 if hex had to pick a favorite place in gargantua, she'd have to say it was faywood. from the gorgeous trees towering above, to the beautiful waters that ran through, everything here was just so magical. if she were to not make it out from this game alive, this is where she'd want to die. the young woman wouldn't mind taking her last breathe surrounded by trees and flowers, leaving her pixels to flow down one of the many streams. it would be perfect, actually. but death wasn't on her agenda for today. a clique of nasty mushrooms threatened the sacred grove. they were pests that were trying to infect their hideousness onto everything around them; it was something that the foxfire couldn't stand for. mushrooms had their uses, but when the things came to life? that was when the mage put her foot down. no mushroom with a face was gonna ruin the beauty that existed here. pushing back the curtain of moss that hid the grove from the rest of the forest, hex wandered in without waiting for the two woman she had partnered up with for this quest.

The compensation, or what they liked to call, the 'payout' was never enough to make up for her efforts and lost time. The meager earnings demoralized her rather quickly, but she decided that one last quest wouldn't hurt too much. At least the payment this time was acceptable for the designated task. Ninety coin for slaying mushroom monsters in her path?
Yeah, why not.
She was going to pass through the Sacred Grove anyways to make her way to the next town. Another bounty had shown up and she wasn't going to miss it. Well, she could only hope that it was still available. Bounty hunting had strangely grown popular over the last week since the sandworm was destroyed. News spread about the hundred coin reward like a wildfire after all was said and done. Now, that was something she could get behind. One hundred coin to kill a fucking worm.
Anya stopped in her tracks when she entered the Sacred Grove with it's abundance in plant life. If the mushrooms weren't going to be the problem, she was sure the coils of vines and tufts of grass would be. Honestly, some quests were just so random with what they needed.
The Slayer sighed as she pressed forward, deeper into the map in search of her party mate. She didn't need one for the infestation. She just wanted one to speed up the extermination of the filthy fungi race. The scenary that was once untainted and pure had twisted and deteriorated around her as she continued. It didn't take long for her to spot the fox girl and one of the pesky creatures wobbling by her feet.
This particular mushroom monster was hardly three inches tall and looked cute in appearance. That never stopped her, of course. Raising her foot, Anya stomped down as hard as she could ontop of the mushroom head eliciting a high squeak from the monster. She ground it up under her foot for good measure. She could only hope that they were all tiny.

She had been hoping for a challenge, to learn something new about the kind of creature to do such a thing should she encounter it again. When she arrived at the area, there was only one word for what met her eyes. Her reaction was earned, primarily, by the small size of the creature and not the woman under whose foot it was crushed. "Disappointing."Her tone was flat as she strode forward, scanning her up and down before turning her gaze outward. "It wasn't your name on the LFG tool. I suppose that means there's at least three of us here?" That was, unless she had taken too long. It would make the quest take longer, but that wasn't usually anything she would complain about. Her real problem was that such small monsters didn't seem as though they could possibly pose a challenge to her. There was nothing to learn from something that didn't push her to be better. With luck, there would be a stronger twist to the quest. hex watched from across the grove as what she assumed was one of her party mates crushed a tiny mushroom under her foot. "brutal." she shouted to her, as another woman entered the picture. there they both were. time to clear out these mushrooms as fast as possible before they ruin anything else. despite the small size of the one that was just crushed, they didn't deserve any sympathy. it was their own faults for invading some place they didn't belong. the foxfire made her way towards the two, keeping her eyes open for any pests that might be lingering around. she came to stand in front of the other two. "the name's hex. i'm assuming you were the two to reply to my party request?" if they weren't, that was too bad. a weird chattering from the ground pulled her eyes down to the grass. another tiny mushroom. the caster removed her broom from its placed tied to her back and slammed the bristles of the broom against the creature. "gonna have to clean this out later..."

Her attention was drawn towards the ground where another runt of the mushroom litter appeared. It wasn't long until it also met the same fate as it's brother. Her teammate looked to be capable of killing mushrooms, a good sign. She wasn't in the mood to do all of the work after all.
Anya looked over her shoulder at the other woman, half-considering if she should say something. "...are you sulking?" Anya asked with a laugh. It wasn't like the Vanadis to not get riled up upon seeing a monster. Then again, the ones that they fought against in the past were much bigger. She wondered if that was the issue. "Don't tell you're disappointed that they're fucking small."
Anya sighed, turning her attention back to the party leader with one question on her mind.
"Can we go deeper?"

Hex was a simple enough name, and Skadi's gaze flicked up and down the fox girl holding a broom as her weapon. She glared down at the ground when the scraping noise shattered her attention, only to see that at least this utility wasn't entirely defenseless. Not against such small creatures as these, anyway. At the accusation that she was sulking, Skadi just frowned at Seneca. When the woman narrowed in on exactly what was bothering her, her expression didn't change. "Okay. I won't." The woman said flatly, the admission clear in her denial to expand. These were anything but worthy enemies. There was nothing to learn from things that would fall in only a few hits. The moment Seneca brought up the idea of going deeper, hope kindled in the defender's heart that stronger monsters might dwell there. Without waiting for approval from the party leader, she strode on forward, unsheathing her rapier and drawing a glacial teeth that impaled a surfacing mushroom as she passed it. with the odd interaction between the two other women, hex frowned. she wondered if they'd met before this time. they seemed like they knew each, but that was none of hex's business nor did she care about anything other than finishing this quest and getting the reward; though, there was satisfaction from this more than just the reward they would be receiving. killing mushroom would be pleasing to the foxfire. it wasn't often that she got to participate in actual battle, although she had to be honest with herself. this was far from battle. nonetheless, it would be a change of pace from her sitting on the sideline every now and again summoning her fox to heal the poor soldiers who were taking blows on the battlefield. at least now she got to smash and burn mushrooms with her broom. one of the women asked her a question, but the other didn't even wait for an answer before plunging right in. "as deep as we must go," was hex's reply to seneca before she followed skadi further into the grove. another mushroom appeared before her, her broom coming down to smack the new blob. at least the mob exploded into pixels instead of blood and guts or whatever insides mushroom creatures had.

She turned her attention over to the other girl, waving her over to follow after. "It would be bad if we lose track of our defender, no?" she asked plainly. "Don't mind that one," Anya sighed deeply, "the only thing on her mind is being the harbinger of the mushroom race's extinction." As dramatic as that sounded, she wasn't wrong. Anya watched her step, carefully making her way through the messy terrain laid with wild roots and rotted ground.
Anya looked down briefly, grimacing at the ugly sight. It was as if something acidic had been spilled into the soil. Ugh. The Slayer stopped in her tracks not caring particularly if Hex was behind her or not. The woman tilted her head, her lips slanting as her puzzled expression grew clear. The ever vigilant Vanadis had stopped dead in her tracks in a clearing. Just what was so interesting about that? Anya sighed, picking up her pace to join the defender.
She approached slowly, standing next to the woman's side to inspect her from an angle. Nothing different except for her staring issue. Anya's eye drifted over to the same direction meeting with the eyes of a mushroom. A giant mushroom. It stood at least ten feet tall in front of at least a dozen others the same size.

The larger mushroom enemies seemed almost angry, as if aware of the slaughter of their younger brethren. Skadi was not afraid of the challenge before her, prepared to fight. She stood in place, aware of the fact that it would be best to wait for her allies to catch up. When Anya came to stand beside her, she was practically brimming with her eagerness to fight. The moment Anya spoke, she flashed her a sharp grin and broke into action. The Vanadis burst forward with a frost stride, ramming into the first mushroom and inviting the rest of them to attack her before any of her other allies, grinning and swiping into several of the enemies at once with her weapon. If she could help it, she would be their focus. Of course, she already knew that it would be something she'd have to work for. Regardless of how smart the other ally would fight, Seneca was just as worthy of this challenge.
