"Mean fella!" Akeno stumbled her way out of the small side-shop, glancing back with a glare towards the doorway. Apparently disgruntled, she brushed herself off, bunching up her face in contempt. "Why did he shove me out of his store, right palmy?" The Cannibal stood in the middle of the road, staring into her right hand with a sorrowful gaze. "I just wanted to know if he was selling fingers..."
Noises. The hard slapping of the bottoms of footwear against the cobblestone pathway. The Cannibal raised her eyes from her hand, bringing her left palm onto her hip. She tilted her head, staring as a group of four cloaked figures dashed at her, holding bags and firearms.
"You think they're coming to get me, right palmy?" Akeno shifted her gaze back to her palm. "Or maybe they're just in a hurry to get somewhere." She shrugged. Though, all of her talking had taken a bit of time, and as she finished speaking, the group dashed past her, shoving her out of the way.
The Cannibal was thrown roughly towards the ground in their passing, catching herself mainly on her hands. She hesitantly pushed herself up, rising to her feet. She stumbled carelessly, glancing towards the clique of them, racing away from her. Akeno was just about to turn away, before she saw her right palm. In the scuffle, she'd scraped it slightly against the roadway.
"You..." The crazed Cannibal looked up towards the group as they sprinted away from her. "You hurt right palmy!!" She clenched her fists, reaching a hand back into her bag to grasp the hilt of her knife, pulling it out. "I'll eat your hands off!" Akeno screamed, hurtling down the path after them.

He was glad self-buffs were a thing, else he wasn't sure how he'd manage to catch up with the thieves. He was already on his fastest and he has yet to close the distance between them. There were four of them and there was only one of him on their tail chasing their group. He came up with no plans to corner them and decided to just improvise one once he managed to reach them. The robbers were said to be equipped to the bone too, and with him having little offensive presence at all, he came to a predicament.
The solution came before his eyes when he saw the thieves provoke another player unknowingly. To his surprise, she managed to outrun him. It was either that she was filled with determination or that he was simply lagging behind. He shot her with a party invitation, hoping perhaps that she could help him with the quest. If she was planning on taking those alone, he might as well present himself as backup.
Along with the invitation came a whisper directed to her: hey, wanna work together? Judging from her reactions so far, he hoped that she wouldn't be too focused on chasing the robbers that she'd ignore him. He might just be reading between the lines too much though.

Drunk with rage, The Cannibal tomahawked her knife at one of the fleeting enemies. She missed by a long shot, as throwing things inaccurately was actually one of her more notable traits. Grumbling, she ran to collect her fallen weapon, seeing something pop up in her vision.
"A message!?" Akeno's eyes scanned the words of the message, sending a message in return. 'YEA, SURE! THEY HURT RIGHT PALMY!' was the message he'd get in return. And perhaps he'd even hear it since she had screamed it, as she began to chase after the goons again. The party invitation was accepted.
Sniffing, Akeno tracked the goons by their scent, turning a sharp left into a less dense, less populated area of the market. She definitely wasn't letting them go. She was killing three birds with one stone anyways. Killing her boredom, killing her hunger, and killing those who had hurt right palmy, those monsters.
And no doubt, right palmy would have it's revenge, clenching the hilt of Akeno's dagger.

Right palmy? Typing a message with the caps lock on and reading a written response out loud can easily be overlooked, though giving body parts pet names was something noteworthy. Nevertheless, being concerned with insignificant details wasn't going to help anytime soon. If anything, Index should be focused more with the problem on hand. With the assistance of Akeno in consideration, things should be smooth sailing from now.
He held his hand forward as he ran, casting a heal and a speed boost at the girl with the intention of the intention of both fixing any injury she implied to have and wordlessly showing his skills to her. He took a turn soon after, deviating from the path that the thieves took and then entering a narrow corridor. He opened up the chat interface once again and sent another message to Akeno. i'm gonna cut them off. could you try leading them left again? i'll prepare an ambush.
He didn't have the agility to chase them in the marketplace, even if he wasn't wearing any armor. The least he could do was to block a path and hopefully stop them from their tracks. If the thieves even try to fight back, Index could at least get a preemptive strike before they do.

The Cannibal, still gritting her teeth in anger from the scrape they'd left on her palm, glanced over at the message, nodding affirmatively. She didn't take the time to respond, just focusing on catching up to the thugs. As she sprinted with all of her energy, Akeno began to pant furiously, closing the distance little by little.
"Graa!" With an enraged grown, The Cannibal leaped like a starved beast, raising her arm over her head to throw her knife once more. This time it struck, but only with the hilt, leaving probably a pretty bad bruise in the center of the rightmost one's back. Seeing their friend attacked, the group of gun-wielding bank robbers took a left turn, as expected.
As Akeno landed on the ground, after her leap, pain shot through her foot. Her left food had landed on a small pebble, but a pebble sharp enough to stagger The Cannibal. She stumbled forward, hopping after the criminals on her right foot.
"Lefty, you psychopath!" She groaned, holding her foot in her hand. Perhaps running barefoot, as she usually did, wasn't the best of ideas, but at least it was comfortable. She had achieved her goal of getting them to take a left turn, but at such a cost, as she hopped after them.

Index waited on one of the alleyways that litter the marketplace. His hands gripped his sword, waiting patiently for the group of robbers to come round his corner. No reply came from Akeno, though Index assumed that she was already putting the plan in motion. Soon enough, he could already hear the sounds of footsteps, rushing across the paved streets of the district. The sounds grew louder with each passing moment, until Index could feel them closing in.
He stepped out of his hiding spot with his sword overhead. Activating his skill, he swung his sword and hit the thieves with the flat surface of the blade, knocking them back to the direction they came from. "Whoops. Wrong turn," he taunted. Now that they have them sandwiched, Index began wondering if it was a good idea to do so. He could try tanking two at once and hoped Akeno has enough damage to fell one of them quickly, though it left another one free to move.
Grumbling, he realized spending more time theory-crafting than attacking was more detrimental than useful at the moment. He held his hand out towards the cannibal (lol) and casted a heal. As soon as it was done, he came back to rushing towards their targets. His main objective right now was to take the heat off the damage dealer, and what better way to do that than to impose himself as the immediate threat between the two of them. He dragged his sword along the ground, screeching with friction and all, as he ran, trying to reach the nearest gunner.

Feeling the stinging pain shooting up through her foot subside, Akeno smiled to herself, cheering in thanks to her new companion, before realizing that it definitely wasn't the time for celebration. She knelt down to pick up her knife quietly. The scene her new friend had made seemed to attract their attention.
The closest one to her, and perhaps the most intimidated by the sword wielding figure, stepped cautiously backwards. The Cannibal was upon him in one swift stride. She knelt to slice his ankle, causing him to collapse forward. Then, a hand on his shoulder pulled him back, as The Cannibal raised her knife above her head, before plummeting the blade into his abdomen.
The criminal screeched in pain, continuing to yell as he raised up his gun to fire a shot, point blank, into Akeno's shoulder. She ignore the shot, as she leaned in to tear her teeth into his neck. This not only healed her from the damage of the shot, but also silenced his incessant screaming.
"Hai!" The Cannibal stumbled to her feet, swaying slightly in a carefree fashion. One of the criminals raised his shotgun, prepared to fire at her, having been alerted by the shout of his fallen friend. Akeno raised her hand in front of her face, prepared to endure the shot, as she dashed forward.

The four gun wielding brigands eyed him intently as he neared them. He hoped to close the distance between them before they could return to their senses and use their range advantage against them. Ambushing the group of thieves was the easiest way for him to get himself to melee range, and he won't get a second chance to do it again. Fortunately, Akeno jumped in and quickly took care of the most isolated of the three as they were recovering from the knockback, effectively turning it into a three versus two.
With his crowd control skill on cooldown, Index went deep with only basic attacks. The thieves managed to get back to their senses before he could cut them down, shooting Index once on his legs and another on his arm. Pixels gushed from the wounds, although given that this was BWO, it was not enough to incapacitate the paladin. He managed to cut one of them, with the other spacing away from him. There was damage dealt, but it wasn't even comparable to the numbers from the cannibal's attacks.
The next thing he saw was the girl defending herself from a shotgun with just her hands. "Wait, no!" From his position, he wouldn't be there in time to block the shot for her. The only thing he could do at the moment was ready a heal for when she'll get shot. He'd throw his sword at the gunner or something if it was a smarter move, but 0he obviously can't leave himself undefended against the other thieves.
Turning around, he saw the other two start staggering away from them after leaving a parting shot on Index. With two new bullet holes on his body, he started to get conscious of his health bar. Looking at Akeno's situation, it does not seem that she was doing that great either. "Do you still need help or should I start chasing?" His eyes were on the two that got away, awaiting a signal to go after them. One was already wounded and would be an easy kill. The other will be too, once his friends were all dead.

Hands hiding her face, it felt to Akeno as if time slowed. The fire of the shotgun, praying it's horrible agony across her. In a flash of black and white somewhat translucent pixels, she winced, opening her eyes through her fingers. Thank goodness for clutch heals.
"Oh... I'm alive?" The Cannibal looked down at herself. She'd still been greatly damaged, pieces of the buckshot having torn into her clothes, but she was still alive. Akeno charged the one still in front of her, a sword hanging out of his ribs. She made quick work of the ordeal, two swift slices to his throat doing the trick. His body fell, shotgun beside him.
"Thanks!" The crazed, barefoot girl, raised a fist in the air, pleased by the help of her companion, before her expression shifted to an unpleasant one. "They're running?! No more help for me, we go after them!" She knelt down beside the corpse she'd created, using her knife to sever four fingers. Shoving two of them into her mouth, she stood, her bare feet slapping against the cobblestone roadways.
"C'mon, pal! We can't let them get away!" As she consumed the pieces of flesh, she began to regenerate her heath bar decently quickly. Still, not the tankiest girl, or perhaps the most sane either. But at least she had aggression, and a passion for killing.

Although no blood was present within the game, the scene would be forever engraved in his eyes. Under no circumstances did he imagine being able to see someone sane casually slice of fingers of a corpse and eat them like snacks. This was still a game despite what class one takes. This has to be roleplaying, right? That thing was popular in many MMOs. His arms folded with his chin resting on a hand, nervously nodding to himself. Yup, this girl was just into it, right?
"Oh, right." He was about to cast another heal on Akeno, though it was then directed to himself once he noticed that cannibalism bumped her health back to a less critical state. With first-aid done, he started chasing after the two remaining thieves. Both of them were still visible from their position, with one of them clutching the wound Index inflicted on his torso. Soon, their targets took a right turn, completely disappearing from their view.
Still running, he decided to cast Refresh on Akeno. "Figured you'd use this better than me." She was more agile than the two of them. If one of them should benefit from a speed buff, he figured that the one with the ability to close the distance faster should receive it.

Running after the two thugs, the increase in speed came as a lovely surprise to Akeno, not seeing it coming. Suddenly, her feet seemed quicker than before, working on closing the distance much faster than before. Carelessly jogging backwards in front of him briefly, she shouted back.
"Thank you! You've inspired righty and lefty!" With an unnerving cackle, she turned back to face where she was going. All of a sudden she was thrown back, body rolling against the ground, sustaining a large amount of damage all at once. Groaning, she brought a hand up to lift herself back up, using the other to munch down the remaining fingers she'd harvested.
"Awww, poor girl!" A gruff voice came from the path in front of them. The thugs had lead them down into an alley where two seemingly larger, heavier geared criminals had arrived. In the back of the alley, the original two hid behind the new arrivals. One of the two larger ones had darted out from the shadows, body checking The Cannibal while she wasn't paying attention to where she was going.
One of them, a bandanna across his head, held an axe in his hand, approaching the fallen Akeno. The other, wearing some sort of metal mask to protect his face, held a pistol in each hand. They let out coarse laughter as they approached.

Perhaps it was a bad idea to let her lead the charge. He thought that the quest wouldn't be bringing too much challenge for them and that the description was just for flavor. Watching her get thrown back and her health bar diminishing caused panic in Index. He did not want to be the cause of someone's death in this game. With his hand stretched outwards, he cast heals until Akeno was back to healthy. His mana pool would be depleted soon if their damage was this high for every barrage of attacks from them.
As he caught up to the cannibal, his eyes soon spotted a new set of enemies. He smiled upon examining the reinforcements, relieved to have a melee in the mix. Stepping into the fray, he used his sword to try and disarm the axe man with a slash, to no avail. With the paladin between Akeno and two larger guys, sweat began dropping from his forehead. Their eyes were now on him instead of her. The situation felt more real to him compared to fighting regular fantasy game mobs, and no way in the real world would he stand up against these kinds of men.
"I'll distract axe man for a while. C-Can you get the gunner in the meantime?" As soon as he finished the sentence, the melee ruffian started to chop his axe directly to Index's face, to which he responded by blocking it with his shortsword. Pistol man started shooting as well, prompting the paladin to activating Bash and push axe man towards the gunner to stop the spray of bullets coming at him. "Oops. There goes the idea of separating them, I guess."

Pulling herself up off the ground slightly with her arms, The Cannibal shook her head. She took a moment to swiftly get her breath back, as she stood up. Raising a brow, and smiling with approval, she gave an appreciative nod to her companion in this conflict. Being healed was a nice touch when it came to staying alive.
The axe wielding thug stepped forward, the gunner poking his head out form behind him, using his compatriot as cover, as he fired his pistols. Akeno, back on her feet, raced towards the axe wielder. He raised the heavy weapon above his head, to bring it down with a heavy clang, smashing hard into the ground. It just missed The Cannibal, who had slid, not too unlike a baseball player, safely between his legs, past him.
"Sounds good!" She shouted, as she took a swipe with her knife, missing the gunner who prepared his weapons pointed at her. "You get this guy!" Akeno ducked quickly, to avoid the two bullets that would've otherwise hit her directly in the head, standing to give a backwards kick-shove to the axe guy, pushing him stumbling towards The Paladin. "I'll get this one!"
With another swipe of her knife, The Cannibal swiped at the gunner's hand, knocking the pistol out of his grasp. Enraged, the gruff bandit dropped his other pistol, preparing to go mono y mono with the girl.

His eyes were around the place as they tried to keep up with Akeno. Not having to worry whether or not an attack will grievously wound you was one thing, though he sometimes wished that he took a more dynamic class, especially when he was watching someone else do acrobatic movements or activating colorful spells. Before he realized it, the axe man came back flying to him along with a request from the other member of the party. "Thanks."
Index lunged towards the thief with his sword as he stumbled towards the paladin. It went through his armor, though it did not seem that he was too fazed with Index's damage. The larger man even took out the sword from his torso with his bare hands effortlessly and prepared another strike. Perhaps he was more defensive than the earlier gunners that they managed to dispatch. The paladin figured that this would take long before he could fell his current enemy, but all he had to do now was keep the axe man from interfering from the cannibal's work.
He managed to parry an attack, blocking the axe and leading the direction of the strike to the side. His sword found another spot to slash with the opening that he made, but given the remaining health from the bandit, this was going to take some time alone.

Now that The Cannibal was alone with the gunner, things could get much more interesting. A punch thrown towards her face, Akeno ducked, bringing her knife up to give a quick slice into his wrist. In a quick spring upwards, she was up on her feet. Much less prepared for the second strike, a fist came up and tore harshly into her hp. Vengeful and in pain, The Cannibal stabbed her knife into the gunner's stomach, returning the favor. Both of them stumbled back, the knife still in the ruffian's torso. He pulled it out, tossing it onto the ground.
The Cannibal grit her teeth and growled. She wasn't much of a fighter without her knife. Unarmed fighting wouldn't prevail much in her favor, if at all. As he charged at her, and she charged at him, it was obvious that there was no way for her to win this trade with her bare hands. But she had something much more ferocious in mind.
As the gunner loaded his fist, firing it hard and suddenly at her face, Akeno dipped slightly out of the way, the knuckle brutally crushing into her left shoulder. But as her shoulder collapsed backwards, and pain shot through her, The Cannibal carried her momentum forward into a leap, bringing her right hand behind the gunner's face, as her teeth ripped into his cheek. Suddenly fearful, he raised his arms to try and push her off, as she pulled her head up and down, bite after bite replenishing her hp, and tearing into his own. She was nearly finished with her work here, and would soon be able to help The Paladin.
