'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Since Catharsis had no intentions of eating with her, but was offering to pay for her, she decided that the best compromise would be to go to some kind of small cafe or stall and just have something quick and simple for a meal. She couldn't possibly enjoy eating or drinking when the other wasn't. Returning to the town of Izanami, she picked out a nice, pretty place to rest up in. A nice, cozy little shop that sold dango and other snacks and drinks, situated practically on the outskirts. Naomi had no idea if the place was really good or not, and simply happened upon it as they walked back. "This looks like a good enough place to relax in," she said, glancing at Catharsis with a grin before entering and picking a seat further back in the room for some privacy. Sitting down first, she picked up the short menu that was placed on top of the table and started looking through selections. "Are you sure you don't want anything? A drink maybe, or something light and small."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It was a nice change of pace. A calm walk, his own two feet on the ground, not necessarily looking over his shoulder or rushing straight into the next death trap. A breather was something he could welcome, even if he wasn't going to eat himself. He followed her into the cozy little place, all the way into the back. He raised an eyebrow for a moment, noticing the preference for privacy; most he knew would want to sit by a window for scenery, but he preferred it this way. He chose not to comment as he sat down across from her. "No, I'm fine." He responded in a light tone, running a finger down the menu even as he wasn't going to order something. "This looks like a good enough place, lucky us." At least, from what he could tell, it wouldn't make her sick. Then again, he had yet to discover if that was something that could actually happen in the game. "Do you know what you want?" He asked, leaning back and tilting his head.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Even after asking him again, Catharsis seemed intent on not eating or drinking anything. Naomi shrugged, leaving it at that as she focused on picking what she wanted. She tried, and if he really didn't want anything and was willing to pay for what she ate then she wasn't going to feel guilty about it anymore. Though she did choose something light and cheap. It would be rude of her to take too much advantage of the free meal. "I'm thinking of some tea and a plate of dango," she replied. Raising a hand, she easily caught the attention of one of the staff and ordered what she wanted. There was no one else in the shop besides them, so service was quick and instant. Once she was finished, the waiter left them. With a smile at Catharsis, she propped both of her elbows on the table and rested her head on her fingers. "You know, I never did get to tell you how grateful I was to bump into you before back at that mansion. I mean, it's not a big deal and all, since it was just a quest. But I'm glad to be done with it. So thank you."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Luckily for him, Papilion was quick to drop it. Sometimes people pushed on that kind of thing, and at that point it'd just get awkward. The moment Papilion ordered for herself, Catharsis relaxed and just let himself observe. It was out of habit that he paid attention to how she treated the waiter, how she demonstrated her ordering, all the way down to her posture. A series of small bits of information that meant nothing to most people, but would tell Cat more about the person he was dealing with than anything they might say out loud. When the waiter addressed him, he thanked her and asked for just water, ignoring the look it earned. When she went on to thank him for the zombie incident, though, his expression dropped for a moment. Then, he laughed, voice soft when he spoke. "You're joking, right? I was lucky you were there. If I had given up and gone in on my own, who knows what would've happened." He had an idea. She probably did, too. Saying it out loud, though? Yeah, out of the question. "Either way, we both got to move on." He didn't want her to draw on it, so changing the subject seemed like the smart way to go. Just as quickly, his expression changed into his usual smile. "I think we work really well together. If we actually had a balanced party, who knows what we could do."

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again As Caritas laughed, she smiled back at him. That was true, she supposed. He'd been in the same situation as her, though Naomi would never actually consider going into the mansion herself. The zombies were no problem, but she suspected she'd have trouble dealing with the boss at the end of that quest. To fight him one on one was tempting death, even at her level, and some meager rewards and experience wasn't worth that kind of risk. Before she could ask why he really wanted to go into the mansion, he'd move the conversation further. Naomi let it go, deciding that they were indeed past that point now and there was no use in looking back on it and wondering what could've happened had they done things differently. She laughed again. "I'd like to think we'd be unstoppable. But then maybe that's the reason why we haven't found the perfect people for that kind of team right?""I have my own guild now, actually. A couple of heavy hitters and a tank, but no healers." She sighed at that, remembering the quests she participated in with them as her teammates. "Worse, these guys tend to like getting up close and personal with the enemy. So even if we're both not all that strong, it's a breath of fresh air to be with someone who actually thinks before they act."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Cat snickered. "You're right. 'Can't let anything be easy." If they actually had someone to watch their backs or deal out the damage they couldn't, or hell, both, things would probably go way too smoothly. That was, provided everyone did their job. With that in mind ... He frowned slightly when she went on to explain how her guild functioned. Or rather, didn't. "Been there. It's hard enough to have to babysit healthbars and keep track of who actually needs healing without the adrenaline junkies and glory hunters or whatever else. I'm not sure how you can deal with it without having a healer around." He said, resting his chin on the palm of his hand, fingers curled inward. "So, is it your guild, or is there some reason you joined?" He asked, eyelids closing just a fraction. It wasn't a life or death question, but Papilion seemed like a smart person to him. It didn't add up for her to be dealing with the sort of group she described without good reason.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again She nodded at his words, knowing exactly what he meant by babysitting and constantly worrying about her party. "They're a pretty strong group. Mostly we get by through endurance. I can make sure they don't get killed when they jump in, and they've got their own means of defenses." As she thought it over, if they had a main healer in the team things would become so much easier. Pretty much similar to her hope of having a steady group of strong-minded, calm and rational players. "We manage somehow. Sometimes we get a few close calls but we're all still alive at least." That was really the most important thing to her. At his next question, she smiled. Thoughts of Carlo and that night when they started dating, the drinks, the slowly growing intimate embraces, and his invitation to her, ran through her mind. It had been awkward and nerve-wracking, but it was also fun and wonderful. "Nah, it's not my guild. It's my boyfriend's. For all my complaints, I would rather be there to keep an eye on him at the very least. If it means having to watch over others as well, then that's fine." Though the others were weird, reckless and a big headache, they were strong players. And despite all of their differences, they chose to stick around. "Sometimes you just have to make do with what you have." "And what about you?" she continued. "Why aren't you in any guild yourself? I'm sure there are people out there who'd want a competent healer, and you're really good."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY For a moment, Cat just listened. He could bite the bullet and sugar coat it, for her. She'd been good to him, but even the thought made him curl his fingers until his nails pressed lightly against the skin. "It sounds like a gamble to me. That's the kind of thing that could catch up to them if they don't work out the kinks, you know?" He said softly, glancing over as the waitress placed the drinks in front of each of them. He didn't move to touch the water, his focus returning to Papilion. "Not that I've actually met them. Just tell me to fuck off if you don't want to hear it." After all, most people didn't. At the admission that she had basically joined her boyfriend's guild, he quieted for a moment, letting the back of his fingers rest against the chill of the glass of water but still not actually moving to drink it. "I guess I can follow the logic there, then. Who better to protect him than you?" When she mentioned something about making due with what she had, he nodded. When she broached the subject of guilds with him, though, he leaned back, fingers trailing away from the glass of water and chin leaving his palm as left his hands weakly folded on the edge of the table. "Me?"His gaze trailed away at the compliment, but he shrugged. Briefly, he considered deflecting, trying to pull the conversation back to how she'd met her boyfriend, but it would be too obvious now. "I just," He faltered for once, aware of her probable intentions with him now but no more comfortable than if he hadn't been able to figure them out, "I'd rather not." He didn't have to justify it to her, or anything else for that matter, but the words tumbled out anyway. "I'm not really into being told what to do or where to be. Or how to do my job." He let out a sigh, raising a hand as if to flick away the thought before letting it fall back down. "Besides, guilds seem ... crowded. And like a commitment. Or at least, messy if you have to leave." Knuckles drummed lightly against the wood beneath them, and he did not lean forward anymore. "It's better to be available to more than just the one group, I think. Or able leave when I need the space without having to report to someone for permission." He added, not mentioning that this was exactly what he had done after nearly every raid to date.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again "Oh no, that's fine," Naomi smiled and lifted a hand to wave it assuringly at him. "I know what you mean and I'm glad that someone thinks the same way at least. I'm...worried for him because of it." Catharsis probably didn't need to ask for the identity of the 'him' she was referring to. The people in the guild were crazy. Reckless. Wild. And none of them seemed to really get along with one another. Not really. She couldn't even stand to be in the same room as all of them at once. "But he's doing his best...so I'm going to be there to help." It was the conclusion she arrived at. Even with the complete chaos between all of the members, somehow it worked. So far. She saw the way Carlo made so much effort for the team - as much as he didn't want to admit it - and she knew that seeing it break apart would really upset him. Nodding slowly, she listened attentively to Catharsis's own explanation of why he wasn't with any guild. Picking up her tea, she took a sip before she spoke. "When you put it that way, it does sound like joining a guild is just an unnecessary hassle," she said with a chuckle. "I get it. You don't have to look so worried, I'm not going to recruit you if you don't want to. I'm not even sure I want you to join mine. Wouldn't want you to have to go through the same torture." catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis relaxed, grateful to hear Papilion wouldn't hold it against him and maybe didn't even want him in her guild. "That's a relief. Even the best of people can get pushy about it." He said lightly, glancing up towards the waitress as she brought over Papilion's order. He didn't comment on the time it had taken, hoping that meant they were fresh rather than anything else. Having been released from the prospect of a guild, though, the subject was basically dropped as far as he was concerned, giving him the option of steering towards something else. "So, he seems important to you," Cat ventured, testing the boundaries of what he could and couldn't ask again, and also not feeling any need to specify. "Did you know each other from before all of this, or what?" He asked, eyes closing halfway. He hadn't leaned forward again yet, even relaxed, resting up against the chair. "It sounds like there's some kind of story there, yeah?"After all, the worst that could happen would be she'd tell him to back off or to drop the subject.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again When the waitress returned with a plate of dango, she left it there for a bit to sip more of her tea. A slight blush appeared on her face as Catharsis asked about her relationship, and she looked intently into the cup to avoid his gaze. It was strange to be talking about this with someone like Catharsis, who wasn't exactly a friend but was one of the only ones she got to really spend time with other than Carlo and her guildmates. This kind of talk was usually done with her really good friends, and she found herself missing that kind of companionship. Just having someone to complain to or gossip with or just chat about anything that could be talked about. Who wasn't her boyfriend. "We only met each other here in the game," she began. "We've been picking out the same quests and doing them together. Then I invited him for some drinks during the Festival of the Moon, and...well...it just happened I guess. I don't want to bore you with the details." Especially since some parts were a bit more intimate, and she wasn't ready to share that with Catharsis. She picked up a stick and bit into the first dango. Until today, she'd never tried the snack and didn't really know what to expect. Her eyes lit up as she tasted it. "Oh! This is surprisingly good."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It wasn't the answer he'd expected, but it wasn't unheard of, either. He accepted it pretty readily, running a thumb over the adjacent finger while he listened. It wasn't his favorite task in the world to carry out, but it had its purpose. First and foremost, it might endear him to Papilion; she had been good to him so far, and he didn't want that to stop anytime soon. Secondly, however, even information that seemed miscellaneous to him had turned out to be useful to him before. There was nothing wrong with filing it away for later. The Festival of the Moon, huh? A time of grieving for most involved, but that tracked for him. What better time to get involved than when death is looming in someone's mind? That was something that made sense to him. 'I don't want to bore you with the details' was something Catharsis had said when he basically wanted a subject to be dropped before. His eyes glinted for a moment as he watched her, but once again, he had liked Papilion so far, so he dropped it. He laughed, a short, dry noise when she tried the snack and had a physical response to it in how her eyes lit up. It was interesting to him how other people could enjoy food while knowing it wasn't real. Still, if it helped them keep on going, he supposed that would make it worth the cost of some virtual money they could probably easily make back int he day. Or at least, that was what he was telling himself today. "Glad you picked a good place, then." He murmured. Honestly, with how empty the place had been, he'd almost been worried.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again She waited for his reaction, and was surprised when he didn't really say anything about it. Catharsis remained neutral and casual about learning that she'd only formed the relationship while they were stuck in the game. When he spoke earlier about her joining a guild, he seemed pretty verbal in his opinion, so this silence was unexpected. Some people would've been frowning at this. They would've told her that none of this world was real, and there was no telling what would happen. To put your trust in someone that much, to fall in love now, wasn't the best time in the world. Who knew whether they could really be trusted. Naomi imagined all sorts of comments of disapproval from people, and she was glad that Catharsis didn't say any of it - whether he actually thought that way or not. Since he said nothing about it, she said nothing further in return. At the change in topic, she smiled as she picked up the stick, and bit, and chewed again. "Yeah, lucky me."After swallowing, she let out a sigh and a small shake of her head. "Did you ever imagine you would be sitting here, trapped in a game and eating something that's not even really there? Well, I am at least. But you get what I mean."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY "Lucky you." Cat echoed with a small smile, voice practically a hum. Luck was a funny thing. As far as Catharsis could tell, it had never quite taken to him. Or, perhaps more accurately, it had run out a long time ago. Someone on the outside looking in, however, might disagree. It was always hard to say. A breathy laugh left him at her question, a hollow noise. She was having fun, but it had stirred little more than bitterness for the Empath. "Not even in my nightmares." He shifted his weight, aware of just how negative that was. He shook his head. "I ... was never really all that into video games. It hadn't exactly been my idea to play in the first place." He raised a hand as if to discard the thought. "If someone had told me I'd be in this position months ago, I wouldn't have listened." He leaned back in his chair again, glancing over his shoulder out of habit before looking back to her. "What about you? Were you looking forward to the game, before all of this?"

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Catharsis' bleak response made her nod slowly, with a small frown on her face. She couldn't really agree or disagree with what he said. This game was a prison, and she hated that they were all stuck here with the risk of permanent death, instead of it being a harmless game to enjoy. But she couldn't view it entirely as a nightmare like the other did. There were so many beautiful things in the game that she admired, and there had been good things that came from being stuck here. Such as meeting Carlo. In any other circumstance, she didn't think the two of them would have ever met or gotten together. At his question, she smiled sadly. "Like you, I don't really play games that often. This was supposed to be something I tried out because it was unique and interesting. Maybe I'd play it a few times when I was bored and had nothing else to do at home." Her work would've occupied a lot of her time, leaving her no chance to even take the game seriously. She sighed heavily as she bit into the dango again. "I'm sorry to hear that you got into this when you weren't even interested in it," she said. At least she had chosen to play the game, and she accepted the fact that she was here because of that choice. Looking back up at him, she tried to give an encouraging smile. "Well get out of this someday. We just have to keep going."catharsis
