The first floor of the dungeon was cold to say the very least. Blank wasn't quite sure what he was expecting upon stepping foot inside of the dungeon. But it seemed far more different than the world outside and a lot dangerous. He'd sent out a request for a few other people to join him on the excursion but wasn't quite sure if many would. He realized how quickly he was going, how much he wanted to know and how fast he was transversing from one corner of the universe to the next it seemed.
But there were so many things to see and explore and he just wanted to know. Knowledge never seemed so freeing but now that he stood in the belly of the beast and stared it in the eye, he could only wonder what would happen now that he was here.
He hummed and took a seat at the meeting place where everyone was to gather. His new clothes did a great job of protecting him from the elements as he drew his hood up and tightened it so that his ears wouldn't grow cold. Come to think of it, he had other weapons that he could've utilized as well but that also depended on who would shop up.
If no one, he didn't mind leaving and trying again later. It was only right and in the end, it was only just that taking the first steps into a new place was done with someone else for a change.

Wisteria had been eating before he had received a notice from another player. It was actually a bit surprising before he opened his notification and reading the message. The name brought back memories, as he had done a mission with the other before and he remembered him quite fondly. After all, he was a bit easier to get along with than the blonde he had teamed up with though Wist would admit the other was badass. Wisteria shrugged a bit at the thought before actually reading the message and his yellow orbs widened a bit, the floor one dungeon?
Wasn't it a bit early to be going in there? Wist felt the pit of his stomach drop and part of him wanted to close the message and not open it again, but something else stopped him from doing so. If he ignored this now, what would he do when he wanted to go home? There was only one way and that was by beating the dungeon, and taking their lives back as risky as it was. Letting out a sigh he closed the message and called over the npc to finish off his tab before leaving the cafe he had been at.
Well, this was not the way he wanted to start his day, but scouting out the dungeon was a good idea, even if for now it was a quick glance and run. Wisteria moved calmly through the streets despite his stomach doing all kinds of bounces and flips. Still, if he was with someone else, someone he worked well with then maybe this wouldn't be as terrible as it seemed. So instead of fretting he found himself to the dungeon entrance and headed to the place that Blank had mentioned.
He pulled his coat closer around him in an attempt to keep the cold out as the place was covered in snow and ice. When he saw only Blank at the meeting spot his heart dropped some, because hell this was gonna be a pain if it was just them. Though he understood why a lot of people would shy away. "Hey, you the only one here still? I feel like I was the one late." he said moving to sit next to the other his gloved hand moving to push the hair out of his face.
"Takes guts to come here so soon, but I think it's a good idea to at least scout what we are up against." he said softly. "That and taming some beasts in here would be pretty interesting." he said with a small grin. "So, you at least have one person, let's just stay alive okay?" he said giving a small smile.

A thousand and one thoughts were circling about in Blank's mind chasing one another like children playing a wondrous game. Sometimes, he wondered whether or not his own bid for knowledge and love for learning was a danger to all or a virtue. Either way it seemed, he'd have to learn to live with the consequences with what he knew. There was a chill on the first floor of the dungeon but it wasn't solely because of the temperature but also his own dread. He tried not to let this feeling consume him, the feeling that he was missing something far more important than anything he could've imagined. He tried not to let it consume him but sometimes it was too great to bare. In the moments between his partner's arrival and his entrance into the dungeon, he felt a sort of shift in his way of thinking. He could die in this place devoid of warmth and joy or he could die out there. There were so many people who walked about with shaky smiles on their faces and wavering resolve. As if they were trying to keep up a rouse that was sometimes far too unbearable to manage. A little frown settled on his face as he pulled the small booklet from his robes and opened it to the pages where he wrote before. About adventurers, the nature of this "game", Gargantua, and the places that he'd been to thus far. And it all pointed to one thi— A voice called out to him one that was familiar and he raised his head with a little smile. "I told you before that I would stay alive long enough to let you find your mark," he said. "And I intend to always keep that promise."He stood to his feet and nodded to Wisteria. "We can scout but we shouldn't do anything too risky."Blank held out his hand for the other to shake, feeling as long as there was someone else by his side, that this wouldn't be too bad. "Glad to have you."wisteria Hard mode is disabled.

It was cold here, and honestly it reminded him of home, and how cold it used to get there and for a moment Wist found a bit of homesick feelings course through his veins. To be fair he wasn't sure if he would ever be able to go back home, and that hurt deeply. He wondered if his mother had come to wherever he had been transported after the outside world had found out, if his father was still busy like he always was, and if his brother was okay. To be fair a lot of things crossed his mind, but for the sake of not letting it bother him he tried not to think about it too deeply, and instead on beating this game.
Yet, he was surprised when seeing the other green cursor and the familiar avatar soothe his aching heart. He had a good time with Blank the last time he had teamed up with him and he could only hope this wouldn't be the last time he worked with the other. If it came down to it, maybe just maybe they could form a party that actually stayed together for most of the bad things that happened here. Yet Wist would never directly ask at least not this early, but he did notice that his voice had seemed to pull the other from deep thoughts.
"I'm glad you kept your promise, it's nice to see you again blank." he said softly as he gave the other a kind smile. But the worst of their problems were yet to come as they hadn't really started to explore the dungeon yet - and who knew what that would bring up in this little scout of theirs. Learning things about the dungeon was a blessing, but it could also be a very, very dangerous curse. Wist watched as the other rose to their feet and said they shouldn't be risky and he couldn't agree more.
"Oh I'm 100% with you, what good will it do us coming out here and not going back to tell everyone what we found" he said and took his hand almost immediately and for a moment he wondered if the feeling he had of the other would be the same in the real world. Shaking someones hand would always feel different in here than out there but lately even he was forgetting what touching real skin instead of data actually felt like.
"Yea well, thankfully I actually have some monsters on hand this time, so I'm not completely useless." he said rubbing the back of his head. It was all in good fun to laugh like this, and pretend nothing was wrong when in reality they could die here. They would never come back nor see any of their family again, but pretending to live a lie was comforting...
"So how many others did you invite? Do you think they'll actually come?" he asked softly slowly letting go of the others hand now. As much as he trusted Blank to have his back, and he had before, going in this death dungeon with just the two of them was still a little nerve wracking.

If Blank could ease another person's worries then he would've done his best to do so for Wisteria. It wasn't as if he owed him anything and their meeting had been by chance in the first place. However, seeing someone else in pain usually induced the knee-jerk reaction to help them as much as possible. And if he dared to call Wisteria a friend of his then the feeling would only persist until it was too strong for him to ignore. And for that very reason, Blank wouldn't lie to him about the odds of someone else joining them on their venture. "Curiosity got the better of me and instead of inviting a team of people I met," he paused and shrugged. "I decided to give it a go with whomever decided to show their face."He didn't have memories of what occurred before he came to Gargantua but he did have memories of what happened after he awoke in the Town of Origins. Blank spoke to people with colorful language, varying reactions to different situations and their own memories which transcended even his own thinking. All of what he experienced made him truly wonder if this reality that he lived in was fabricated or if it was reality. When he shook Wisteria's hand, he could feel the warmth radiating from another person but was it real? Their hands drew away and Blank's attention shifted to the journal in his hand. They were on a mission to scout the first floor and relay what knowledge they had to the others in town. "And you're not useless, you showed up when no one else would take the chance on this," he said with a wave of his hand. "But if you have any friends that you'd like to call on, would probably be a good time. And I can do the same."
He took a seat where he'd been perched before, motioning for Wisteria to take a seat wherever he'd like. A bit of planning wouldn't hurt when faced with death. wisteria
Do we recruit people to help with the scouting or go in as a two man team?

It wasn't like she had anything better to do than to accompany Blank on a 'spontaneous' scouting mission. Problem was -- he didn't know that. Snow had been waiting for her guild leader to show up only to find that he had gone on without her. Granted, he had probably waited for her for far too long before departing. She was never good with keeping track of the time nor all that great with meeting up at the right place. Regardless, they never failed to run into each other despite it all. ❖ Upon entering the dungeon's floor, Snow's eyes lit up with childish joy completely forgetting Blank as she took in the wondrous sight of snow! She didn't think much only diving into the slushy substance instinctively, giggling. She was completely oblivious to the two other players in the room, focused solely on the snow before her. The last time that she had touched snow was back in her childhood years living in her home country. It was a pleasant surprise considering her initial impression of the floor being along the lines of something like a maze. From making a quick front-side snow angel to burying her head into the freezing cold, Snow was thoroughly enjoying herself. If it weren't for her memory, she would've gone ahead and made a snowman while she was at it. Like a wet dog, Snow shook off herself wildly of the white fluff, refocusing on her actual task: finding Blank. " Blank!" Snow shouted out, hands cupped to the sides of her mouth. The female turned in place, rotating herself around until she had caught sight of the sitting male. She waved excitedly at him and the other player whom, she hadn't seen before. " Blank! Look! Wist blinked ever so slightly when he heard the explanation from the other white haired player. He hadn't really invited anyone in particular...well that was interesting considering how dangerous the area could be. Still, Wist would stick with Blank as the other hadn't let him down before and he was sure he wouldn't let him down here either. Wist was almost reluctant to let the other's hand go as he almost missed the warmth the digital world brought and it had been a while since he had touched someone like that.
A small flush came when the other said he wasn't useless and he quickly moved a gloved hand to rub the back of his head. "Y-Yeah well, thanks. I still am glad I can summon things now so my ability is useful. Hmm call someone?" Wist frown now as he thought of someone he should call but... the truth was he hadn't really befriended anyone here. There were a few players he had teamed up with before that he could call on but having a particular blonde here wasn't something that wist thought blank would approve of so he decided against it.
Wisteria did however take a seat next to the other when he motioned and gave a small smile. "I don't think there is anyone for me to call though, at least not anyone that works well in groups. There is this one guy that's really strong but well - he's got a really bad mouth so maybe next time." he said with a small laugh. That was however when another player seemed to appear and act almost like a child who hadn't seen snow in so long and it was heartwarming.
"You two know each other I presume?" he asked standing for a moment to offer his hand to the newcomer. "Wisteria, a friend of Blank is a friend of mine, nice to be working with you." he said with another of his charming smiles.

Blank flipped through the pages of his journal and found several entries with the names of people that he met before. There was one that he wasn't keen on seeing anytime soon but couldn't deny if caught in a battle. Others were nicer to talk to and more pleasant to be around. While he busied himself with reading, he listened to Wisteria's description of another player only to halt in his train of thought. "That sounds oddly lik—"His sentence was interrupted as someone called out his name. Wisteria's attention seemed to shift as well and Blank turned to see what all the commotion was about. And to his surprise, it was Snow marveling at the miracle which was snow. Blank chuckled as he tuckedh is journal back into his cloak and settled his hands in his lap. Despite his observations and thinking, he hadn't noticed that it was snowing. The snow sat on his shoulders and probably mixed in with the color of his hair. But it made sense that the chill he was feeling came from being burdened with snow. Thankfully, the Snow that called out to him was one that he preferred. As she came closer, Wisteria extended his hand in invitation and Blank was taken aback at his words. Friends. His gaze flicked from one of them to the other, a twinge of fondness in his smile. "She's a member of my guild, or at least the guild I hope to create, called the Soothsayers."Blank stood up, dusting the snow from his shoulders. " I just joined recently and I believe you should as well, Wisteria. Blank's excellent at this leadership thing." Snow's head tilted at an angle to get a better look at the new player, stepping a bit to the side each time to get a better look. Nodding again, Snow turned her attention to Blank next. Wist blinked a bit as the other went through his book and Wist wondered what he could be looking at. He was surprised however when the other started to speak as if he knew Rex, and Wist just couldn't see the two of them working together. Though to be fair, Blank would probably work well with anyone, as Wist himself had worked well with Rex even if he had been an ass.
Yet it seemed both of them were distracted by the newcomer and the subject was left to the side for a different conversation another time. Wist couldn't help but feel his heart warm at the thought of someone close to Blank showing up. Blank was a good person from what he had learned of him so hearing he had more friends really made Wist feel better that he wouldn't be in as much danger as one could going this game alone. Yet introducing himself had gone over well as he helped the woman up from the ground where she was covered in the snow.
Funny enough it seemed that snow was actually part of her name as well. "Nice to meet you Snow." he said before yellow hues glanced back at Blank now. A guild? That was interesting - he hadn't seen a mechanic for guild making yet, but he was sure with a game like this it wouldn't be long before it definitely became a reality. It also meant that most likely blank would never be traveling alone, that was a big relief. The more in a party the better chance for survival after all.
"A guild huh, sounds pretty inter-" he was cut off however when the woman seemed to speak and a slight flush seemed to cross Wist's face making it a light pink. "Ah! I agree that he's a good leader, I've teamed up with him before." he paused moving a hand to rub the back of his head for a moment. "I'm just.. not normally a guild person is all." he said quickly hoping it would be enough to satisfy her for now. As much as he liked working with others in this kind of game you never knew what would happen and that was something he was still uncertain about.
Thankfully Blank seemed to grab her attention for the moment which meant he was safe for now as the flush slowly faded from his face. "Time flies when you're playing games." he said absently. It was probably the biggest quote he had heard as a game player. As addicted to games as Wist had been before getting stuck in this one he had heard it quite often in his life. "Still, you got here before we got too deep in the dungeon which is good."
Yellow orbs glanced back to Blank now and gave a small smile. "So you think three is enough to scout? " he asked. "After all, I think we have a good team here so I wouldn't be opposed to moving on now."

It warmed his heart that the two of them were getting along so well, not only because it would've proved to be better for the scouting mission but because they were his friends. Blank crossed his arms over his chest as he watched Snow interact with Wisteria. The body language and emotions displayed on another person's face were fascinating. It was probably why he took up the hobby of people watching. Sometimes, he had the unfortunate habit of missing social cues but the ones shown by Wisteria were clear as day. Pink dusted his cheeks and his eyes grew wide at the mention of joining the Soothsayers. And the tone of his speech changed from upbeat to apologetic, even a bit dismal, if he was being honest. Blank lowered his arms as Wisteria addressed him and he gave his partner a nod. "I do," he said. "Snow is an Archer, so if need be, she can handle ranged attacks. While I can draw the attention away from you both."With that being said, he took a few steps forward. "So, shall we?"He smiled back at them before walking onward. Though as they walked down the corridor in front of them, Blank could hear the sound of chattering and scraping. He looked up and saw several skeletons hanging from manacles against the walls. "No pressure." wisteria snowlight map layoutWe're starting off outside of room one (5), the western entry way. Skeletons are hanging from manacles against the walls. Continue? Hard mode is disabled.

Having seen Blank in action once herself, she felt reassured by his presence all over again fondly recalling their first quest together. Even though she knew next to nothing about Wisteria, her intuition told her that he had a good, reliable face. That was enough to convince that three was a good number. She was ready. Snow blinked slowly at the mention of her before they moved on. " Oh," she said, touching the bottom of her fist to her open palm. She had remembered something important now that Blank had indirectly reminded her. With a swipe of her hand, Snow brought up the inventory menu. What was an archer without a bow? The female shook her head as she pulled out her beginner's bow, holding it up for Wisteria to see. It was poorly made but, a bow nonetheless. " I'm an archer though, my class is called a hunter if that makes sense," Snow explained with a sheepish smile. " I'll do my best to support you both. As Blank said, you can leave ranged abilities to me though, I'll fight at any range to be honest with you." Snow shrugged, skipping into a walk by the entrance awaiting for Blank to walk ahead of her. She followed closely behind him as they passed through the doorway into a new room. Snow's eyes widened, her heart beating fast, eyes darting rapidly to take in the entire room. " Wow...spooky," she said in a quiet whisper taking notice of the hung bare bones. There was no missing that one. She turned to glance over her shoulder at Wisteria, mouthing, " hear that?" The sound was crisp and growing closer. |

It was nice to see that all of them were getting along, despite his earlier flush at being put on the spot. After all if they got along that would mean they would do pretty well together in combat too, which was where it really mattered. Wist gave the woman a kind smile before his attention was directed to Blank for the time being as it seemed he would be taking the lead on this scouting which was only fair.
"Well in that case, it seems we have a pretty solid team. I'm a close range fighter, Snow is a long ranged fighter and Blank is good at defense, sounds pretty solid to me." he said before giving a nod of his head and another smile. Wist let Blank take the lead before Snow seemed to also take out her bow and give him a little information about herself and her abilities.
"I see, I'm a beast tamer, so I can summon monsters I've defeated and I'm generally good as the front man, so if you want to stick to ranged that's completely fine to me." he said before moving to follow Blank after Snow had taken second behind him. It was fair enough, if they where attacked from behind it would be good for him to be there so they could switch to a better formation. Blank could also hold his own if attacked from the front till Wist got up there, so it was a pretty good run for now.
Yet as they entered the corridor a bad feeling crept up his back as he grimaced a bit at what they were quick to see. "Skeletons, great." he said wondering if they would come to life or something. That would not be fun, though it wasn't like zombies weren't already a game mechanic. "Yeah no pressure though I feel like something breathing down the back of my neck." he replied as the sounds started to get louder like something was heading there way.
Sadly yes he heard it and naturally his hand gripped his blade as he was ready to draw it instantly. "Yeah, I hear it... maybe we should keep moving before we get trapped somewhere. We don't necessarily have to fight the things in here if we can avoid it. It's just a scout after all." he said, though Wist highly doubted they would get out of here without having to fight something.

The skeletons hanging from their manacles seemed to be an omen or at least a warning to whomever decided to venture farther into the dungeon. Blank couldn't say that he didn't feel deterred but he also wondered why someone would go so far to make a display of their power. It seemed arrogant or at least inviting for the foolhardy adventurer with only the idea of wealth. I suppose it's a good thing that I'm seeking knowledge. His thoughts came to a halt at the sound of something approaching their party and as his teammates readied themselves, asking for a quick passage, he wondered. If there were monsters patrolling these halls then wouldn't it be a better idea for them to figure out what they were instead of running away? But thinking back on it, if they were to be overrun here then it would be terrible. Better to just go ahead. They'd always have time to investigate what it was when they headed back. With that being said, Blank nodded and pressed his hands against the wooden door in front of them. He pushed hard and applied all of his strength to make it budge. A loud groaning noise echoed as he pushed it open, dust arising from the lack of use. "Alright, here we go."As he stepped inside, he could hear the rattling of bones. They weren't alone. A troll skeleton let out a cry as it rushed towards the group having been spurred into awareness once the door creaked open. Blank startled first and rushed into the room, casting Invisible Air to draw the skeleton's attention to him. He couldn't say that the monster's missing eyes didn't strike a bit of fear in his heart. wisteria snowlight my bad, here's the map layout
They're inside of Room 5! Being faced with a Troll Skeleton, but there's something patrolling the halls outside. Will you close the door or fight on?

[attr="class","hiraeth"]hríð | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❖ SNOWLIGHT THE HUNTER . . . xxxxx❝ INSIDE I'VE BEEN SHAKEN, MY SANITY TAKEN Snow looked with big bright blue eyes towards Wisteria just to double check that there wasn't indeed something breathing down his neck. She's watched enough horror movies to know how characters like that die. To her relief, there was nothing to be worried about -- yet. Her attention moved away from Wisteria and back to the front. Admittedly, a part of her was curious to know what was making the sound. Little did she know that she was fortunate(?) enough to find out without delay. A heavy footstep had startled her feeling as if the room was quaking right under her. She opened her mouth to comment, but found herself staring up into eye-less sockets, speechless. A monster unlike one that she had seen before showed no signs of stopping it's breakneck pace towards them. Like a flipped switch, Snowlight moved swiftly away from Blank to position away from the creature's range. No words were needed to call her to action as her arrows had already been fired, aimed at the troll skeleton's legs. She couldn't imagine it would do much against a monster that was created to endure the cold. She hoped that at the very least it would inflict some damage. |
