Yes the boy was doing his best, even as she felt her stomach flip. She wanted to throw up, and the pain was unbearable, but she couldn't stop now. What she could do was rip off the tentacles she could reach, leaving the rest to the sweet boy doing his best. One, two, three, four, five. Only half gone, even as she gritted her teeth. Her ability could only function so long as she kept eating, and she didn't dare stop. What would happen if a wounded monster was no longer held back? Well she didn't want to see that happen to all of the darlings on board. Much less to herself and the boy with her. Six, seven, eight. It was so close, she could almost not taste squid anymore. Considering she was still eating, that was either a good sign, or a bad one. Her body trembled. ''Two more.'' she grit out. Two more before the creature before them was disarmed, quite literally. But these last two were going to be the hardest, not that she could know that. The woman slowly slid off the tentacle she was on, now dismembered, and landed on the ship, the tendrils from her body slowly crawling into the water. Twisted things that were made of energy and yet if one could observe them closely, worse then that. She still held squid meat in her hand, consuming, even as she concentrated on the creature to hold it still. Strangling, murdering, destroying - she was crushing it's main body, even as two large tentacles - the final two - burst from the water, and moved. Fast, and hard. She could only trust in him to protect her, even as she fought still, hoping this would be done already because hunger was now sickness and she didn't like it at all. MADE BY ★MEULK

Two more?
Index hasn't been counting much since they started shaving the numbers off, but now that he heard directly from Meatpie, happiness couldn't be expressed more than the smile currently painted on his face. Being stuck in a cruise ship while being under an attack from a giant squid made Index uneasy, especially since it came with the threat of sinking the ship along with him. The sooner they resolve the quest, the sooner he could at least live in peace once again.
The two mentioned ones soon came straight from the waters to Meatpie. Backing up until he got too close to the attacker, Index set up his cover skill once again and projected a shield, blocking the sudden attacks directed towards the syntexis. The impact pushed him backwards, cancelling the skill once the momentum was broken before pinning one of them to the ground with his sword with one swift strike.
"Last one's on you," he called. His foot went to add his weight to stop its movements as he pulled his sword and used it to cut through one of the tentacles. He wasn't as efficient as Meatpie when it came to killing them, but at least he didn't have to think about it anymore once they finished.

It bubbled within her. Consume, consume, consume, destroy. Her class was one that would be difficult for most. The self-control needed to stop the hammering noise in her head of her class' baser impulses was immense. She had practice, what with all the children and her own tendencies. And yet, it was still overwhelming, overpowering if she did not pay attention. Right now, she was trying to keep the entire thing under control, but yet she could not. The tendrils were melting, destroying, devouring the creature before her on their own. And it was only the boy's ability that saved her from the attack - and more so, brought her out of the pit that her mind was slowly descending into. Taking a shuddering breath, she returned to herself. Dropping the meat in her hands onto the ship - with a wet splat - she simply shoved her hand down in a violent motion. The tendrils constricted, and then the water around the cruise ship was black. The last tentacle, rearing up to attack, went limp, dropping to the side of the ship and then sinking. Into the depths from whence it came was rather fitting end for the creature of the sea. Another shuddering breath, even as the tendrils squirmed wildly around her. It was taking all of her concentration to hold them from attacking anything else, and slowly, they were dissolving into pixels. Inch by inch they faded, finally freeing her from the grasp of insanity. She tumbled, getting to the edge of the ship, and retched all she had eaten. After a few moments, the woman dropped to her knees, panting. If it wasn't clear by now, it would be quite obvious that the ability she used took a large toll on her. She couldn't even rise, her legs completely jelly. But her gaze turned to the boy, her tired eyes making sure he was alright. Perhaps a few scratches, but nothing terribly wrong. ''Ah... let's hope that it's over... thank goodness you're safe.'' she said. Her voice was faint, even as her body shuddered once more, an ill feeling still within her. She really hoped it was over, because she couldn't do something like that again. MADE BY ★MEULK

Index would have jumped out of joy when he saw the last of the monster's activities die down along with its health if only he had been that type of character. Still, one could clearly read the relief on his face when the last of the tentacles had finished its attacks on them. He followed Meatpie to the ship's edge, comforting her as she threw up by running his hand on her back repeatedly. If it had been him eating away tentacles from the giant squid, he knew he wouldn't be able to hold it in until after everything was done.
"Y-you too. You're also fine, right?" The sound she made earlier told him no, though. He doubted his heals would have done anything to soothe her, since it technically just restores health in a game sense. Regardless, he still threw them out at her. Even if it doesn't help her situation, at least it topped her off from the creature's attacks. "And thanks for that, m-ma'am." And by 'that', he meant for carrying him throughout the quest.
Taking a glance on the ship's course, the shore now felt like closer than before. Index estimated their time of arrival to be in about a few minutes, leaving him with a sigh. The violent crashes they got from the sea now mellowed down and the NPCs manning the ship seemed to be picking themselves up after the attack. Everything was turning to a better situation for them, and he doubted anything else bad would start happening now. "Well, we're about to reach the island soon, so..." At least the whole ordeal was done for now.

He was such a sweet boy. Even if he had no obligations, he tried his best to take care of her. It warmed her heart that a child could be so kind even in this world. He even tried to heal her, although what was making her ill wasn't quite a game mechanic to say the least. But he tried, and she let herself bask in the softness of his heals, before smiling gently at him. ''Just call me Meatpie sweetie, none of that ma'am. I'm not that old.'' she said, laughing slightly. But after a time, she was finally able to get to her feet, and proceeded to stretch. A lot of her muscles were sore, and her body felt cramped. Stretching was the logical solution. Quite a few NPCs stopped and stared but she didn't notice. ''It's just my class takes a certain toll on me that's all. Everything will be alright and we did make it to the island! Are you excited? I bet you have so many plans to explore!'' she said, making light conversation. The day was opening before her, because her goal was completed. The boy was probably going to leave right quick, but that was alright, she was pretty tired herself. Although, the woman couldn't help herself, and one last time, she reached out to him, pulling him into a tight hug. ''If you must thank me, well thank you for helping me.'' she whispered into his ear. Letting him go with another laugh, the purple haired mother just smiled brightly. She felt hope for the future, just maybe. MADE BY ★MEULK
