Another week, another pair of bounties. Skadi frowned as she tested the weight of her shield, the frost kitsune she rode in on stepping more carefully than normal so as to avoid tripping over a skeleton left behind in the mess of roots and tall grass. It was just as well; they had to be on guard to avoid missing out on the monster they were hunting. Skadi glanced over her shoulder to make sure Anya was with her, before looking up ahead.
This enemy was supposed to be challenging. They had done well so far, but that didn't stop Skadi from being honest about their weak spots. If the monster had a ranged attack or stance, then the battle would fall to her and Anya would be vulnerable. And if they made any mistakes, they still had yet to find a healer. Even if Anya was capable of helping herself if the situation was dire enough. Briefly, Skadi's fingers rested against her throat, mind absent for a moment. "Do you think we should have invited some of the guild along?" She asked, considering it for once. It was a change from assuming - or forcing herself to assume - that she could handle the entirety of the battle on her own because there were no other alternatives. Whether or not Anya would appreciate it might be a different story.
"I don't see any sign of the revenant so far." She announced, perhaps obviously. Just as soon as she spoke, a wail ripped through the air that couldn't possibly come from anything human, npc or player. "Nevermind." She corrected herself.

[attr="class","bang"] [attr="class","bangimg"] [attr="class","bangtext"]Anya's mind was elsewhere when Skadi had asked her the question and without much thought, she answered plainly, "I'm enough." Her head was filled with distractions, but did not fail to notice the change in her partner. She looked up at the woman, staring for a brief moment. "You're not feeling sick, are you?" If that wasn't possible, Anya wouldn't have known. As far as she knew, this world operated similarly to the real world and wouldn't be surprised if that were possible. "Well, if you want to invite them then invite them. I don't care." In her time away from Skadi, it became apparent that the guild didn't mean a thing to her. If they were with her, she wouldn't complain; without them, she wouldn't notice.
Anya shifted in her seat, mounted on her masked white dog when the eerie screech filled the air. It brought a scowl to her face knowing that they were going to come face to face with another 'realistic' boss. The last time that happened, well, they didn't leave that emotionally unscathed. At least this time they were dealing with the supposed soul of a player and not the player itself. She was sure it was a part of the lore and that did not make her feel any better about it. "So, is it just the two of us again?" Anya asked gently. One reason or another, the question didn't sit right with her, but she would ignore it.

Yeongmae was briskly walking, her eyes almost all the way closed with her hands covering her ears. Screeching, yelling, sobbing, anger... it could all be heard echoing as she passed through. It seemed that this valley was ridden with NPC spirits, and they all flocked to Yeongmae in an effort to be released from their spiritual prison. But Yeongmae didn't know how to help them, and frankly this was just way too fucking much for her to handle. She felt herself welling up with tears, as this was a moment of weakness and she was at her breaking point. "Why don't they every stop fucking talking to me... shut up shut up shut up..." She could feel her vision get blurry and her ears would slowly start to ring as if there someone had shot a gun next to her head.
This continued on for what seemed like an hour, but in reality was just twenty seconds. Just as she was about to wither up and accept the incessant screaming of the souls of the dead, everything seemed to be remedied almost instantly. Her ears were fine, her vision returned to normal, and everything just... stopped. For what reason? She looked around and saw two women, whose faces were familiar. She had accompanied them in the Abbadon raid, the same raid that gave her the bloodstone pendant she currently wears. Excited that she was both ridden of the talking dead and with the sight of familiar faces led her to a slightly more chipper tone.
"Why hello strangers, don't know if you remember me but I accompanied you guys during the Abbadon Raid," she said, trying to remain as professional as possible. "Hopefully my healing was sufficient."
Yeongmae really didn't want the spirits to come back, as it would just give her pain and grief. She didn't like the idea of traveling the world alone, and at least these two were still here. Even if they're about to leave and do something that was too high level for Yeongmae, at least she had this brief moment of silence that seemed to come once in a blue moon.

Skadi paused when Anya replied. It might have been absent, but she briefly wondered if that was the problem. Anya was irreplaceable, but there was little point in building up a guild to find support in worthy allies if they never actually partied with them. Those who had joined the guild were, in her opinion, worthwhile allies. She would accept nothing less. Still, it was difficult to parse what Anya meant. Did she really not care if others were invited along? Skadi had been good at interpreting other kinds of lies, but the more personal ones had never been her forte.
"So, is it just the two of us again?"
"It might be," Skadi answered, uncertain about the tone Anya had taken. Things had been unrelentingly odd between them ever since Grimace. There was a chance this might just make it worse.
Skadi paused, even her kitsune stumbling in its step when things went so smoothly from Anya saying to just bring along the first person who showed up - a gamble, in her opinion - to someone actually showing up. As luck would have it, it had been someone she'd considered worthy of recognition. She stopped to listen as the woman spoke, and didn't reply at first; another shriek tore through the air. She let it subside before she talked to the woman, taking the time to read over her name tag above her head. "I am Skadi of Regalia. I do remember you; you saved both of our lives." Sufficient? Perhaps the woman was being humble.
"If you're trying your hand at the bounty, you shouldn't go alone." Skadi went on with a frown. She glanced towards Anya, before going ahead and sending the party invite. "And we could use a healer. It would be mutually beneficial for us to stick together, as long as you can keep from getting underfoot."
And she had been doing so well at that whole diplomacy thing.

[attr="class","bang"] [attr="class","bangimg"] [attr="class","bangtext"]Anya arched herself back lazily, head tilting at the first face to show up to the bounty. She looked at the utility with a frown as Skadi had gone ahead and introduced herself. Anya gave a simple wave once her leader was done and like usual, gave her own introduction that was probably less than ideal for the guild's image. "Seneca, and no, I don't actually remember you. It was a shit show and things tend to get messy when that happens, y'know? Faces and voices just blend together."
It wasn't meant to be rude, but hell, did she know how not to be?
"Sorry," she finally said stiffly, shifting again in her seat. "Anyways, seems like my leader here remembers you at least. If you wanna etch yourself into my memory then let's go. Get out of this bounty alive." The woman smiled, a finger curling in the utility's direction. "You got a way of getting there? We might kill the boss before you get there on foot, just sayin'. I'll give you a ride; pay me back with being useful, yeah?" Anya patted the spot behind her, tongue clicking. "What's it going to be?" "Lucky for you, if I want to help anyone on this bounty, I'll have to help everyone." Yeongmae said, her tone being very serious and matter of fact. She appreciated the recognition from Skadi, but Seneca was a tough nut to crack. She didn't blame her though, as she was right. She probably didn't even look back at Yeongmae while she was healing. There was no need to, when death is staring at you in the face. She accepted the invite from Skadi, and replied back to Seneca. "Thank you for offering a ride, I have no way of traveling otherwise."
Yeongmae hopped on, witch on a broomstick style with her legs on one side of the mount. She was more comfortable sitting this way anyways than straddling, keeping her legs crossed. While she did, she decided to try and discreetly look up information on the bounty. She just wandered into the area, not even thinking to check for quests and stuff she can do. "So, any plans on how to get this bounty down as quick as possible? It seems relatively dangerous, or perhaps that's just flavor text meant to scare us."
Yeongmae was honestly a little scared. Perhaps it was just the nature of the game, but she was scared of perhaps falling prey to such a creature. She did not even think about the possibility of these two possibly leading her to her death, which gave her a slight anxious feeling in the gut. Hopefully they would not do that to her, but things are not so unheard of. Fear struck her head, but her outward appearance remained controlled and static, as to not give rise to any suspicions the others would have. If truly they were helping, perhaps this could be the start of a useful friendship.

Skadi had been just about to offer Yeongmae a ride on her mount, but Anya was already on it. The woman blinked, somewhat surprised; Anya had never been the particularly chivalrous type, but she supposed the woman must be as eager to actually reach the fight as she was. The moment Yeongmae was seated, she ushered the kitsune into a brisk trot in her best guess as to the direction of the bounty. After all, screams echoed in a place like this.
It was at about that time that Yeongmae uttered words that crushed the heart of the Vanadis. 'As quickly as possible ... The woman's hand went to her chest but she kept on moving. "We can handle it." She said, glancing over her shoulder at the other women. "I am a defender. My job is to keep its attention off of the rest of you." And Saskia had no intention of failing in that. It was simple as that.
"Besides, if the game is capable of holding back the souls of dead players, for whatever purpose, it's even more technologically advanced than anyone would have guessed." Skadi scoffed, not at all convinced that the bounty description was anything more than flavor text. She stopped short, narrowing her eyes as she overheard another scream, this one closer. Skadi wasted no time, turning the kitsune towards the noise in a full canter. After all, she had to deliver on her promise and gain its attention before either of the other two, and it would be just like Anya to rush in too.
She saw its hand smacking her right off of her mount before she saw the monster itself, the air knocked out of her as she fell flat on her back.
A good second impression.

[attr="class","bang"] [attr="class","bangimg"] [attr="class","bangtext"]Anya took a glance over her shoulder, making sure that the new player had gotten on alright. Deciding that they were ready to head out, the woman grinned, shouting back, "hang on tight!" She took care not to urge Sasha into breakneck speed, but it was definitely fast considering how much she favored the feeling of wind against her face. If the utility would hang onto her for dear life, she wouldn't mind it. "If you have to hold onto me then do so. I'm not going to go any slower; no fun that way." The Slayer laughed wildly, racing behind their defender after she had given the woman a head start.
"Really though, most of this shit is made up." Anya snorted, "doesn't matter if it's a ghost or not either way. We're just interested in smacking the ever living shit out of it." Like Skadi, all she wanted to do was to play around with the new bounty boss as long as possible. She could only hope that it the battle would last longer than their usual. After the Abaddon raid, both women agreed that they were feeling restless with the lack of challenges available. It was out of luck, that this particular boss was well and alive -- er, existing.
Upon arriving, it was clear that this one showed promise with the first attack knocking Skadi right off her mount. Anya whistled, steering clear of the Vanadis and dismounting immediately. "Going after pasty ass over there and don't worry about her -- she's fine." The attacker left those words for their new party mate, leaving the utility to decide their own actions. Brandishing her sword, Anya took her shot at the boss, rushing in recklessly with a strong swing aimed right for the bounty's head. A white flash was the last thing she saw as her attack had whiffed at the air, missing the thing completely. There was no time to process what had happened when Anya felt a blow knock her down.
This fucker was fast and it was strong.

Yeongmae underestimated how fast Seneca's mount was, and immediately held onto her by wrapping her arms around her waist. She hadn't ridden a mount before, so it was a completely new experience for her. Her heartrate immediately rose, but this might have been influenced by the paranoia that washed over her only moments before. In fact, past the initial rush of fear, she actually quite enjoyed this ride. She let out a soft sigh before enjoying the wind racing through her hair and the environment quickly changing scenes, as if it were all some sort of lucid dream that she really wished she was in right now.
But, that level of joy quickly went to a halt as soon as the bounty appeared. It was... freaky. It was so humanoid and disfigured, just like something from the older horror video games she used to play as a child. But, the increased detail to graphics as well as the life-and-death factor of BWO made everything hyperrealistic. She paused for a moment as Skadi and Seneca both dismounted and tried to go for the creature, but both failed their first attempts of attack. It took her a good ten seconds to snap out of her mini trance before dismounting the mount herself and springing into action.
She immediately hopped back off of the mount and ran back a few feet, probably twenty or thirty. She wanted to gain distance before activating one of her spells as to not draw any aggro, and she judged that this amount of space was good enough, as the other two had already engaged the bounty. "I'm saving my heal for when you guys need it, I'll be working on widdling some of it's health down!" she said, prepping her stance for Spirit Channel: The Poisoned. She opened her grimoire, and the pages flipped back and forth rather vigorously. She concentrated on calling out to the spirits who were poisoned before their death, physically or metaphorically. The last few times she cast this spell, she realized that not all the spirits were necessarily poisoned with a physical substance, but rather they all endured something that slowly took their life away. Whether it be a deliberate assassination through someone's last supper or an emotionally drained man in a toxic relationship, it all spoke to her when she cast the spell. Before long, Yeongmae opened her eyes which now had started to glow emerald green, a stark difference from when she wasn't spellcasting. From her pages, a purple miasma started to seep out and fall like evaporating dry ice, and within seconds the whole battlefield within 60 feet of her was covered in small streams of this toxic mist. "Just like before, my spirits will protect you from the poison," she said, reassuring Skadi and Seneca that they would be fine. "It only affects monsters."
A small stream of mist could be seen entering the bounty's mouth, with a small poison effect taking place. As long as it was within 60 feet of Yeongmae, it would slowly be afflicted with the toxic fumes. It wasn't anything too significant at this level of power, but it definitely was a small start to its health bar. She only hoped that Skadi and Seneca could keep it off her for the time being, as one hit from that thing could end Yeongmae's life.

It took a moment, the air knocked out of her, but then a grin broke her face. Finally, a real challenge that was almost all to herself. Considering her company to be capable, there was no hesitation as she leaped to her feet and stepped forward towards the disfigured bounty. This time, she did not burst forward leaving a trail of ice. Rather, as she took the step forward, a layer of invisible ice shot out over the ground around her and towards the bounty, cold washing over all within the parameter and drawing the direct attention of the monster before her.
She welcomed it.
Anya had already been knocked down and taken a hit. All Skadi had to do was make sure that it did not happen again, and the spike in aggro was sure to help what was only just beginning. Skadi narrowed her eyes as the monster drifted towards her, disembodied hands unencumbered by anatomy as they lashed out towards her. She slashed across with her bladed shield, more intent on keeping the monster's focus on her than actually doing damage. When the mist came, Skadi glanced over her shoulder to notice that the new girl's eyes were glowing green. Well, okay. They'd take whatever help they could get, and as long as the poison was only going to clog the monster in front of her ...
Skadi grinned and stepped further into the mosnter's embrace, icicles breaking up the ground around her and right through the limbs of the monster as they encircled her.

[attr="class","bang"] [attr="class","bangimg"] [attr="class","bangtext"]Anya pushed herself off from the ground, shaking herself off of the dizziness that gripped at her head. Man, she took a huge blow from that one. Getting back to her feet, the pale woman turned to face the equally pale and mangled bounty boss with a quirked eyebrow. "We're matching skins..." Anya stated with a frown, head tilting at the spectre-like creature. Yikes. It was almost eerie that the boss shared other physical similarities with her such as it's silvery hair. Talk about off-putting.
"Be right there, Skadi!" Anya called out, bringing up her interface to equip Lilith's Embrace, trails of black flames left in her wake as she reentered the fight. With the Vanadis handling the creature face-to-face and their new utility doing work from afar, Anya stepped in to slice at the monster's side, aiming for any openings. It howled, sending another limb straight for her, but this time, she was prepared as she kept her ground to eat the hit. The blow knocked her back, but not down. The damage was taken off her health, widening her smirk as the body was enveloped in the black flames of the underworld, inflicting the same damage right back to it.
Anya whistled, impressed by just how much damage the boss had taken with their combined efforts. The damage from their new party mate was adding up over time and between Skadi and herself, the chances were looking good.

Yeongmae had been channeling for quite sometime now, and by the look of her channeling time left, she had about thirty seconds. Seneca and Skadi both were pretty decent on health, nothing too dire, and she was afraid of overhealing and wasting precious time and resources doing so. Besides, it was rare that Yeongmae had the chance to do things other than spellcast, and she felt like this was the perfect opportunity to showcase some other battle tactics she's been hiding.
While not super powerful, Yeongmae's basic attack was a barrage of small purple spirits launched at her foe, as if they were small creatures to be at her command. At this point of her progression, she is unable to attack while channeling, which unfortunately offers very little support on the offensive end of things. Her basic attacks could potentially add up in the end, given she can do both channel spells and constantly attack, but she was not powerful enough to do so and thus channeling takes all her concentration. At the end of her channel, the mist quickly cleared up, and Yeongmae was on the offensive. She opened up her grimoire and numerous small orbs floated around her, as if they were fireflies waiting to dance. She reached her hand forward toward the bounty, and within seconds a small batch of them bulleted towards it, dodging any allies in it's path to try and hit the target. It was never a guarantee hit, but they were fast ranged attacks that had the force of a punch to them. She launched a few more, keeping the distance as to not get herself in the danger zone.
"I'll start healing when you both are at 60% or if one of you is below 40%, don't want to waste my skill and overheal," she said, confident and still launching a few spirits every few seconds. "I'll keep attacking until then."

Working together, they were clearly doing very well. Skadi was almost disappointed, having hoped to be truly challenged. In a way, she was; even with the taunt from the Vanadis, Anya was able to find herself in the way of the bounty's attack once again. Briefly, Skadi was grateful that the healer wasn't acting the same way; it eased the woman's mind to know she wouldn't have to divert the beast's attention from more than one of her party members.
Or perhaps that wasn't the right way to put it.
Skadi watched the swarm of purple spirits assailed the white one, frowning as the target's health dipped further and further. Was that it? some twist of words to get into their heads, and nothing else? sure, the creature's movements were hindered by spines of ice driven up through its legs, but she had expected ... more. especially with the battery of spirits driving the monster back; it would be easy for the creature to break free, admittedly at great pain to itself.
when the woman explained herself to them, skadi blinked and glanced back at her. "i'll trust your judgment. keep going." she called back, turning her attention back to the monster. and stepping forward in an effort to pull his attention back to herself. hopefully, the longer snowball effect had to kick in, the less and less likely it was that the so-called player's spirit would be able to focus on anything but her. not that it seemed like something to worry about; anya was still standing strong, even after the second savage blow.
it came as a surprise when the monster reached into itself, pulling free a sword skadi had assumed to be lodged in its own body. understanding immediately where this was going, the defender closed any further gap between herself and the enemy, disallowing the ghost from seeing anything but her as she cut towards its throat with the blade of her shield. the monster parried the blow, knocking her back and lunging into her side. skadi did not flinch, feeling the pain as her health bar drifted further down, unworried as she activated ice cap, a layer of frost drawing over both herself and her two party members for additional defense - just in case. the moment that much was done, she made a move to knock away the monster's sword, mouth twisting into a smile.

[attr="class","bang"] [attr="class","bangimg"] [attr="class","bangtext"]Anya stopped in place, blinking slowly at the creature as it began to draw out weapons from it's fucked up body. Her lips pulled back at the distinct sickening sound of sword leaving flesh. God, it was gross. Jumping to the side, Anya dodged a swing from above, the ground cracking under the new weight of it's blow. Her eye widened at the damage, looking toward the distracted defender then back down at the shattered ground. "Whoa." Anya moved away from the clusters of light as they rammed themselves into the pale monster, pushing it back just a bit. The Slayer whistled, "not bad, new blood."
Her throat, however, tightened when Saskia had been injured during the exchanges, but not without disarming the boss right after to create another opening. "Let's see how you deal with this!" the woman yelled out, dashing forward to unleash a two-handed swing across it's chest. With it's weapon gone now, Anya attacked freely. She swung wildly at the torn up body leaving neither of them the chance to catch a breath until she was done. The revenant was still standing, though more than wounded. There was no flinching when it had brought back it's arm to slam it into her side, sending her skidding back, activating the ability of her armor. The damage that she had taken had now been reflected upon the fallen soul, lighting it up in black flames originating from the underworld itself. Yeongmae had been monitoring Skadi and Senecas health closely, as to make sure that no one was in risk of losing their lives. They had both sustained damage, but Skadi's defense buff was active, so at least they wouldn't fall so easily, if at all. At this point, it would be safe to heal them up as long as she could. Yeongmae stopped her spiritual assault and began Spirit Channel: The Drowned, her eyes turning a deep glowing blue as purpley liquidy spirits started to pour out of her book and found their way to Seneca and Skadi. The spirits covered their wounds and started to slowly regenerate both of their health bars. It would take a while for them to get to full, but the defense buff should help with that process.
Yeongmae was slowly starting to worry: what would happen if the bounty had some sort of special attack that no one was ready for? Yeongmae hadn't encountered an enemy of this calibre before, and so she was on her guard, making sure that she would be ready for any signs or signal from the other two just in case. While she was low leveled, she was hopeful that her supportive skills were of some use.
