[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]So far Aleister had spent almost half his day making sure that his little surprise went just perfectly. After the little raid in the town of Origins Aleister was a bit worried about a certain friend of his dying or getting severely hurt in her day to day life. So with the ever present concept of life and death that the game imposed on them stuck in his mind Aleister took his time to set up a little date for him and Chirp. It all started with him renting a little place on the Sanctum Shores, a nice little spot on the beach that the two of them could enjoy together. The only other pieces to the puzzle were a blanket, a picnic basket and plenty of food for them.
Once all of that was gathered up and set out on the beach Aleister would sit on the blanket with his back to the ocean. So that he could easily see the girl coming whenever she got here. After a few moments of waiting on her to show up Aleister would come to realize that he didn't even tell her about it yet. Laughing at his own thoughtlessness the man would open up his menu and start fiddling around with it till he got to the private messaging section. The message he sent would read "Hey, meet me at Sanctum Shores alright?"
Smiling ever so slightly to himself as the message was sent Aleister would dig around in his inventory for something else. Pulling out a little candle that he plopped down into the sand to give some light for when the sun went down. It was about half way down now, just starting to set.

It was so weird the day after the dragon attack, with everyone continuing back to whatever plans they'd had before. It was as if nothing had happened, although she could suppose there wasn't much to dwell on. There was a strange worry to her that was still clinging, but she was sure if she got back into the swing of things along with everyone else, she'd be good as new in no time. Just, well, a bit more aware of her surroundings. Considering everything, that was probably a good thing.
When Chirp had received the message from Aleister, she'd snapped right out of her thoughts and come running, assuming there'd have been some kind of sea monster or gigantic crab until about halfway when she realized that he probably would have told her up front. But by that point, she'd already replied to tell him she was on her way, so it'd be strange to ask for any kind of clarification now.
When she arrived, she didn't see Aleister at first, having to shield her eyes against the sun to see what could be him off in the distance. Huh, he was so far away. Glancing around to make sure she didn't really see anyone - or anything - else, she shrugged it off and walked towards him, her steps uneven in the sand. The moment she caught sight of the picnic layout, her eyes lit up. "What?" She asked, a laugh eating her words. Something so sweet had been the last thing she'd expected.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]You would think that a sweet gesture being met with laughter by the person it was for would warrant either a confused reaction from the person who orchestrated the gesture. Or for them to just become plain old disheartened if not angry with the person who laughed. Aleister on the other hand, Aleister just started laughing along with the blonde as he climbed up to his feet before making his way over to where she stopped. Chuckling as he got over to her the man would raise up one of his eyebrows as he spoke.
"Didn't expect something like that huh? Every girl, especially one as good looking as you, deserves something all nice and sweet now and then. Cmon I got us some food over there and a blanket so we dont get sand stuck to our clothes...if thats even a thing that can happen in here." Who knew how that stuff worked in a game. "Oh well it still looks nice."Aleister said while flashing Chirp a genuine smile, following that up by taking the girls hand to lead her over to where he had the picnic stuff set up.
Arriving over at the blanket Aleister would sit down on one side of the picnic basket after letting go of her hand. This time he'd sit to face the water of course, how else can you watch the sun set over the ocean if you aren't looking out at it. "So what'd ya say? Wanna officially make this a real date, not like an event like that soul mate ball thing. Pluuuus I think you still owe me an explanation for where you got your name from."

"I don't believe it," She said, "This is so nice of you." It was incredible, and no one had ever really done this kind of thing for her back home. Obviously, it must have been the work uniform and lack of sleep bringing her down. It was just a shame she hadn't dressed for the occasion, although being her own armorsmith meant her armor was cute enough for the moment. Again, she didn't trust anyone else to dye her stuff the right shade of pink.
"It looks amazing, Aleister ." She corrected, beaming at him as he took her hand and led her to the picnic. When he let go of her hand, she smoothed out her dress out of nervous habit before sitting down, looking over at the ocean and then down at the food. She didn't want to admit that she'd never seen the ocean in person before, how she had always looked forward to it, and that now she never might. It seemed too soon for that sort of thing, no matter how sweet the man was being.
"I'd love to." She laughed again when he brought the subject around to her tease. Well, she had been hoping for a second date, so maybe she shouldn't be so surprised. "Oh, that?" She asked, before shrugging. "Where I come from, when you start shit-talking - especially over a sport - we call it a chirp. That's all." Her eyes lit with a bit of mischief. "I mean, I do really like birds, but that's not where I got it from."

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]"Its the least I can do, its nothing really. Glad you like it though.." The man chuckled out as he shot Chirp a quick grin. In all honesty it was the first time he did something special like this for a girl, so he really was glad that she was enjoying it so far.
"Huh.." Aleister muttered out after Chirp finished explaining where her name originated from, reaching up to scratch at the back of his head as he said that. "I never would of guessed that honestly, never heard of that before." Turning to give her another grin though Aleister would get to work on emptying out the picnic basket. After a few moments he'd have all the food set out on top of the basket himself, sure it was a game but who wants to eat food off of the sand or a blanket? The good part about this just being a game was that food didn't actually have to be heated up, the food was ready to eat just as it was bought or prepared.
On top of the picnic basket would be a few slices of watermelon, some hot-dogs, a little bowl of potato chips for them to spit, a couple macarons for desert and a can of soda for each of them. "At least you like birds though, the nickname I thought for you still makes sense then. How bout I call you my little birdie huh? I think it sounds kinda cool." The man blabbered out as he hurried up and picked up a piece of watermelon to bite into. Trying to forget that he actually said something like that.

Chirp didn't mind that Aleister hadn't caught the reference. Sure, she'd been surprised the first couple of times it had happened since it hadn't even occurred to her that what she'd been so used to might have been regional slang, but she'd quickly gotten used to it. "You're not the first, don't worry." She said with a bright enough smile, glancing over at the waves hitting the shore a ways down at the shoreline before Aleister began to move.
She wasn't sure what she had expected, but the food looked good in that home comfort kind of way, and she relaxed - not that she'd had her guard up before. There was just something about it that softened her features, and she didn't hesitate before reaching for a chip and smiling at him. "This is really nice. Thanks so much." It was such a drastic change from yesterday.
At the sound of her potential nickname, she giggled, turning her face to the side a bit as she watched him, putting the back of her hand to her mouth as she finished chewing. "That's really cute." She finally said after she swallowed. "I mean it, it's sweet. I like it." She paused, watching him closely. "Can I ask you a question?" She finally asked, before plowing on ahead. "You don't have to answer if you don't want, but I'm wondering if there's any reason you picked the ocean?" She blinked, as if realizing that her words might offend and actually shying away from it in a clumsy way. "Not that I don't love it, just wondering if it's like- significant?" It'd be fine if it wasn't, really. The girl just realized she didn't know as much about Aleister as maybe she should, given how nice he was being to her.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]Chuckling a bit at her answer Aleister would take another quick bite out of the watermelon before blurting out, "Eh I'm ok with it being cute too, i thought it was a pretty cute nickname too. Not as cute as you are though." He thought he was pretty smooth with that last part slipped in there. Though that didn't mean that he only said that for the purpose of being smooth and trying to get a response out of her, he genuinely did think that. "So where're you from by the way? That whole chirp thing just has me wondering that now."
Once the topic of why he picked the ocean was brought up Aleister would simply shrug his shoulders as he finished off his piece of watermelon. Popping a couple chips from the bowl into his mouth and swallowing the snacks before speaking. "I don't know honestly, its just something I kind of always wanted to see. Sure its not the real ocean but its an ocean..plus it might as well be the real ocean at the moment. Might end up being the only one I do get to see."
He had no problem with answering her questions as best as he could. |

Chirp smiled at the way Aleister talked. He seemed nervous in a way, but it was cute. She was used to guys in the real world set out to put her in her place, disarmed a bit by the lack thereof. She knew how to deal with people being mean, but sweet talking and soft touch was unfamiliar territory. "Oh, uh, Illinois." She said quickly, a blush rising to her cheeks. She'd gone and promised over and over not to give out her real info, but Aleister didn't seem like a stranger and honestly, it didn't really seem to matter now. "How about you?"
His explanation on his choice of ocean made her soften a bit. "Yeah, I feel the same way." She confirmed, reaching for a slice of watermelon this time. He seemed receptive to her questions, so she thought some. "Do you have someone waiting on you back home?" It had probably been a clumsy way to put it, but she actually wasn't sure how to phrase it. It was correct to call it the real world, out there, but what happened in the game seemed real enough to her if a person could die from it.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]Reaching up to scratch at the back of his neck for just a few brief moments Aleister chuckled again before answering where he was from. "Technically I'm from the Netherlands." He chimed out in a dutch accent, only to switch back to talking normally with the next sentence. "I spent most of my life in america though..pennsylvania specifically. We traveled back and forth a bit, but yeah the majority of my life was spent in america." Though he didn't particularly care at all about giving out his information even before they were trapped in this game, he certainly didn't give a single ounce of a fuck about it now,
Picking up the sandwich on his side of the picnic basket Aleister took a bite out of the meat and cheese as he thought about how to answer her latest question. Though it was a pretty simple one to ask, he didn't even really need that much time to answer it. "No not really, just family, my parents and a little brother. I mean I have a cat too but it probably doesn't even notice that I'm gone. What about you Birdie?" As he asked that he turned his head to look over at her, kinda starting to prefer the sight of her to the beautiful ocean in front of them. |

Chirp didn't think for a moment that Aleister was lying to her. She was usually a bit more street smart, a bit harder around the edges, but this was nice. for now, for a little while, she could be soft in his palm. there wasn't any harm in needing that for herself in all of this, in him probably needing the same reprieve from the constant fighting and needing to be on guard. he talked about his family back home, his cat, and her heart ached.
"I ... had friends, I guess. not sure if they'd just thought i was fun to hang out with or would actually check up on me, though. I'd just moved out on my own, so -" she paused, unsure if it was right to dump onto Aleister about such little details that hardly seemed to matter now. it was better to be honest, she decided. "I wasn't talking to my parents, so the rest of my family wasn't talking to me. not sure if any of that's gone and changed out there or .." it was weird to admit, not knowing what his reaction would be or how he'd feel about it. in an oddly vulnerable moment, she rubbed the arm she was leaning against with her free arm, before reaching to a watermelon to distract herself. it was weird to think that maybe no one would have noticed her gone. but then, if no one had she wouldn't still be here, right? here she was, left wondering who it would be. "um," she said, trying hard to think of something to change the subject. "so no one you knew played the game with you or nothing?" she asked, not quite looking up at him just yet.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]As Chirp spoke Aleister would find himself frowning a bit while listening to what she said. He found it kind of sad that she wasn't really talking to her family at all, from his point of view his family was pretty much all he had and for someone to not talk to theirs at all was kind of a sad thought. Eventually as he sat and listened Aleister would end up wrapping and arm around her as they sat there on the beach, still nibbling away at his sandwich with his free hand.
"I'm sorry.." He mumbled out before Chirp asked if anyone played the game with him. "If we get out of here I'll come find you alright? Well I mean if thats okay with you." Reaching up to rub at the back of his head when the arm that wasn't around her after he said that Aleister would chuckle slightly, not sure if that kind of thing was even proper to say just yet. "Yeah I had a friend who wanted me to play this game with him. Honestly I never played mmo's that much or anything, just did it cause they wanted me too. But I guess someone on the outside didn't believe the whole taking their headset off will kill them thing.."
Reaching his hand over to grab his drink off of the basket Aleister would crack the can open as he took a quick sip of the orange flavored beverage. Staring out at the ocean as he drank. |

Chirp didn't like being pitied, but even as her cheeks flushed she leaned into the embrace. "i'm not made of glass or anything." She protested softly, but she rested her head against his shoulder regardless. When he offered to come and find her, she smiled and glanced up at him. "when we get out, I'd like that a lot, slugger." she said. she didn't believe for a moment that she was going to die here. For a moment, the scare from yesterday had knocked that right out of her, but she was starting to recover back to her old self.
A frown found her face when Aleister answered her question, though, and she leaned more against him and reached up to touch his chest. "I'm sorry." was there anything else she could even say? she would never have brought it up if it had occurred to her, but the fact was that it hadn't. so many had just disappeared, and she'd known there were people outside that were mourning them, but to have someone inside grieve them hadn't been something she'd run into yet.
the drink looked nice, she'd decided, so she reached out to open a can herself, propped up against him. the can opened with a sound and feeling that was strangely satisfying.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]"I know you're not, that doesn't mean its not nice to just be held sometimes.." Aleister mumbled out after Chirp's comment about not being made of glass, just kind of rubbing her arm that wasn't against him to help comfort her. Even if she personally didn't need to be comforted right now it did help Aleister to just be holding someone while he talked about the situation that got him in this game. In all honestly it was a topic that Aleister hadn't brought up to anyone else yet, it was a very sensitive subject for him and one he didn't wanna bring up to just anyone. "Well, its a deal then birdie. As soon as we get out of here I'm gonna come looking for you alright?"
Taking another sip of his drink Aleister would sit there in silence for a bit after the talk about his friend. He wasn't really sure what to say now either since it was a subject he hadn't really talked about much. Instead he just chose to sat there for a moment and enjoy his time with her. "It's okay.." He muttered out as they sat there, finishing off the rest of his drink as he looked out at the waves, the sun finally starting to set all the way.
Looking over at Chirp Aleister would raise an eyebrow a moment, before blurting out a quick. "Hey can I try something?" With that said he'd lean in and give Chirp a quick kiss on the lips, pulling away a moment later as he started to blush ever so faintly. Going to take another drink out of his can despite the fact that it was empty. |

It was true, she decided; it was nice to be held even if it wasn't something she necessarily needed. She let herself continue to lean against the man, less interested in the food than the company now. The sunset was beautiful, and even as it would be over soon. Even as the beach air started to chill, Aleister was warm. there was comfort in having a future after all of this; honestly, she hadn't been as sure before, and that had always been a much bigger worry than any monster in the game.
Chirp hadn't expected the kiss, but the question had at least given her a heads up that something was coming. Still, her eyes widened for a split second and then it was over. Chirp tilted her head to the side, a smile quirking on her lips as her ponytail slid against her shoulder. the woman weighed her options, as though there were all that many. making up her mind, she lifted a hand to push Aleister's soda can down before making her move. if left uninterrupted, chirp would lean in to try to return the kiss, closing any further distance between them. it just made sense to her to test the waters a little bit further.

[attr="class",screamlyrics"]THIS COBWEB OF SICK BLOOD [attr="class","screamlyrics1"]OUR HONOR IS THE HOLY BLOOD | [attr="class","screambod"]Testing the waters definitely paid off for Chirp, instead of protesting or anything even remotely close to that Aleister would just let the can drop to the ground as she moved it down. It was definitely an option that Aleister thought could of happen for some reason it wasn't an option that he expected, but one he had no problem with what so ever. As the can cluttered down to the sand all the blue haired man could do was return the kiss, pulling her as close to him as he could until he had to break it off to breathe. Well at least he thought he had to breathe, he honestly wasn't sure since it was a game after all.
As he sat there all Aleister could manage to blurt out was a simple, "Wow.." For once the usually laid back and cool dude was rendered completely speechless. Well not completely since he did manage to get out a single word, but still almost speechless. |
