| The entire desert was turning into a freaking war zone. New mobs and areas cropping up all over the place due to the shifting sands, and of course you had players who were scampering to explore and loot all the new stuff as well. But tensions and dangers were higher than hell out here, and not everyone was up to just harmless exploration...
“Nobody is coming out here, why did they leave us on guard duty?” A young swordsman complained as he adjusted his armor in the blowing sandstorm that swept through the ruins. Another adventurer wearing robes at his side sighed under Their hood, “...You don't want to argue with -her-, do you? I say we just enjoy the peace and quiet.” She argued.
The swordsman flinched some, shoulders raising in tension, “Oh...Y-yeah good point.” he slouched forward with a sigh, “Guess you're right.” He gave in. Then came a hissing sound from behind him, and a lightening bolt of pain surged his body as his HP took a sharp dip for the red.
A painfully frantic look filled his features as he pivoted around and reached for his sword, “W-wait who's there?! What the hell are you doing, Sto-” With a flail of his sword to a side he didn't even have time to activate an ability before he was killed in an explosion of pixels. The robed caster quickly screamed in terror and stumbled away with a flick of her arm towards the invisible assailant.
Rex's cloaking instantly broke when he was blasted with a wave of ice shards, the soldier tumbling off to a side in a roll and giving the woman a hunting glare as he reached to grab the dangerous handgun at his hip from a holster and fire off a tangled web of heated crimson projectiles. They impacted her and left her falling backwards in another scream.
The Commando tackled her and put the sizzling barrel of his gun against her cheek as he gripped the front of her clothing tightly and gave her a frightening look, “Why the fuck are you out here?! You and that fuck'n guild?!” He snapped.
The woman looked entirely fear struck, tears welling in the corners of her eyes as he tried to wiggle away, “P-please stop! Who the hell are you?! W-why are you doing this?! D-don't kill me!” She pleaded between sobs.
Rex shook her again, “Quit playing fuck'n soft with me, bitch! Why are you here?!” He snapped again.
“I-I don't know, they just recruited us a few days ago! P-please!” She screamed, shutting her eyes and shivering in fear.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Carlo's solo missions constantly worried Naomi. Every time he went off on his own, insisting that he had to do it by himself, she grew worried for him. It wasn't that she didn't trust him to do his best to stay alive without her there. But it would make her feel better if she was there with him. She couldn't understand why he didn't want her in these particular jobs when he'd invited her to so many others that were just as dangerous. But still, she trusted him enough to let him do what he wanted. That didn't mean she wasn't going to at least hang around in the same area - in case he suddenly called for help. She was stubborn enough to insist it with him and do it regardless of whether he approved or not. So she was working on other jobs of her own, looking for random quests to do in the area. Ever since the weird artifacts being discovered and the appearance of that weird woman back at the starting city, Dione had been very dangerous and chaotic. A lot of work was available for anyone seeking it. She was wandering near the Cursed Ruins when she heard the screams. Body tense, she flew in that direction to see what was going on - but not before turning invisible. Cautious as ever, she moved silently and slowly through the ruins. At some point she had to land on the ground to keep from being blown away by the sandstorm that was passing through. She kept to the walls - or those that were still standing - and peeked around the corner as the voices grew louder. One of those voices sounded frighteningly familiar. Heart thudding against her chest, she moved away from her corner to see Carlo with a woman, gun to her head. She opened her mouth to shout, but a large lump of fear caught in her throat. Trembling, she watched her lover in a way she'd never seen him before. kingrex

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi should've known that Carlo was keeping an eye on everything. She should've been a lot more careful, but in her shock she just stood there frozen as she watched the scene playing out before her. While she was still trying to decide whether to reveal herself or not, Carlo had spotted her and fired. There was no escaping the attack that came at her. It was only through instinct that she pulled up her cloak around herself to let it phase through her. That made her visible to everyone again, but that was the least of her worries. Once she dropped her cloak, the situation between Carlo and the woman had changed in an instant. This time Carlo was down on the ground, with the woman about to cast a spell on him. As it was a magical attack, she couldn't use her wings to protect him. Her cloak was still on cooldown as well. There wasn't any time to think about it. Naomi dove towards the woman, flying towards her with as much speed as she could muster. With a cry, she rammed her shoulder against the other woman, sending the two of them rolling on the ground in a tangled mess. The woman's spell missed its intended target entirely. Sore and dizzy, Naomi groaned and tried to get back up, but the other woman was quicker to recover. Seeing that she was now facing two of them, the woman tried to turn around and run. kingrex

| Time slowed for Carlo in those brief seconds, his teeth ground together in his usual inner rage as he thought of a way to survive. Before he'd even have a chance to make a play, Naomi swooped in and tackled the woman, and when they tumbled away the soldier sat himself up on his knee and went wide eyed to see his lover here virtually out of nowhere. With a swirl of emotions in his chest when the caster started to run it triggered something automatic...
A burst of bullets would pierce though the woman from the back and she'd collapse forward in a dull scream, slowly fading away from the game would in a drift of pixels. Rex had killed her, even though she was running. This was the cruel nature of war, he didn't know if she was running for help or just fleeing to survive...It didn't matter.
He sat there on his knees breathing heavily, distraught and rage filling his heart as he had no idea what to even say. So he broke, “What the hell are you doing here?! Why did you follow me?!” He snapped loudly over the rushing waves of blowing sand. The soldier got himself back to his feet and wiped his face, stalking towards the woman, “You shouldn't of came!” Rex yelled again, looking furious.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again By the time she looked up, the woman trying to run away was screaming as she got hit by bullets and exploded into pixels. Naomi stared, eyes wide in shock as she watched someone die for the first time since she was stuck in this game. It still didn't sink in that the other woman was dead. There was nothing to look at. As if she never existed. She'll probably not really believe it even after the shock was gone. Glancing back to Carlo, she could see him enraged. He was striding towards her in angry steps, shouting at her. "I...I didn't..." Her throat felt dry, and that wasn't from the sand that was still flying all around them. "I wasn't following you. I didn't know..." She was still trying to wrap her mind around what happened here. Since she arrived mid-way through that, she had no idea why Carlo had been fighting these people. Or what they did to deserve death. Carlo wouldn't have shot them for no reason right? He wouldn't! His glare frightened her. It looked so much similar to the one he gave that woman as he shouted and demanded answers from her. Taking a deep breath, she looked him straight in the eye. "I was in the area when I heard screaming. Carlo...what were you doing here? Who was that girl? And..." She wrapped her arms around herself as she thought about the fight, trying to stop her trembling. "Why were you fighting them alone? You could've died back there!"kingrex

| “You're lying!” Carlo barked back, not believing that she'd just happen to be in the right place at the right time. But when she started to cower away from him and worry for his safety everything clouded back into reality. He wasn't just some lone wolf running around doing a nasty job anymore, he had friends...Someone very important now.
And he'd nearly shot her, and that fact settled deep within his soul in a rush of emotion. His angered expression quickly folded into a desperate despair, and he reached out briefly with a hand and groaned with sadness. The poor guy was probably teetering on the edge of losing himself to all of this, but he had to keep fighting.
So as to not lose his resolve entirely recollected himself with some deep breaths...counted to four and repeated a few times before he leveled out into something manageable. “I'm sorry.” He muttered lowly as he crept forward and attempted to wrap an arm around Naomi and hold her head to his chest. “...They're a guild of player killers, and they're after something...” As vague as the explanation was, that was honestly all he knew.
Him and Towns had gone on a mission together before he died, and the sniper had helped him stop one of these lunatics from sacrificing a kid to God knows what in game mechanic. At first he thought it was just a solo incident, but then quickly realized there was quite a few of these bastards in the game world causing havoc.
He'd pull away, if she hadn't shoved him off yet, “I-I can't stay here, I'm sure there's more inside from what they were talking about. I have to stop them...or at least see what they're up to. You should leave, I can't ask you or anyone else in the guild to do something like this.”
He frowned as he back stepped and looked over his shoulder at the chamber's entrance, “...You haven't killed anyone before, this isn't new for me, I'm not going to break any further. Nobody should get blood on their hands like that.” Carlo's warning was from experience; Killing people did horrible things to the mind, and he expected that just because this was a game it wasn't going to change that fact.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again She flinched back at the harsh tone, tightening her hold of herself, but turned her gaze into a glare. Even though she cared for him, even though she was trying so hard to understand him and his actions, she wasn't about to let him walk all over her like that without a fight. "I'm not!" The change was clear to her, and shook her even more than the anger. It was frightening to see all of these shifts in emotion, one after another. Mostly she just hated seeing that pained expression on his face. Carlo seemed to suddenly deflate as he began to reach out to her. Her entire body sagged against his in relief when he pulled her towards him and apologized. She almost started crying then and there, hands grabbing hold of the sides of his armor and gripping it tightly, as if she was afraid he'd suddenly disappear. As he pulled away, she gave a bit of resistance, already missing his comfort and his protection. But she reluctantly let him go and looked up in confusion as he told her to leave. Narrowing her eyes, she moved up to him, holding onto his arm and refusing to release it even as he tried to step back. "I still don't understand what's going on, and why you have to deal with these...players yourself. I don't know why you need to kill them, but I won't let you do this alone." Naomi was terrified. Not only for herself but for him as well. There was still so many questions in her mind, but not enough time to go through them all. "I go where you go. So if you want me to leave, you're going to have to come with me." She wasn't going to back down on this. kingrex

| A grim and desperate smile slithered to Rex's face when Naomi refused to leave, of all the times she had to be acting this way, “...Why do you have to be so stubborn, especially right now?” He pleaded with a long breath. There was just no way around it, she was coming with him as much as he hated the idea. He gave one last pleading gaze towards his lover, “Just...promise me if things get bad you'll get out? You have to.” Carlo was nearly begging as he reached to grab her wrist.
After that he'd turn his attention back on the ruin's entrance, knowing Naomi probably didn't have the answer he wanted to hear. There was a declining ramp of sand where steps use to be, and It was there that Rex jumped himself forward in a slide that carried him downwards into the sunken ancient structure.
When he finally got back on level ground, he'd stumble to his feet and brush himself off, flicking a look over his shoulder to make sure Papi was still there, he'd hold a single finger towards his lips and then make a swatting motion towards the ground as if he was trying to say stay quiet and low during their infiltration.
He'd move them forward, hopping between crumbling pillars, and giant aged pieces of sandy stone within the dark and poorly lit depths of the ruins, all the while looking as military and frighteningly precise as you'd expect from a former marine. As collected as he seemed, he was just as nervous as anyone else would be; Every encounter with a strong enemy was going to be a close brush between life or death.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi's lips were pressed to a thin line, eyes narrowed as she stubbornly faced Carlo without backing down. She hoped that he'd give up whatever he was supposed to do and go home with her, but knew that that wasn't going to happen at all, so refused to leave him behind. Her hands clenched tight as he asked her to make a promise with him. "I'm not leaving this place without you Carlo," she insisted again. While she was a coward and would run the instant trouble came, she couldn't do that with Carlo. Her body was trembling slightly, in fear for both of their lives, but she took a deep breath and settled her nerves. When he grabbed her wrist, she didn't pull away and allowed him to lead her further into the ruins. He slid down the sandy slope first, while she followed after by levitating down. Her wings folded back as she landed next to him, and nodded at his signal to stay quiet. Letting her feet float inches about the ground, she moved as stealthily as she could after Carlo. She made sure to stick as close to him as possible, but far enough to let the other act when needed to, without fear of hurting her. The way he acted only served to increase her own anxiety. They've been working together for quite some time now, but this felt like their most dangerous task yet. Even if Naomi wanted to speak, she couldn't out of fear that something terrible would happen if she did. All she could do was stay with him, support him and try not to get in his way. kingrex

| The Commando tried his best to make as little sound as possible, and each movement was pinpoint cautious to his environment, you could really see the solder in his heart blossoming in moments like this. With a deathly serious expression he led them forward, only pausing to glance back and keep an eye on Naomi.
She was slowing him down, but he'd never admit that. He knew in the end she was going to end up being far more help than not if things went sour. They'd round another corner and slide down a smooth decline of broken wall before landing against another ruined statue, now the faint sound of voices could be heard.
He'd stop them and hold up his cloaking device for Naomi, nodding. It was a straight forward hint enough before he cloaked himself and grabbed her hand so they wouldn't lose each other. He'd gently tug them forward, hoping the fairy's own cloaking ability would hold up as long as his did.
The voices were easy to follow in the echoing ruins of the ancient place, up until they'd finally be able to see the people who were up to no good down here. Rex pulled Naomi with him to hide behind some overturned large sand blocks, peeking out to catch a glimpse to who they were dealing with.
They were still far enough away it was hard to understand their conversation, but you could make out their faces and figures well enough, and that's when things got seriously shocking. One of them was a large and older man in heavy armor with a massive sword, and the other a younger blonde with a devilish and dangerous look about her.
Their faces were entirely to familiar, and it left a shiver down Carlo's spine as he tried to recall just who they were. It took him a few minutes but it finally slammed him like a truck, the Commando quickly pulling away to lean against the rock with wide eyes and a deep breath, he decided to kill his cloaking before him or Naomi got lost in the haze of invisibility, shocked expression settling on the woman as he nudged her to take a peek too.
Sure enough what she'd see was the two players who'd given them the free tickets to the hot springs, but now they were entirely equipped for battle. Rex must have been far to drunk that night to even notice their guild tag, the sick irony of the moment was enough to make his stomach hurt. But just what were they up to?

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again While following her boyfriend, Naomi tried to stay as stealthy as possible. All of her muscles were tensed up as she waited for something - anything to suddenly come at them without warning. In this she was glad to have Carlo's steady presence with her. At the same time she really hoped they didn't have to be here in the first place. As they moved behind a statue, he hinted that she should use her invisibility. Nodding, she turned invisible at the same time he did. She could feel his hand on hers, and she squeezed it for comfort before she felt him tug forward. Whoever was talking, they were making no effort in hiding. They probably had no idea that they were here. Her heart thudded loudly against her chest as they continued moving forward. It felt like everyone in the cave should've heard it by now. Again, she felt Carlo's pull, and she moved right next to him. She waited patiently as he did something. With the cloak on, she couldn't see what he was doing. A few seconds later, he revealed himself and looked back at her with a strange expression on his face. Naomi furrowed her brows in confusion, until he gestured for her to look as well. Keeping the cloak on, she shifted and took a peek over the rocks as well. Her eyes grew wide when she recognized the faces of the couple they met before, then narrowed as she wondered who they were exactly and what they were doing here. She revealed herself to Carlo as she went back down, looking back at her lover with confusion and worry. kingrex
