Initially, he'd been curious to explore what the adventurers meant by their class descriptions. There were a million things that he wasn't aware of but slowly yet surely the blanks were being filled. As he was initially interested in finding out what his class description was, once the proverbial cat had been killed, he was left with a slight gloom. His class was designated to be Ace and one of the harder classes to master. Perhaps it was his luck or his misfortune to be placed in a category like that, he'd never know. What he was aware of was the mission at hand which needed individuals who were accustomed to the throes of battle. They were tasked with teaching new recruits in how to fight against monsters. But I don't even know how I fight monsters.Everything seemed to come naturally as if it was ingrained in his very memory or at least the part that he couldn't reach. His body moved and flourished with every weapon that met his hands or at least it would if he had any other weapons besides the rusted sword holstered on his hip. Blank crossed his arms over his chest and sighed as he watched some of the townsfolk begin setting up. He unequipped his cloak and rolled up his sleeves. If he was going to do this, he might as well help as best as he could. notes: anyone is welcome.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi was itching to do something. Anything at all. Ever since she found out that she was stuck in this hell of a hole, she scoured the entire town for information and news on what was happening in the outside world. Everyone's findings was pretty much the same. In order for them to get out of this game alive, they had to play by its rules. That wasn't going to be a problem for Naomi. She was more than ready to get out there and beat this game to a bloody pulp. No one keeps her trapped in anything. Not if she could do something about it. It meant leaving the city to fight monsters, level up, get more money so she could get better equipment and fight stronger monsters. The cycle was simple enough. As soon as she learned everything she needed to know, she was up and running, grabbing quests to do. And that was how she discovered one of the quests around town. According to the description, she had to teach some civilian NPCs how to fight, and she could get armor out of it. While she hasn't actually done any real fighting at the moment, she figured all they really needed to know was how to point the shard end of their stick at the enemy - and not amongst themselves. Once she accepted it, she made her way to the marked destination, unfurling her wings to get there even quicker. She could see an open area where townsfolk were gathering. Nearly all of them had the NPC marks on their head, except for one. Eyes honing on her target, she adjusted her flight and landed gracefully right beside the white haired man. She straightened up, folding back her wings until they were nestled comfortably on her back, before looking at the other player with a smile. "Hey there. I'll be participating in this quest as well. Hope you don't mind." She threw a wink before moving closer to the growing crowd. blank

Blank finished setting a few of the boxes on top of one another and organizing the training dummies so they were a few meters apart. There were a few other things that needed to be done but he'd have to act fast if he wanted to get this done before nightfall. A few people began murmuring and some of the cadets who were hauling a few other boxes looked to the skies. Blank tilted his head to the side as he turned away from the training dummy that he was straightening up, looking up just in time to notice something falling down. He jumped back, staggering and falling on his bum from the shock of it all. A young woman with strikingly pink hair stood in front of him and with a little wink she staked her claim in the quest. Blank tilted his head and stared after her as she approached the growing crowd. That was definitely unexpected buta s he noticed a few of the other trainees were distracted by her, it could also prove to be troublesome. "Excuse me, miss."Hopefully this wasn't going to be as catastrophic as the other times he had to talk to someone about quest details. "We're supposed to be setting up first, so if you wouldn't mind."He gestured to the array of training equipment and boxes that had to be unloaded from a carriage. Wouldn't do if they were just left there and the trainees had nothing to train with. papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Most if not all eyes were on Naomi as she strode with purpose and gusto, stepping up to the front with her hands on her hips. She regarded the group carefully, observing their reactions and their movements, trying to guess which among them had potential. Everything was running smoothly, until her thoughts were interrupted by a voice from behind. "Yes?" She looked back at the other player, tilting her head to one side as she waited for him to speak further. At his explanation, she glanced at all the things that were being moved around. That was when she noticed the NPCs with boxes, weapons and armor in their arms; plus the boxes piled up close to the white haired man himself. Realizing her mistake, she giggled and stuck her tongue out sheepishly. "Whoops. My bad. Of course I'll help out!" Since he was quite nice and polite about it, Naomi was more than happy to oblige. She walked towards the carriage, looking through the items stacked there, and determining which she could carry with ease. After a second, she settled on grabbing several swords and grunted as she bundled them up and lifted them all at the same time. blank

Well, at least she seem excited about the work they were doing. Blank wasn't one for menial labor considering that he spent most of his time in books. But there had to be a reason that he decided to be an Ace instead of any other class, and a considerable amount of bulk was needed to defend other people. He hummed a tune as he stacked a few boxes on top of one another to lift them up. They obscured his vision but they weren't heavy enough for him to stagger under their weight. "My name is Blank," he said. "What's yours?"He carried the boxes over to where others were stacked in different arrangements. Setting them down, Blank wiped the sweat from his brow only to find that even though his hand felt a little wet and cold, there was nothing else. But I felt it.A part of him wondered if it was just an illusion but he'd have to write it down later on anyway. He started stacking the boxes and made sure that they were pointing in the right direction. For all intensive purposes, this looked a bit like a maze and as he noticed some of the cadets start stretching - he could imagine what it was going to be used for. Blank settled his hands on his hips as he stepped back. "We might have to help them through this."There was an area for sparring, a maze for them to go through, and target practice. Hopefully some of this or any of it would help. papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again At the white haired man's question, Naomi stopped to glance at his direction. She could barely see him with all those boxes he carried, and was impressed that he could even carry them all at once. "Papilion," she replied as she resumed walking, stopping to drop her load along with all the other swords that were already piling up on the ground. "It's nice to meet you Blank!"Moving to stand beside him, she followed his gaze, watching the NPCs as they started stretching and getting pumped up for training. "Well, that's what the quest is all about isn't it? To help them learn how to fight." At least they looked eager to start. It would be harder to teach people who didn't like what they were doing. She clasped her hands behind her back and pursed her lips in thought. The only kind of training she'd ever done in her life were her weekly gym sessions back in the real world. Those focused on maintaining her body and health; nothing at all like what she was supposed to teach these NPCs now. As fun as it sounded at first, Naomi knew absolutely nothing about how to fight. She was just as lost as the rest of these NPCs. Glancing at Blank, she gave him a helpless look. "Any ideas?"blank

The idea of teaching someone didn't quite sink in until the prospect was standing right in front of him. Blank sat down on one of the crates and took in the set up around them. There were a few things that he could think up which could be done. He picked up a broken piece of one of the training dummy's posts and tapped it against his knee as he looked around. They could start with the training dummies and rain hell on them or head through the maze, it was easier to see the path up top but from a ground-level it was a lot harder. "You can fly, right?"
He looked to Papilion with a raised eyebrow as he stood up. A few of the cadets stood at attention while others talked among themselves. He couldn't decipher what her name meant but it sounded very pretty. He made a mental note to write it down later. "Well, let's do the maze first. You fly above and I'll lead them on the ground level. A few times, you can push some of the crates in to distract them or confuse them."Blank drew his sword and rolled it around in his hand, he'd have to get a new one eventually but it'd suit for this exercise. "Sound good?"papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi moved her hands from behind her back to rest on her hips as she watched Blank sit on the crates. A few seconds passed as he thought her question over, playing with one of the broken pieces of a training dummy while he did. She was more than happy to let him mull it over for a bit, as long as he came up with an idea afterwards. When he asked her about her abilities, she nodded and opened up her wings to prove it. "What's the plan?" she asked as Blank got up to his feet. There was a sense of clarity in his gaze now, like he'd come up with something good. As he explained the plan, Naomi nodded while grinning excitedly. She took a few steps back from him as he took out his sword, then saluted cheerfully. "Roger that!"With a beat from her wings, she lifted herself up into the air, hovering above Blank as she waited for him to approach the NPCs to tell them of his plan. This wasn't exactly fighting, but it would help them adjust to random situations that may happen at any given time. She understood the importance of having quick reactions, using well-honed instincts that could one day save your life. Plus, she was looking forward to dropping crates on the poor, unsuspecting souls down below. blank

Once Papilion was in position, Blank turned to the cadets with a little smile on his face. They were unsuspecting and probably thinking that this was going to be a fun or easy experience. To be honest he'd probably think the same if he was training with a greenhorn instructor. But that's what made it interesting. They didn't suspect him which would make it so much easier to surprise them. Blank rolled his sword over in his hand a few more times. They were people which meant that using his abilities against them may be a bit much. However, sometimes even people turned against each other so it may be better for them to realize that now. "We're going into the maze first, all of you will be heading in on this end. And you keep going until you leave out the other end."One of the more verbose cadets laughed behind his hand and Blank raised a brow. "Something funny?"Everyone's eyes was on him but he seemed to revel in the attention. "Just saying, I don't know how solving a maze is going to help me defend my home."With each word he took a step towards Blank and the two met eye to eye. Blank raised a brow and his smile broadened. "Start running."The cadets moved into the maze though the one lingering in front of him took longer to join the others. Once they were inside, Blank looked up to where Papilion was and gave her a thumbsup to rain down hell. While she busied herself with that, he'd start making his way to the other end. papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again From her viewpoint, she could see Blank and all of the NPCs up for training. She watched as the white haired man spoke to the crowd, probably to explain what they were about to do, and raised an eyebrow in amusement as one of the townspeople went up to him. While she couldn't hear the words being exchanged, she could tell by their faces and their gestures what the talk was all about. Blank responded, and thankfully the NPCs started moving. For a moment, she had been worried that they wouldn't listen to the other player. But things were rolling now, as the men entered through the maze in single file. Catching Blank's gaze, she grinned at his thumbs up, and flew along the top of the maze. She went to the sides, hiding among the crates so that the townspeople wouldn't know she was there. Then, listening closely to the sound of their footsteps, she waited until nearly half of them had passed before shoving the crates in front of her. The crash and the screams nearly had her in giggles as chaos ensued. She didn't reveal herself though, flying below and past them for her next attack. Over and over she would send boxes falling, in random patterns and at different intervals. By the end of the maze, most if not all the NPCs were nursing bruises. Served them right for not taking the training seriously. blank

Blank took his time with heading to the other part of the maze. Partly because he wasn't going to rush Papilion's work, and because one of the cadets vexed him which meant that the others would have to work a little harder. Perhaps some group cajoling would inspire them to work together as a team or learn when to keep their opinions to themselves. While he walked, he examine the blade in his hand. It was rusted and the use would soon be gone if it broke. He told himself to get a new one at some point but it felt as though everything else was taking priority. Well, he'd just have to put up with the state of his blade for now. It'd probably scare the cadets even more considering a rusted blade would leave quite a bit of bacteria in wounds. Bacteria?Sometimes words popped in his head and he felt like he knew them but it was so far off that he wasn't sure. A few screams of terror and curses brought him back to reality as he stood on the other side of the maze, awaiting the cadets who would come through. He was certain that a few of them would leave but others may be bull-headed or brave enough to continue on. As he waited, he looked to where Papilion was and motioned for her to continue with a wave of his hand. Might inspire them to move a little faster. papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again While sneaking around and clearly enjoying how she was making the NPCs' lives a bit more difficult with some tough love, Naomi caught sight of Blank trying to catch her attention. The group was at the last portion of the maze, nearly getting there but doing it slowly now as they actively looked out for her many 'traps'. A shame. She wanted to hassle them a bit longer, but did as she was told and began flying over to the white haired player. This was clearly just the beginning, and she was looking forward to more later on. Who knew giving people a hard time could be so much fun? Landing sprightly beside him, she grinned and held up a V with her fingers. "That worked out very well, don't you think?"Turning back to the maze, she got impatient and cupped her hands together as she called the attention of those still inside. "The first person to come out of that maze can get a kiss from me~" she declared. blank

Well, he was glad that at least one of them were enjoying this exercise. Truthfully he felt a little better after hearing the screams of terror especially if some came from that unruly cadet who confronted him in the beginning. However, it was a little daunting to know that he felt joy from someone else's pain. But seeing as the amount of tough calls that he'd been in - it felt good to be on the giving end instead of the receiving end of fate's games. "You were great," he said. "Ten out of ten, would recommend."As soon as the words left his mouth, confusion fell on him. Where'd he hear that phrase before? Before he could fall into his thoughts and speculations, Papilion issued a reward to the cadets which made him nearly jump out of his skin. A kiss? Why would she want to kiss any of them when she barely knew who they were? Of course, he didn't have the right to impede on her affairs and she was clearly smart enough to handle herself but - why was he worrying so much? I'm an Ace. Not a chivalrous knight to the rescue. But then it dawned on him, comparing this to a story, if he was the one keeping them from obtaining their prize then wasn't it like he was the villain? Somehow that set better with him than anything else. A little smile formed as he approached the maze, standing in the way of them leaving. He could see a few of the cadets turning the corner. "Get ready."papilion

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi furrowed her brows in confusion as she watched Blank take another step forward, until he was standing right in front of the exit. If he stood there as the NPCs were running towards it, he would be getting in the wa - oh. Oh. She pressed both hands to her mouth as she laughed discreetly, eyes twinkling as Blank gave her some heads up. Already she could hear the footsteps of those at the very front of the trainees, growing louder the closer they got to what they believed was their end goal. The first of the NPCs came into view, looking happy and eager to get his prize, only to have his hopes dashed as he spotted Blank in the way. They all skidded to a stop as they looked from Blank to herself, unsure on how to proceed. Trying to look as helpless as she could, Naomi clasped both of her hands together as she gazed upon the NPCs with exaggerated dread. At the same time, she started taking a few steps back, with every intention of avoiding the chaos that will ensue once they realize what they have to do to 'win', so to speak. "Someone please, save me! This evil villain is going to take me away!"blank

The trainees looks varied from confusion to exasperation as Blank stood in their way. If he was being honest, he could understand how they must've felt. Having items pelted on you from above and being forced to run the rest of the way through a maze that you thought would be easy. But he supposed that it would take a few more tries for them to figure out why teamwork would be important. "You heard her," he said. "If you don't get past me then you can't rescue her and what a shame that'd be."As if to play the part, his smile took on a maniacal twinge. If he was going to be the villain then he might as well sell it. Blank pointed his sword at each of them and hummed. "Though I suppose you guys are a thousand years too early to think you're capable of beating me."The headstrong cadet that he spoke to earlier was the first one to step up as the others seemed unsure of themselves. He was shaking and seemed haggard from the amount of training that they went through thus far. Even sporting a red bruise on his forehead where his hair had been pulled back, more than likely to allow him to see better. "Really? C'mon, he's just one guy. What can he do?"
The area around Blank's heart began to glow showing an outline of it beating. He took a few steps forward and the trainees took a few steps back though the one who spoke out stood on shaky footing. The trainee rushed at him and Blank stepped to the side as he sloppily threw a punch. Raising his sword, he brought it down on the small of his back causing him to fall forward. "Well, that was anti-climatic."Once the trainee was on the ground, Blank reached down to grab him by the collar of his shirt and toss him back where the others were. He fell down in a heap and groaned as the dust rose. His partners looked confused and as if they wanted to turn back but one stood to help him up. "Try again."He looked to Papilion and smiled a little. papilion
