[attr="class","bw-border"] [attr="class","bw-bg"] [attr="class","bw-title"]classes [attr="class","bw-desc"]a character's role determines the nature of their skills whereas a character's class determines their theme. both enforce concepts and limitations while providing different possibilities and capabilities. as such choosing a role and a class is one of the most fundamental decisions in character creation. there are three broad roles to choose from, each designed towards its own specific significance during combat. after choosing a role a player is prompted to create their own class, building his or her skills from the ground up while using certain archetypes and monikers for thematic reference. remember, only one role and class may be selected per character.
a single role must be chosen from the selection below but a class is made entirely by the player.
▸ ATTACKER classes of this role specialize in putting out damage, whether from short range, long range or both. their skills usually employ both offense and utility and rarely are defensive. naturally the damage attribute is the most important to this role. currently, this role is the most common on broken war online™.
▸ DEFENDER classes of this role specialize in counteracting damage dealt, either to themselves or others or both. whether by enduring, deflecting or avoiding damage altogether characters of this role tend to have low offensive capabilities and center around both defensive and utility abilities. as such the defense attribute is the most important to this role. currently this role is the least common on broken war online™.
▸ UTILITY classes of this role specialize in aiding other characters, hindering enemies, or both. this role usually lacks both damage and defense but carries a wide array of colorful abilities that shape each class a character chooses. because of this utility roles rely heavily on the support attribute to increase the effectiveness of their skills. despite its relative difficulty this role is commonplace on broken war online™.
