[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]player versus player [attr="class","bw-desc"]While originally one of the main defining features for Broken War Online, PVP has become something much more terrifying. Players are only safe in the town of origins. If challenged in the open, there's only the option of running for safety or finishing the fight. Victors of normal PVP actually kill their targets in game, and also in the real world since the shift. Casual players may still compete in duels that end once the player reaches a certain designated mark on their healthbar, but normally any sign of PVP is just in bad taste. It's worth mentioning that the game hosts a player bounty system for players who successfully slay multiple targets.
PVP as a system, works much differently than you may be used to. Just like like hard mode and the other defined structures on site, PVP follows a design based on dice rolls. Essentially, two players will face off against each other by making five posts each and rolling in each one. The victor is decided at the end of the thread and once all the totals are added together. The highest combined total wins the fight, and slays the other player. This means that traditional pvp is always death enabled.
Unlike the other game modes on bwo, PVP works differently by applying extra modifiers on top of normal rolls. These modifiers scale off your character's role, gear rating and level. Each role gains one different ability they may use once in a single round of PVP. For attackers, they may apply an additional roll to one of their posts. Defenders can change the last single roll of their enemy to zero (only one of the rolls if two). Utility can reroll a single roll they made in the entire thread at any time before the fight ends, but the highest roll out of the two is kept even if it's the original one. Below you'll find the modifiers that apply for your character's levels and currently equipped gear (only four different items). These modifiers only apply once in your first post in the thread, and add to your end total.
Players with ten posts or less cannot challenge or participate in death-enabled pvp.
Levels ▸ level 01 = +1 ▸ level 02 = +2 ▸ level 03 = +4 ▸ level 04 = +8 ▸ level 05 = +16
Gear Rating ▸ [COMMON] = +1 ▸ [UNCOMMON] = +5 ▸ [RARE] = +10 ▸ [EPIC] = +15 ▸ [UNIQUE] = +25 ▸ [LEGENDARY] = +50

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]Initiating PVP [attr="class","bw-desc"]Starting a PVP thread is rather simple. First you must decide if you're going to attempt normal PVP, or just a normal duel. You also need to figure out who's character is going in to fight your character, and with that, decide who's going to post first. These are items that need to be planned out previously, but you're welcome to use the lfg tool or the cbox to find a willing contender if you've started an open thread. Just remember to label the thread with some sort of PVP or DUEL tag to let others know. Whoever starts the thread is the player who makes the beginning roll.
The first two posts, made by both competitors, are without rolls. This is when both players announce their modifiers applied by levels and their gear. Gear modifiers are added together by the currently equipped items. These four items are a single weapon, a single piece of armor, a single mount and a single trinket. All of these ratings are added together in a single gear total. For example, a rare weapon and armor with an uncommon trinket and mount would give a +30 modifier from gear alone. It's best to mark all of this out to avoid confusion. But remember, these modifiers only apply once and that's at the beginning of the thread. You do not add these to every single attack.
The second post made by the thread starter is where the fight begins. Five posts are made by each of the fighters. Totals may be added as you go, or at the end. Characters will different rolls are free to apply their special pvp ability whenever they would like as long as it abides by the rules. Double rolls made by attackers can only happen once in the thread. Defenders may choose any roll to void of the enemy's, but it can only work on the most recent roll of the enemy's after using the ability. Utilities are free to reroll any single roll of their own in the thread, but it must be done before the final post. The highest roll between the new reroll and the previous one is used, so there are no drawbacks.

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]Dueling [attr="class","bw-desc"]Duels are another option for those who'd like to spar. Dueling allows players to fight each other with the fun of the system of dice rolls, but without the fear of death. Duels do not have to abide by the pvp system if they wish not to, but participating players will not be eligible for rewards. Both players must also agree beforehand, just like traditional pvp. Duels always end once a player reaches a certain notch on their lifebar, so it's impossible for a character to die from them.
When it comes to rewards, Duels give a flat amount to both players. Winners get ₡20 losers earn ₡10. Players may set equal coin wagers with their money in the first post if they want to put more on the line. The victor keeps their coin and earns whatever was put on the line by their opponent. This also means the opponent loses their coin, since they lost the fight.
Duels do not play by the same ten post requirement to participate. You can duel any player at any time, at any level.

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]Rewards [attr="class","bw-desc"]Traditional PVP rewards are based around the player slain with additions placed on top. What this means is that any player that wins a death-enabled fight will earn money equal to the player's coin upon their death with an additional flat amount on top. So if you slay a player with ₡300, you'll earn ₡300 coin plus some extra. The extra scales off how many completed fights your character has made, and survived. Characters who die in death-enabled pvp only receive half of their inheritance when given to another new character. Remember to post in the 'notify us' thread once the battle has concluded.
Flat amounts earned by traditional PVP ▸ 1 Fight – ₡25 ▸ 2 Fights – ₡50 ▸ 3 Fights – ₡75 ▸ 4+ Fights – ₡100

[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]Player Bounties [attr="class","bw-desc"]Player bounties is a system incorporated for characters looking to participate in PVP, but also remain heroic. After a player has successfully slain three other players, their name goes up on the player bounty list. From this point forward, this player cannot refuse challenges from other players who start threads and tag them to PVP. Players who defeat a player with a bounty on their head earn the usual amount, but two times the amount the player had in their pocket at the start of the thread. So if the bounty had ₡300 at the start of the fight, the victor would earn ₡600 + ₡50 if it was their first fight. If a player who has a bounty on his/her head refuses to participate in another a fight, their character will be killed off and the victory will be given to the challenger along with the rewards unless stated otherwise. If the player with the bounty doesn't respond to the thread within 48 hours of their turn in the thread, they will automatically be killed off and the victory will be given to the challenger along with the rewards unless stated otherwise. Players with bounties on their heads may only be issued forced challenges one at a time. So if someone has already challenged him/her, you must wait until the fight is completed. If you happen to be a player with a bounty on their head and something important has come up to prevent you from replying to challenges, let a staff member know to sort it all out.
