"So, this is the ocean."
It was magnificent and stretched as far as the eye could see. The salty smell of water made his nose itch but aside from that, it was amazing. Blank took a few steps forward only to startle as water washed over his boots. It sloshed around inside and tickled the soles of his feet which only made him smile although it regressed into a grimace a few moments later. A sigh escaped him as he stepped forward to chase the water as it receded. This process continued a few times until a hearty laugh could be heard from behind him. He turned his head slightly and saw a brawny man standing behind him scantily clad. The tips of Blank's ears burned as the man approached him and clasped a hand against his shoulder. "Magnificent, isn't she? A true spectacle." Blank felt it was easier to keep his eyes on the man's face rather than look down. Even though he looked old enough to be his father, it would've been stranger to look anywhere else. "A lot of people don't come here, son. Probably because they have better places to go or after that entire ordeal a little while ago, they have things to deal with."
It hadn't dawned on Blank that he was one of the few people on the shoreline. For such a marvelous sight, there were very few people to share it with and that was saddening to say the very least. The man's grip tightened on his shoulder drawing his attention back to the situation at hand. "That's why we're going to throw a shindig so great that all of Gargantua is going to attend!"
The color drained from Blank's face as he opened his mouth to disagree only to be interrupted by a familiar box opening in front of him. Another quest, huh? He couldn't argue with the sum of money that he'd receive from it or the prospect at learning more about his place. But he didn't even have many friends to call upon to help him with the "shindig". Despite the odds pitted against him, he pressed the button to accept the terms for the quest and the man let out a hearty laugh before making his way back up the shoreline. "Don't let me down kiddo!"
This was gong to be easier said then done. notes: mission details here, anyone welcome!

[attr="class","chrds"]As much as he loved it, the ocean was usually a rare sight for Parfait to behold in real life, living in the mainlands and away from any coastlines. Feeling the sunkissed sand between his toes, he basked in the wide, blue beauty of the sea stretched before him, somehow managing to resist an urge to just flop down into the water and lay there. The white cloak he wore was cast aside into his inventory, stripped of his heavier equipment other than his bottoms and underarmor—the fact that he had yet to see a monster around here after leaving the city was worrisome to the player, but more than that, a nice change of pace to all the grinding and evading mobs to explore the map. If a giant hermit crab came springing out from under the sand to attack, he would deal with it as it happened. But for now, it was time for cliched, a long walk on the beach. Or so he thought. "Hey there, buddy!" Perhaps unfortunately, it was not a monster, but a booming voice that would suddenly apparate, closely enough to give the long-haired male a start. The only thing keeping him from actually diving into the water was a hand bearing down on his shoulder with sharklike strength, and a grinning mouth of pearly whites that were just as metaphorical. "Are you here to help out, too?" For no clear reason, he let out a booming guffaw, causing the troubadour to lift a brow in question. "Help what now? Not really, no—" Even if he had no clue what needed help, the word alone was a turn-off for Parfait, since it usually involved doing something, and immediately inclined to deny anything he was being accused of. The stocky man-presumed-NPC however, was going to have none of it. "Well, of course ya are! Come on, it's this way!" Almost instinctively with inherent knowledge of his fate to come, the healer rooted his feet to the ground, but it was a futile attempt to resist when the sand gave him no traction, instead drawing two thick lines across the beach as he was pulled along. "Hold on a second..." Parfait's protesting was just as weak, sounding like he already accepted the grave being dug and was allowing himself to be abducted so he could spare himself the walk. Keeping his eyes ahead, he tried to discern what exactly "it" would be, but all he saw was more beach, and eventually, the shape of other person growing clearer in the distance. Moments later after having left the defender previously, he was coming right back, this time with new company being dragged in tow. At last, he was released, pushed forward to the other player. "Kiddo, here's someone to help ya! Hop to it now!" And with that, the NPC vanished again with a wave of his hand, leaving the two to their work. With a small click of his tongue, the troubadour rubbed the back of his neck, standing straight as his other hand rested at the hip. "Aah... I don't know what's going on, but hey there." It could have been anything, but he was lowkey hoping it would be something like teaching this guy to swim. At least that meant water. &these four chords was planning to jump one of these before you even asked! :> first post is always a rocky one, tho. that was you. It had been a long time since he'd visited the ocean. Catharsis frowned, trying to remember the last time he'd visited the ocean. No, no, the real ocean. From where he'd lived, it hadn't been so far away, but he couldn't remember the last time he'd gone. He shrugged the thought away like a pesky fly, enjoying the sensation of his feet sinking into the sand. The sensations were familiar. For someone more prone to naval gazing, it'd bring back memories. Fortunately, Catharsis wasn't the type. He'd been expecting a monster or something, anything at all, to pop up along his walk but nothing came jumping out of the figurative woodwork to maul him but an overfriendly ... sailor? Resident, he decided as he was forced to take a step back to narrowly escape some kind of overfriendly contact. He frowned at the advance, unsure what to think or say about whether or not he was helping. He wouldn't call himself an unhelpful person, but he wasn't terribly convinced to put in time and effort just for the sake of it, skirting just out of the grasp of the person he was less and less convinced was a player. Even when he got hit with the tale of woe that no one visited, he wasn't entirely won over that the beach was a place that should be even more populated. So what? He thought, unconvinced right up until a quest box appeared in front of him and all he saw were dollar signs. Money for no fighting? A sharp laugh rippled out of him as the npc went on his merry way. And a party to boot. What was wrong with parties? Best quest ever. He wasted no time in striding over on long legs towards the other two nearby, finally clued in as to why anyone else might be there. How lucky, working alone would be so much effort. And if this quest had any monstrous surprises and he was alone, he'd be royally fucked. "Hey, you all got that quest, right?" He chimed, as deceptively cheery as could be. "We should work together. It'll go by faster." He glanced from one person to the other, not quite recognizing either. If luck wasn't with them, he'd probably never see them again after this, but Catharsis was hardly the kind of person to dwell on that kind of thing. "Do either of you have any ideas?" He asked, already assuming they'd go along with his idea. Obviously, they would. They'd have to be dumb as rocks to actually want to work alone on the same thing if they didn't have to. blank parfait [hope jumping in here was a-ok!] MADE BY ★MEULK

When the old man mentioned working on a party to attract people to the shoreline, Blank somewhat suspected other people would be involved. In truth he couldn't remember any parties that he might have attended in the years prior to him waking up in Gargantua. If he attended any at all then it would be a miracle for him to remember even that much. For the time being as he waited for someone to arrive, he busied himself with writing things down in his notebook. It wouldn't do for him to forget and he was becoming increasingly enamored with the idea of the Soothsayers. A little smile found purchase on his face as he felt the water wash over his boots before receding. This world was absolutely beautiful and although he sometimes felt off and as if he didn't belong, it also felt right at home. Maybe there was something that he was forgetting which was dire. Something that everyone else had but it didn't mean that he had to be down about it. While he continued drawing, he heard crunching sand and lifted his head. A man with stark white hair stood nearest to him, and the old man who cajoled him to take this quest in the first place said that he was there to help. Blank chuckled exasperatedly. Another poor soul was dragged into the fray. "It's a quest," Blank said plainly. "Not a lot of people have been coming to the shoreline so he wants us to make a party and attract tourists."Somehow it seemed very familiar. He opened his mouth to introduce himself before being interrupted by another passerby. He tilted his head to the side and settled his journal in his jacket. "I had a few ideas but they'll take a lot of work to prepare. Games, a bonfire, maybe even preparing food. Little things like that should attract people."parfait catharsis

[attr="class","chrds"]The question was a short-lived one, and an answer he should have expected. Not long after the (curiously) notebook-toting player had explained the situation to him, a window popped into view on his visuals, detailing the quest in all its glory. Although he groaned to himself, Parfait was not one to turn down making progress when opportunity arose, and at least it did not sound like it would involve fighting for the moment, and hopefully it stayed that way. Event hosting was an entirely different realm of stress on its own, however. "But the beach is a party on its own," He sighed with a half-hearted jest, finding it easy to spot the arrival of a third person and their crimson-haired grace to join on their party planning just as he expressed a silent appreciation for not being stuck with the task by his lonesome. While his snow-haired compatriot would provide the verbal response, the troubadour tossed out a thumbs up in wordless approval, inwardly feeling slightly more energized upon seeing that someone in the group had the zeal for this. Without further ado, the trio jumped into the thick of it, while a little voice in the back of Parfait's mind would briefly question how the game was to deem what they did was a party. Technology was very mystifying sometimes. "A bonfire sounds like the easiest thing to prepare with our resources," It wasn't like they could go to a party store and buy decorations or tableware. "And food is a must, of course. Studies show the main reason most people attend parties is for free food. Cake by the ocean?" ... Was that reference too old for his audience? Sparing a soft moment to tilt his head, wondering if it elicited a response, the male waved his hand dismissively and continued with more than just simple affirmations of what already had been said. "On that note, music would be a big plus," Though he hoped that in suggesting it, he did not have to be the one to provide. "Volleyball or limbo... also," Trailing off into a tangent of his murmurings, he suddenly pointed in both of their directions, a wry smile on his face, "dress for the occasion."It would be strange if the designated hosts were all clad for battle at their own party, no? &these four chords yes, welcome! cathy's fake cheerfulness is backfiring bc now parf wants to give him all the work.

that was you. Catharsis had thought he was so smart, and it was biting him right in the ass. Never in his life had karma been this instantaneous. He stared blankly at the man who had, essentially, taken charge although he wasn't sure exactly who he was saying should do what. The vagueness of it, Cat had ever intention of trying to turn around if the guy was trying to do what he thought he was. In real life, he'd never been particularly strong and he definitely didn't look the part, so he wasn't sure why the guy thought he was about to carry the three of them through the whole quest. "Keep on hoping." He echoed faintly but frowned. "I don't suppose there are npc caterers or something. I don't suppose either of you just ... carry around food?" Parties were easier to handle when you had money. Was there some kind of discount for buying in bulk he didn't know about? He shrugged his shoulders, not terribly bothered. "I guess worst case, one of us just has to go get some. Why not some drinks and invitations while we're at it, if that's the case?"He raised his shoulders in a shrug, smiling weakly before glancing over at the quieter one. "I don't know much about music or ... setting up a volleyball game. Do either of you?" He assumed that, even if he wasn't looking at him, the other person would chip in. Or at least say something. blank parfait [/salutes take care] MADE BY ★MEULK
