The ship started to get loud as soon as it was filled. Excitement due to the free ride had riled up enough people to board the ship, especially since the destination of their course would be the mystery island. Index had been one of the players foolish enough to accept the quest without scanning much of the description. The prize for completion felt unnecessary considering they don't even have to pay anything, but he'd take it nonetheless. If the game installed quests such as playing poker, surely a vacation trip wouldn't be so far from the possibilities.
His arms rested along the railings that bordered the ship's deck, with his head laid on top of them. He had his sights on the waters below, finding nothing but the waves made by the ship's movements. It had been a while since they got off land and the list of interesting things to do on the ship had already been exhausted. It was only then that he started reading the rest of the details for the quest that he carelessly accepted.
It took a few times of reading back and forth to see if he read it right, and upon confirmation, he stood up from his slouched position with a jolt. The outline of the island was already visible from their position. It would only be a while before they finally reach land, but anxiety got to Index. His head turned to look for other players who were in the same situation as him. Someone with damage maybe, or anyone at all. It won't take long before monsters started to appear from the sea.

[googlefont="Oxygen|Yellowtail"] what do you taste like A pretty tropical island! That sounded like a wonderful vacation! And so, she had managed to get on the ship for it. Perhaps it was just right time and place, and honestly she hadn't really noticed the quest because she had lost a button on her outfit and had to find it. So by the time she could have noticed the notification, it was gone. The purple haired woman let out a soft hum, tapping her foot here and there as she explored the ship. After all, if she knew the lay of the ship, she could find the most funniest of places to go to right? She made it to topside, breathing in the sunshine and fresh sea air. ''Oh! What a cutie!'' she said, spotting someone. With a smile, she walked forward, and perhaps without warning, went to scoop up the poor unfortunate soul in a bone crushing bear hug. ''Ah, dearie are you lost? You look like a lost puppy! Are you afraid or something? Just let me know, I'll help you!'' she exclaimed. A great big smile on her face, and a warm friendly disposition was all that she could radiate. After all, it was part of her nature - and she wouldn't give it up for anything else! ''Now come, tell Momma Meatpie what's wrong!'' she said, her voice gentle and warm. indexhi hello wandering in yes? a bit short but let me know if you'd like it a bit longer in the future!

His eyes had been searching somewhere else that he had not noticed someone approach until she was directly at his face. He turned to face her with a jolt, smiling nervously as he watched her arms wrap around him and squeezing the air out of him. Out of instinct, he quickly gave a few pats on her arms to tap out from the situation. He wasn't made for these types of physical forms of affection, and even if he was, the woman was still a stranger no matter how he looked at it. If anything, the name Momma Meatpie made it more awkward.
Index spoke in between trying to get breaths in. "Not lost. Just afraid, maybe, yes. Don't know." His words did not come in full sentences, with his attention directed to at least getting her to loosen her hug. Eventually, he gives up and just stood there, accepting that he was at the mercy of Meatpie. "Well, you see, I just realized the quest's kinda... The paladin was interrupted by the excessive rocking of the ship. People started panicking and waves started picking up. "...yeah, I haven't read the quest description before boarding." Mobs would probably start spawning soon.

[googlefont="Oxygen|Yellowtail"] what do you taste like 'Awwww he's so cute all awkward like that!' she thought. After all, the boy in her arms seemed to not be the touchy-feely type. Which is fine, really, but she can't help herself after all. After a bit, she finally lets go, beaming at him with a wide smile. She leaves her hands on his shoulders for a few moments, even as she makes sure to remember what he said. And then the boat proceeded to rock, and her head immediately swerved to port and then starboard. And she tilts her head, finally her hands falling away from him completely, as her smile doesn't seem to dim one iota. ''I see... there are naughty little ankle biters in the waves aren't there?'' she said. There was something about her tone - warm and yet something darker - that would make most uncomfortable at the least. ''Well, well, they have to be told they're not welcome hm? Let's see....'' she muttered to herself now, sticking out her hand. And from her non-existent sleeve, something slid into view. That something wasn't there two seconds ago, so it makes sense that it was summoned by her. That something, was a regularly sized butter knife. ''Momma is an attacker dearie - so let me know what your role is mmkay? That way we'll take care of those nasty little buggers.'' she said, still smiling. Perhaps she was looking forward to destroying them, or perhaps she was just that happy to help someone. Whatever it was, warmth like that was unnatural and she had no idea, even as her eyes stared at the waves, willing for the monsters to show. She was hungry, after all. index2/10 I'm sorry she's awkward >.>;

His hand laid on his chest as soon as he regained his personal space, taking deep breaths while fixing his composure. He drew his weapon out the next moment, seeing Meatpie do it herself, and distanced himself away from the railings. "Y-Yes, ma'am," he confirmed. The weapon she brought out was unusual, even by the game's standards. He decided not to focus much on it and instead put his attention on the problem at hand. Whatever was causing the vibrations on the ship would come on board soon, or at least, that's how the scripts in most games that he played went.
Although he could take the damage well in case an attack came directly from below, the paladin decided not to risk getting dragged into the water. He eased up when he was prompted by Meatpie, though relief was already on his face when she mentioned being an attacker. "Defender. I can't kill stuff on my own so please take care of me." He paused, as if forgetting something, before turning back to his companion. "And I can heal stuff too, I guess." Not that mentioning it matters when it takes him two or three of his to match a utility player's heals.
The excessive rocking of the ship soon stopped, though the peace it brought had been too eerie for Index to relax. "False alarm, or...?" The quest description did mention an attack, and it was bound to happen sooner than later.

[googlefont="Oxygen|Yellowtail"] what do you taste like Ah, she just wanted to squeeze him again! ''Such a good boy.'' she muttered out loud. She wasn't even aware she did so, but perhaps he hadn't heard it in any case. Her own steps went closer to the railings, peering down at the depths below even as she listened to him. Her eyes roamed the waves, even as they calmed, the sea smoothing out. Peace, it was oh so fragile, and her head turned towards him. ''I see... good good! Any heal is better then anything right? At least, if your heals aren't utility sized... I think that's how he explained it to me? Ah, I don't know.'' she said, laughing a little bit, even as her attention turned back to the sea. ''I don't play these games often you see. But I know for sure that they're still here. They're coming.'' she said. Her hunger was her warning sign, even as slowly, a different kind of smile crept on her face. Born from her class, there was something that twisted her possessiveness and made it horrifying. With an almost careless motion, she tossed the knife into the waves. Hoping to have hit something, if only to accelerate the combat schedule. Because the faster they dispatched them, the earlier they get to relax on the vacation. And the earlier she would finally soothe the hungry beast that was clawing inside of her, demanding blood and death. Demanding that she devour and destroy, that she consume the world around her indiscriminately. 'Soon,' she thought 'soon.'index3/10 time for battle next round?

It took only moments after the knife was thrown into the ocean before the attack happened. Index had expected a siege involving some kind of zerg rush from the trash mobs. While getting swarmed by smaller monsters might be a hassle, facing an iconic monster from many games that involved levels in a shipwreck was the last thing he had in mind. "I, uh, guess I should've expected this." He was ill-equipped for the situation as is. Given how the quest started, he guessed he'd definitely rely on Meatpie to carry him through for this trip.
Tentacles emerged from the waves beside the ship that threatened to snap the hull into two. The head of the Kraken showed itself on the far side of the waters, to which the paladin had no way to reach. The other NPCs aboard the ship seemed to have noticed them as well, with each of them bringing their own weapon on deck to fight alongside them. Given they weren't players though, Index already assumed that they wouldn't be much help at defeating the danger at hand.
The only option that presented itself to Index at that time was the classic strategy against the numerous appearances of Krakens on most RPGs - kill each tentacle off. The tentacle nearest to them decided to slam itself at them, though a timely use of cover stopped it from its tracks. "Think we can handle this?" he asked Meatpie, still struggling beneath the weight of the tentacle. If he had been alone, he would already say he can't.

[googlefont="Oxygen|Yellowtail"] what do you taste like 'There we go, it's finally time.' she thought. The churning waves started to part, and something comes forth. Not that Meatpie has an idea that this sort of monster is typical in a fantasy-land with oceans, but her eyes seem to sparkle. Everything else seemed to fade away, apart from two things. Her, the boy and this monster. His question floats in her head, even as he intercepts an attack. ''Oh, I think we definitely can! After all, squid is sooo good with tempura, and I definitely never miss a meal!'' she said, a grin blooming on her face. Yes, this was perfect for what was stirring within her - something that was pulsing and pushing. Another knife appears in her hands. However, this time it's much, much bigger. About the size of a broadsword - ie two handed bigass knife - the purple haired woman laughs in joy. It was easy to move the knife, and stab into the tentacle that was holding down her lovely boy. And then, she cut through it like butter. With a giant two handed butter knife. The jokes would write themselves in the mind of anyone, but Meatpie was humming, even as she seemed to be enjoying this. In fact, there seemed to be the smell of cooking squid in the air, as sizzling could be heard if one concentrated. Her MELTDOWN was going to make this very fun, she thinks. ''So what's the strategy? I've never fought one of these before!'' she asks. index4/10 using the aforementioned meltdown, and hack and slashes at the tentacle index is holding up with a giant butterknife. poor index is gonna have to guide this woman V.V;

He was too focused on stopping the tentacle from reaching him that he had not noticed the woman take out something larger than the butter knife she threw in the ocean. He heard her muse about food though, something which reminded Index that he has yet to explore the rest of the cruise ship. He decided to visit the dining hall after the whole fiasco was done, provided that the attack hasn't damaged anything on the buffet tables. His mind had been picturing food, only to wake up when the weight pushing his shield was gone.
Deactivating his cover skill, Index offered small claps to Meatpie after she sliced through the tentacle without much effort. He stopped when she asked him a question, prompting the paladin to scratch his head as the obvious solutions came to his head. "Well, the other games I've played before has the Krakken's weakness set to fire or thunder magic. I, uh, don't have those unfortunately." His arms folded as he started to dig deep on his library of gaming experience for other solutions. "The main body also shares the same health bar as its tentacles sometimes, so defeating all the tentacles defeats the main guy. SOMETIMES that is."
Index stopped when he saw another tentacle of the giant squid slam against the main deck. "Er, at any case, we should deal with the tentacles for now. I think just keeping the ship intact until we reach the destination is enough." The quest description didn't specify that they have to defeat the enemies to get rewards after all. Index started to rush towards where he saw the attack, but not before casting Refresh on Meatpie for a speed boost. Having the one with the damage reach the destination first was much better than him standing there with nothing to do.

She was going to definitely have to eat after this. Seafood was a weakness. The mother tilted her head, watching the several appendages waving around. She was listening to the poor dear that was fighting with her, as it seemed he was far more used to this kind of thing then she. After all, she was a mother, video games weren't something she had a lot of time for with her brood. ''I see... too bad I could have eaten it to great effect.'' she muses aloud, when he mentions typical weaknesses of the monster. More so, she muttered it, but it didn't really matter as another one of the things slammed a bit away, shaking the boat with the force of it, but breaking nothing. That was lucky, and her head turned towards the next goal in mind. The next enemy to destroy. ''Of course, let's make sure we all make it through.'' she said. Her voice was cheerful, and she began to move towards the offending tentacle. However, something seemed to tingle within her, almost tickling. A gentle smile crossed her face, as she realized it was the dear with her that did that. And that small tingle provided her with something that made her happy. That was a speed buff - letting her zip towards the target much faster then normal. The rush was so much fun, even as her goal was not forgotten. The comedic oversized knife in her hand was twirled expertly, her eyes flashing with intent. Lacerating into the tentacle, she quickly pushed forward with her MELTDOWN ability, aiming to harm the creature some more. However, this time there was more then a token piece of resistance. The creature had become more aware of her little game, and was twisting it's limb in order to avoid her strikes - or make them less deep then they appeared. Frustrating, but she had confidence in her current partner to keep everyone alive, and herself safe. ''If you spot any opportunities dear, feel free to tell me!'' she yelled, even as she was pushing herself into the air to slash at the kraken's tentacle. Her fighting was almost single-mindlessly focused on one target, hence her words to the defender. MADE BY ★MEULK

Although he already seen her use the giant table knife as a weapon, the novelty of it still has not worn off for Index upon seeing it the second time. No comments were made regardless, though his intense staring from being amused was obvious from a spectator's point of view. He gave small claps as she attempted to cut through another tentacle, before another bout of the ship rocking challenged his footing.
"Oh! Right... I'll do what I can..." he said as he caught up to the older woman. "J-Just don't rely on me too much, okay." He did not doubt his ability to judge opportunities for Meatpie, though he did wonder if he could even spot them in the middle of the chaos. It wasn't only them that were trapped in the sea, but also NPCs that decided they'd be safe if they had players come along the trip with them.
Another tentacle sprouted from the sea and tried to whip the Syntexis off of its other appendage. Being nearby, Index blocked off the attack with another use of his Cover skill. "...or I guess we can make it so that the Kracken targets you instead of the ship. Makes the job easier in my opinion." All he had to do was protect Meatpie instead of trying to use his flimsy short sword against a sea monster. Despite its size, the giant squid was still a monster bound by common RPG monster AI after all.

So hungry, so very very hungry. ''That's a perfect idea dear!'' she said. She had heard him - had seen him block the attacks to her person - and it was perfect. He was so cute she just wanted to scoop him up in another hug even with that. So hesitant, but his role was one that required a strong, brave will. It was such an interesting play, and it made her happy to see him working past his shyness to do what he needed to. It was beautiful, and as a mother, she could fully appreciate it. After all, nurturing and watching others pass challenges is the very privilege of someone being a mother, isn't it? But she had to concentrate on the beast before her. If she didn't, it would become bad, after all. Not only would it destroy the ship, but her hunger would also get out of control. She let out a breath, even as a tentacle tried to wrap around, to yank her off itself. Another stab made it recoil, even as her eyes narrowed. She flicked one of her hands, butter knives flying out of her grasp, sailing straight to the beast's face - close but still beneath the waves. The acid on the blades should help, even as she twisted the blade, pulling it out. She breathed, and then her eyes flashed. She had a plan, and a smile was forming on her lips. She would finally assuage her hunger. ''Dearie, be careful, this might get a little... bumpy.'' she said, her tone calm but excited at the same time. And then she ducked, stabbing her knife into the tentacle she had climbed on, dodging another, and then she sank her teeth into the figure. She would DEVOUR it. MADE BY ★MEULK

His eyes brightened up with her confirmation, though he tried not to look so proud for something that he wasn't even a hundred percent sure that would work. Instead he gave a meek smile with an affirmative nod. He had not tried letting others be the decoy instead of him, someone from a defender class. It worked most of the times in some games he had played before though, but then again, it was only going to be up to him to delay the attacks from her until she could deal out the damage instead of a whole crew. Considering this was also BWO, it also meant he they couldn't fail.
All of the damage over time she applied on multiple tentacles certainly sped up the process of her gaining aggro, though it also got Index's concern. Noticing that she seemed to be doing fine on her own, the paladin pushed back the tentacle that his barrier was blocking and cut through with his sword. The next thing that happened was getting a warning from Meatpie "B-bumpy? Wait, what are you-" His words were interrupted with the sight he saw as he turned around. The image of a middle-aged woman getting her mouth involved with a tentacle was deeply engraved on his mind now. This wasn't Japan, right?
As she bit through it, it seemed that the Krakken had taken offense from being a prey instead of a predator and caused more activity. More waves came crashing to the cruise ship and its remaining tentacles all aimed towards the syntexis. "H-H-Hey!" Index was intimidated, though he had a panic button for cases like this. Backing towards the Meatpie's location, he would raise his hand where his sanctify skill seemed to manifest. Within the same moment, light came crashing from the sky and into their location, stunning the tentacles before they closed in. "Err... that stun doesn't last too long by the way."

If the woman had watched one iota of hentai, she would have realized the picture she made. Unfortunately, she hadn't, and so had no idea of how anyone would take this scene currently. If anything, her mind seemed to be filled with something akin to food bliss, mainly because her craving for calamari was suddenly on her tongue and filled. Even as she swallowed, blood, ink and flesh, it didn't matter. It was good, and let's just say she was not picky about her food with her class. She could lose herself so easily, even as the world around her faded in her single minded determination. She would eat this creature, and even as she continued, light seemed to dance along her eyes. Her head lifted, the words of the boy slipping into her ears. She smiled, and tilted her head to the side. ''Then I'll take advantage of it!'' she said. Her tone was cheerful - even though what she was just doing would be considered disgusting - and it seemed like nothing could bring her down. But perhaps the first sign of something wrong, was the NPCs suddenly backing away from the fight, more so then they had been before hand. The second sign, was something dripping from her body. Black and with rays of blue, something seemed to quiver along her back, even as she lowered her head, hiding her face. The fact that she was breathing hard was the third indication, if one could even see that. And then something broke. From her back, a myriad of shapes seemed to burst, eerily looking like the tentacles of the kraken before her. These shapes seemed to extent from her, wrapping around the kraken's own limbs, even as she curled her free hand hard into the flesh beneath her. Few would understand this function of the class. The ability to manipulate whatever they have eaten within their own twisted imagination. If she ate lightning? She could spit it back out, make herself armor out of it, or even weapons of lightning. Sure, the damage wasn't even mitigated, so it made things painful, but it was still powerful. And the woman had just sunk her teeth into a powerful water based creature. The limbs wrapped around each other pulled, and with a squelsh noise, ripped off appendages from the Kraken. ''You... might want to hurry.'' she breathed out, her words almost hard to hear over the creature's screams of pain, and the noise of ripping elastic flesh. Let's just say stretching something elastic until it ripped was horrible to say the least. And still, she shoved more of the meat in her mouth, forcing herself to sustain this eldritch destructive ability. But she wasn't able to move, and she could only counter the limbs, it would be up to the boy to get things going for a decisive blow. ''You can do it.'' she said, her belief not a lie even though they have just met. It was a mother's faith, as everyone was her children in her mind. And so, it was unshakable, even as she held her ground, her fate in his hands. He would have to do something soon, as the creature was going to get smart soon, even as the stun would wear off, as the boy said. MADE BY ★MEULK

The only thing that Index could do at that given moment was watch Meatpie gain a few tentacles on her back. He would believe he was in some kind of sci-fi movie when her new appendages sprouted since they were already in a fantasy world setting. Index only snapped back to reality when Meatpie spoke to him, to which he repeated. "Hurry?"
A quick look around was all he needed for the reminder. "I don't think I can handle all of it, but I'll do my best ma'am!" Looking at the rest of his skills, almost everything wasn't usable in the current scenario. All he has are defensive and healing spells after all, with his weapon as the only source of real damage he has on hand.
With Meatpie taking the attention of the giant squid off from the ship, Index was now confident that they'll be able to make it out of the trip alive. The reversal of roles was awkward for the paladin, but he wasn't even sure if Meatpie needed more help if she was just eating each tentacle. At the very least, he could cut off each tentacle from the main body. "One down!" he yelled as his sword sliced through the nearest one. How many more?
