W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 572 NOTES say something nice | This place was something to behold for Kuma, she had never really known a world so.. Perfect? Was that even the word to use to describe this Hell that was thrust upon her? Yes.. This was as close to perfect as the world could become, here things were not so different than the real world. The only difference was her lack of gun use. It’s not like she didn’t know how to use them; but rather she preferred to not have one if possible. The thrill of a fight consisted of close combat and the blood rushing through your veins. You really knew your enemy before you killed them or you yourself perished in the fight. Secondly being here gave her a chance to rebuild what she didn’t have out in the world.. She wished for a new pack to call her own. Here in Broken War there seemed to be no end to the possibilities that would enable such a dream to come true. Not the mention the factor of death was out of her hands. Death by the strong was a wish along with having strong allies to walk beside through the rest of this Hell. Her mind remained deep in thought as her lone optics scanned the streets slowly. The Town of Origins seemed to be less and less packed as people either moved on or died. “Peace to the Fallen..” Valmet murmured as her features turned from impassive to slight distress. Her small bare feet carried her towards the Militia side of the Town. NPC’s walked this way and that chained to whatever destiny their coding entailed. They lacked the freedom to roam and most likely lacked the freedom of speech.. Unless the system itself enabled to them learn and speak as if they were real? What a sick but interesting thought. Enabling those who lacked freedom the freedom to speak to trap and lock down players from wanting to leave. A low but rather beastly laugh left her thick lips as her body shuddered at the thought. There had to be something better for her to do than roam a dying town and psych herself out. Snapping back to reality the lass had to observe her surroundings slowly. Despite she could not see anyone around her, her senses told her otherwise. There were plenty of NPC’s who seemed to be locked in one area, turning her head her eyes fell upon the barracks. “Oh?! A Barracks this far out of the Town Central.. Must be kind of lonely..” Narrowing her eye Valmet smirked as she walked inside. With every step her bare feet brought her closer to the Barracks doors. Her camo pants stopped at her knees while a lone long sleeve shirt covered her endowed top. Her arms remained out of sight as she swiftly equipped her hand clawed gauntlets. Swiftly skipping up the steps the scent of battle was in the air just as the sound of clashing metal could be heard. “Ohh~ Now this should be a good time waster till I find something more.. Satisfying!~” She said as she licked her lips gently. Stepping through the open doors the lass approached the Captain of the Town Militia. “Heya~ I was wondering.. Do you need any assistance with anything or do you offer training space for local adventurers?” Gazing up at the man her lone golden optic glinted with hope and burned with hunger.

they weren't even real.
skadi let her eyes glance over the men in uniform, npcs and not players, and frowned. she had decided to go ahead and try her hand at quests, but it seemed ... pointless. did it even have any lasting effect, or did everything just reset so that more players could take on the quest later? she wasn't sure how the game worked, exactly, in this regard, but something about it felt ... trivial. pointless. like a waste of time.
cold blue eyes glanced over to see a woman, an actual player if the nametag over her head was anything to say about it, approaching the captain of the guard. he launched into the same spiel about the militia needing training that he had on her. something about needing to train the fresh recruits to be able to handle monsters. if what she had experienced so far was anything to go by, they were probably worse equipped than goblins. even with the best information she could give to the advanced ai behind each one of them, she knew they didn't stand a chance. they were fodder, and nothing more. more importantly, their lives weren't her responsibility.
skadi inhaled slowly, listening to the leader of them all press the importance to the new arrival, but it fell flat on skadi's ears. "that's not right. you need to raise your shield higher." she corrected one of the recruits before her practicing their blocking, but let her eyes drift back to the player. she didn't seem familiar. perhaps there would be something worth watching here after all. then again, perhaps not.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 513 NOTES 2/10 | “Welcome! We are seeking aid in training the troops against monster assaults on the town! Please! We could use your assistance dear adventurer! [ Accept Militia Training? ] [Yes / No ]
Rubbing her chin she gazed straight through the man running through the various end results of the training. Yet before she even accepted the quest her senses pinged as the game notified her senses that she was not alone. The sensory factor never pinged for NPC’s unless they were hostile thus; this one had to be a player in general. Gazing off to her left side Kuma spotted the blue eyed female watching her.
Who was she exactly? What was with her uniform? Was she from a guild? Swiping the quest she accepted it without a second glance. Her lone eye remained upon Skadi as she commented on the shield walls posture. They would indeed need to raise their shields higher, without a proper defense how could they defend their partner or themselves properly? Valmet seemed to glide down the steps before touching the sand bathed floor with ease. An even as she did so the air about the field changed almost instantly. An intent to kill..
The Wolf was coming.. Was it an ability that she contained? No it was the sheer force of her will and nature to give off a chill. The fiendish smile accented her long golden eye with ease. Kuma was no human in the eyes of most; no she was an untamable beast with a mission. Looking to her left and right she smirked before beckoning to a group of troops. “Training time for you Pups! Come! Show me what you know!!” Growling heavily her toothy smile flashed with excitement and energy. Her body slowly began to sway as she waited in anticipation for combat.
The first of the troops rose up to her feet and prepared her spear. Rushing forward the lass gave a shout as she jabbed for Kuma’s chest. Kuma side stepped with ease her giant jacket swiftly came undone as she burst from its folds. Rushing forward her clawed left hand swiped viciously at the armored girls side. Sending the NPC to the side Kuma did not stop her advance, her passive had kicked in and thus her pace increased.
The next wielded a sword and shield preparing himself shield first Kuma smiled. “Like she said your shield is too low..” Remarking on his posture Kuma dropped down into a baseball slide. Kicking the bottom of the shield with one foot the other kicked against its broader side. She forced him back and up after knocking him off guard; onward she pressed rolling along the floor she swept his feet sending him to the ground. “Come on come on!” Bouncing to her feet she held a southpaw fighting style with her gauntlet claws ready to strike. The other three had enough time to prepare themselves during her assault. Stepping back they had a semi-circle formed before Kuma. Two held only swords the other held a spear in hand ready to strike.

Skadi watched Kuma's attack with interest. Personally, she had turned her nose up to the prospect of fighting the soldiers herself; they were too weak, it was like bringing the slaughter right to the lambs. There was no challenge in it. Vaguely, she wondered what the woman hoped to learn, or teach, from this. That they were weaker than players? Skadi did not intervene, choosing instead to observe.
Perhaps the girl was inexperienced enough that it should be a challenge for her, and yet it did not seem that way at all. No, even against multiple enemies it was a battle of uneven footing, something that did not personally appeal to her. The three remaining of her troops approached, and Skadi finally spoke. "Use coordinated attacks. See if you can overwhelm her. If there's only one enemy, they'll make a mistake eventually." She ordered, voice cold as she watched, only catching out of her peripheral as some of the bruised and beaten guards pulled themselves up.
'Don't hesitate." Her voice grew more scathing as she noticed one of them pausing rather than advancing like the others. "There will be no fairness when monsters attack you. You are not strong enough to hold your own, so recognize that and adjust. If you do not fight together, you will all die." Perhaps not the best way to raise morale, but that had never been her expertise anyway. With that done, she was more than happy to watch the outcome of the combined strike. She assumed the player would come out victorious in the end, but perhaps she had a teachable moment planned.
or, perhaps, it wasn't about them at all.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS --- NOTES Game on! 3/10 | What was this..? The other was giving good advice to the novice fighters. Their eyes burned with power and desire as they stepped forward in unison. Cocking her head to the side, Kuma was very interested to know about the other lady. Flexing her hands slowly the pixel knuckle joints cracked before their approach went to full scale.
The spear man began to test the waters as he poked at her defenses. The swords men on the other part shifted to try and enclose her in. The buff perk began to blink slowly as the time for it had almost expired unless renewed. Making the move first she did not fully let them enclose her in. Stepping to and past the spearman’s thrust she ducked low and cut high. The swords men followed in pursuit. Knocking the spearman off balance Kuma grabbed him by the shoulders before bursting into action. Throwing the center of her balance beneath the man’s own she popped her hips and threw him over her shoulder into the two swordsmen. One was able to skirt the flung companion while the other took the brunt of the force. With a sword held at an angle he cut at Kuma in an arch forcing her to block with one side bracing with the other arm. Her legs crouched beneath her preventing her from going backwards towards the wall.
The lad from before readied his shield holding it higher this time as instructed. Bringing up the other side he swung upon Kuma forcing her to jump back to avoid being struck. To block with both arms meant she would open herself up to be hit with either a shield or worst something sharp. Being pushed back seemed to give the warriors hope as they pursued her.
Kuma had enough time to regain herself before the two were upon her again. The first lad swing again from the side to cut her from shoulder to hip. Kuma was about to move in when the shield bearer came in from the outside side jabbing at her with the sword. This forced her to jump back again, this time the wall now gave her no place to go. Her lone eye narrowed a bit as tides and tables seemed to have turned. The rest sat back and watched her for the time being. From Kuma’s view she could see Skadi standing the furthest away from her position. Kuma no longer cared for the small fry she wanted the brain of the operation now.
Skadi was now on the menu! Growling low Kuma watched as the two approached again in the same fashion. This time Kuma dashed to her right stepping to the outside of the chop. Jabbing her clawed hand into the side of the man’s helm he went down. The shield bearer came next this time, slashing across at the belly Kuma stepped into his guard. Blocking his attack at the hilt she bucked against his shield sending him back. Coming in again the man gave a desperate jab at Kuma upon her approach. Taking a small pixel gash to the side of her cheek she hit him again. This time she clawed the arm before clawing him across the face.
The buff once more was active this time having three stacks. Shifting side to side Kuma would soon move faster than most could react. Rushing forward she ducked under a wide swing clawing the leg before jumping up to knee the next person square in the nose. Using the falling body as a stepping point Kuma cleared the gap and her buff maxed out. Her attack speed and movement speed became very hard to follow. Quickly she dropped the next few guards in a fury of punches and kicks. Upon her approach to Skadi Kuma dragged a large NPC behind her back.
Using it as a small missile she judo threw him towards and hopefully into skadi.

Impressive.
The woman had to shift in her focus when the trainees followed her orders, but before long she was turning the tide back in her favor, using the opposition as some kind of friction to increase her speed more than Skadi would have assumed. For some reason, she hadn't expected one of the trainees to be outright thrown at her, but the moment the shock wore off Skadi broke into a grin. She summoned glacial teeth up around her, icicles jutting out defensively for once rather than offensively. Rather than the Vanadis, the trainee was thrown into a wall of ice while Skadi was given time to equip her enforcer.
With a swipe of her arm, the icicles around her broke away and she pointed the tip of the bladed shield towards the woman, expecting her to lunge at her but not willing to give her the option to remain in range, either. More icicles began to form out of the chill in the air around her, shooting towards the other player. Her heart was beating wildly. No duel or pvp had begun, so no actual damage would be taken from their health bars, but a spar would be so much better than the dull instruction she'd been doling out previously.
Whatever Kuma decided to do next, she welcomed it.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS --- NOTES Sweet!! 4/10 | Oh?! What an interesting person to have training the troops. The woman was full of surprises that brought a fire to Kuma’s eye and step. Her body remained low as she swiftly ducked to the right avoiding the first, dipping her shoulder the next slipped past her body. Swatting the next one down the girl closed the gap carefully observing this spiked shield. The front of it held a blade by her observation to which she now understood the others class. The Defender had taken up defense in a manner that did not suit Kuma’s advance. Yet that did not stop her attempt, the challenge was accepted. Quickly the over coat came off as if it were a cape.
Balling it up Kuma was sure to roll off to the woman’s left side due to her right handed grip. She did not want things to get too heated too quickly. Keeping the cloak in hand she had no doubt that she would need to keep moving. Her buff still hand moments to go before her speed would drop down to normal thus she hand to make it count. Upon finishing her roll the lass moved circular around Skadi aiming to take the woman’s back while flinging up her cloak to smoke screen the other. Yet as the coat opened up blocking the others view of Kuma, the girl would slide and remain low.
Her thought process figured Skadi would most likely spin to keep the other in view if she could match the others speed. Thus as she slid further hopefully Skadi wasn’t as quick as her 5 stack buff which would hopefully allow her to take the woman’s back. With a clawed hand out and ready, Kuma aimed to strike a blow for the exposed calf and knee in a single swipe. An even if she did not manage to strike the other she would be able to gain distance between the two of them till the skill she used had to press for a cool down. A crowd had gathered round but not close enough for Kuma to use without some disadvantage.

She was fast.
Skadi tried to turn when the woman went to flank her, turning the bladed shield outward and turning to her right as the woman moved towards her left, hoping to catch her on the shield. Claws sank into her heel, and she hissed. It hurt, but no damage was done. Brushing it off, she swept the enforcer through the air, uncertain if she'd even hit the other woman. The fight had only just started, and it was already a much better change of pace than her day had looked like before this. The Vanadis felt pain when she shifted her weight, but she had a workaround for that.
Stepping forward, Skadi broke into a frost stride, rushing towards Kuma and leaving a trail of ice in her wake. Against an enemy, icicles would have broke up out of the ground and into the point of contact. Since they weren't actually in an official duel, any contact would simply have a knockback effect on either Kuma or anyone else the woman bashed into. She didn't particularly care; this was fun.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 266 NOTES 5/10 | The buff regained itself with ease as Kuma rolling onto her hands and feet mid slid she just caught sight of Skadi’s quick advance. There wasn’t much time or space to move in this state. Taking the hit to the side Kuma instantly returned to normal in speed. Taking the knock back she landed hard against a few other unlucky NPC’s. Upon contact she jammed both hands back one at a time to regain some of her advance back. Without it she would be a rag doll in the face of an enemy.
Pressing off of the bodies Kuma grinned wolfishly as she advanced into the open. In the process she zig zagged through the bodies jabbing and slashing at the NPC’s. Was it fair? No one cared at this point the NPC’s were cannon fodder for the two of them. Grabbing up a lone sword from the ground, unlike smaller weapons this was the only thing she knew how to use. It was sad but it also fit the personality of her class. “Fancy fancy..” Was all that Kuma said her right hand grabbed a recruit by the collar. Sprinting forward the man was like a rag doll in her grasp. Spinning she hurled him after dropping her weight beneath his body to fling him at Skadi. Another body to come!!
Stepping up close in the NPC’s shadow Kuma advanced on Skadi waiting for an opening to happen. No doubt the woman had turned by now to face Kuma. It would be foolish to offer the back to any being or creature for that matter.

Skadi had to admit, there was something satisfying in the knock back effect even if it wasn't her enemy getting speared with a handful of icicles. Even as the other player lost her footing, however, the Vanadis was preparing for the counterattack. A laugh shouldn't have erupted out of her throat when Kuma advanced only to grab another npc and hurl it at her, and yet, she did anyway. They weren't actual people; she didn't care if the nonliving persons perished in their conflict - if it could even be called that.
A spar, it turned out, was just what she had needed.
Skadi raised her shield, using it to take the brunt of the thrown man's weight and simply duck under it. She did not care as the blade sliced into him before she simply tipped it upwards, effectively discarding him. Skadi already expected Kuma to take advantage of this to get in close, and she swung her shield arm as if it was a sword on its own. It was predictable, even in her own eyes. However, she was curious; part of her wanted to learn what the woman had planned to do even as she turned to face her.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 212 NOTES Lets put a smile on the face shall we?! 6/10 | This was just want Kuma wanted the woman to bring herself face to face with her. There was a small pang of humor in her chest as the man was cut through and set flying off of the blade. This woman was a one of a kind fighter with weapons she had never seen before. Probably something personally crafted now that she got a closer look at it. Kuma advanced without fear as he body glide to the left of the blade as it came back down. Being within the blades range, Skadi could slash inward that’d be fine.. Yet Kuma’s clawed hand was set in place sliding against the metal while her left hand jutted forward.
A large clawed left hand flew towards Skadi’s chest, meanwhile the right hand pushed against the shield to keep the woman’s guard open. Her body glided through the air leaving her with no contact with the ground enabling her to soar with game physics. Even if her clawed hand was grabbed or blocked she did not see any way for Skadi to avoid a collision with her own body. Was it careless? In the eyes of some it was, for other it was just a way of life. Close combat and all of its thrills.

Ignoring the demonstration Skadi had just performed with the NPC that had gotten close, the woman had rushed right towards her. Skadi's eyes widened, as did her smile. The collision knocked her straight off of her feet, and whlie she drew up her shield, she wasn't sure it would be enough to persuade the other fighter to build some distance between the two of them. The very first thought to cross her mind as she hit the ground was simple: Anya would like this one.
Even if that turned out to be wrong, Skadi liked this player.
With her free hand, she reached up to grab for the woman if she came close, every intention of grabbing her by the throat if she came after her own face or throat. The Vanadis let out a breathy laugh, not at all threatened even as pain laced through her senses, curious if the close combat was where the other class truly thrived. Once again, Skadi considered the possibility of Anya actually getting along with the woman, at least as far as combat was concerned.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 284 NOTES 7/10 Technicians! | Her lone eye glinted with interest as her stack remained maxed out while her body zig zagged. Kuma wasn’t blind to the outstretched hand and the shielded blade. Her brows furrow as she kept their distance close, operating inside of her comfort zone. When the limb went out stretched Kuma wasted no time on her next assault attempt.
Grabbing the wrist with her own left hand she jumped up and pulled the hand close to her chest. Using her momentum she pulled Skadi’s left hand past herself rounding upon her back. Kuma wasted no time in quickly reversing her direction with a flying side mount aiming to do either one or both things at once.
The first was the strike at her skull after grabbing her left wrist with her right hand in order to keep the shield on the outside. Jumping up sideways to hasten her claim upon her opponents exposed back side. The first leg would be the weighted drop near the nape of the neck while the other was used as a weight to keep the forward momentum. Now if she managed to complete it then there would be no doubt skadi would find herself rolling forward with a set of feet latched around her upper body. One leg over the neck the other on the underside of her arm. Kum’s feet would be locked in an X to prevent any serious movement from her shield arm.
If her strike and rolling attempt did not work and her weight wasn’t enough then, she would surely settle for firmly landing in front of skadi once more this time with the arm and wrist twisted in hopes of bringing her down into submission.

Skadi had expected retaliation now that they were within the proximity she suspected the attacker's class needed. What surprised her - almost pleasantly, in an odd way - was for that retaliation to use her own offensive against her. What came next happened quickly, as all close combat fighting does. The girl moved fast, skilled in her movement in a way that might reference experience outside of the game. There was a strike to her face she wasn't able to mitigate, and when the woman pulled her into a lock using the entirety of her body, her shield arm was locked in.
Skadi grinned.
Her opponent was smart, then. Pain arced in the arm that had been pulled offensively, but she used it to fuel her, appreciating the even footing they were on. In an actual duel, her level might have made things less fair. This way, it was anything goes, for as long as they felt like.
Skadi grit her teeth in pain from the arm held so tightly, her stance wavering as she staggered back, her head tilting back from the pain. Heart beating in her chest, she knew she was falling and did her best to push her weight in the direction that Kuma was hanging off of her, hoping to pin her on the floor or at least convince her to make the mistake of loosening her grip on either arm. Either way, she was quickly learning in just what way it was a mistake to let the other player get close. Information was powerful, and given the circumstances, these weren't the kind she was likely to either forget or regret learning.

W O L F can you hear the wind? let us feast on the enemy WORDS 237 NOTES 8/10 | There was no rest to be found with Skadi’s trapped arm. Even as she went to ground Kuma’s hold remained steadfast till their bodies hit the ground solidly. Making sure to keep her chin tucked she allowed the ridges of her shoulders to strike the ground first not the back of her skull. When Skadi finally hit the ground the real pressure started as her hips popped up putting extra pressure on the shoulder socket and elbow joint.
Kuma was not looking for a simple tap out. She wanted to break Skadi into small pieces and dismantle her entire being. The excitement was something to behold as her body constricted like a snake. Mercy is what some would have given had they seen the condition of this fight. Kuma had no mercy to give, her fangs were exposed to the woman who sought to bring her so much of a work out.
“Yield this fight is won.” She barked the order at Skadi as her grip remained resilient upon the earth. There wasn’t much to do, even if the woman had started to utter the words for her icicles she would find her arm dislocated or her elbow snapped or maybe even both. Kuma was offering mercy by not breaking it to boot. Increasing the pressure at both joints Kuma’s heels and calf dug into Skadi’s neck and opposite side. “Yield and I won’t destroy your arm..”
