearance of the user from the real world into gargantua, the avatar resembles the body and sex of the player. so when asked for sex, be sure to give the appropriate answer. transgender or non-binary is not an option at character creation in the game, because the game scans for physical sex not gender.
▸ Can I play an animal-like character?
since broken war online™ copies the real life appearance of the user into the game, this is rarely ever possible. your character should resemble a human but slight modifications can be made (like animal ears). sometimes classes have skills or skill passives that allow transformation, but those are also subject to cooldowns and other timers.
▸ Does my character have stats?
here on broken war online™ we use a freeform-like system. while skills apply to the rules of stats in the setting of the game, we don't enforce any hard numbers unless someone gets too crazy. sometimes hard mode has numbers involved, but it's usually very simple.
▸ Can I have multiple weapons?
your weapon type is tied to what you selected during character selection, so you can only wield weapons of this type. some classes can wield various different weapons, while usually most classes only wield or maybe two different types. your inventory can hold as many items as you own. dual-wielding isn't possible with two different items, but you may make a character that uses the dual sword or dual dagger weapon-type. but if you have an original weapon-type concept, shoot for it!
▸ Does my character bleed?
no, characters do not bleed when attacked. instead they lose bits of data that trail off into the surroundings. pain acts the same way with additional tolerance. gargantua is a very realistic fantasy world, but it does abide by some of the rules of other video games.
▸ Can I craft any kind of weapon or armor out of this crafting material?
you have free rein over the crafting over your weapon or armor, especially when using money. crafting materials work similarly, but your piece of gear must resemble the crafting material, at least somewhat. if you used a leather crafting material for armor, your armor would be made of leather. if you used a giant bone, your sword would be made of bone. the design is up to you, but you must incorporate it somewhere.
▸ what weapon do i pick in the character application?
the type of weapon you wield is tied to your class like other mmorpgs. normally a spellcaster would only have access to staffs or wands, while warriors are open-ended and have access to all sorts of weaponry. broken war online™ follows the same concept. you select all of your class's options of weapon-types and post them within the character application. sometimes classes just have one, sometimes they have several. the choice is up to yours, but it will determine the kind of loot you'll receive later on. remember that you may only equip one weapon at a time in combat.
▸ what if my character is blind or has prosthetics?
Unfortunately, 2046 isn't much different from 2017. There's been some major steps towards solutions to blindness, and even more so when it comes to prostethics, but none are inexpensive. all of the best cures and fixes are still hard to come by in the real world, but it doesn't make them any less futuristic in nature.
In game, blindness and prosthetics are a thing of the past. The game allows those with damaged eyes to play the game like normal. Players who have prostethics in the real world do not carry them into the game either. However, muscle memory and habits are still a regular and may cause discomfort to your characters.
