GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis tilted his head some, watching Papilion instead of interrupting as she spoke. When she finished, he nodded slowly. "I wasn't asking for pity, but I like your idea. As long as we get out of here, that's all that matters." He admitted. For some reason, the concept felt hollow; would just getting out of the game be enough, if it meant having to face what had been lost out there? It didn't matter, he decided just as quickly. Not yet. He just had to keep moving, and not think too hard about it. He did hum a single note, thoughtful. "So, of all the games to try on the day of release, you wound up with this one." He mused, letting his left knuckles knock lightly against the wood of the table. It was interesting, just how real it felt. Would it still have felt that way if he could log out at any time? "That fucking sucks, but you still seem to be handling it better than some I've seen in here." Or, well, most of the people he had run into so far, actually.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Her face flushed slightly as she pulled back from the table and shook her head. "Oh no, I wasn't being - I'm so sorry." She hadn't meant to be pitying, but she supposed she was. Looking down, she avoided his gaze for a while as she continued eating her snack. At least he hadn't taken too much offense to what she said. When he next spoke, Naomi tilted her head and pursed her lips. Looking up at him again, she spoke. "Well, I mean...I don't like feeling down all the time." As someone who went through rough times as well, she knew how bad it could get. Maybe it had something to do with her personality, but she wasn't the type of person to keep dwelling on what went wrong, or things she could've done differently. "Sure we're all stuck here and it's awful, but we're still alive. And I would rather be doing something about it than...I don't know...crying or getting unnecessarily angry over it I guess.""Meeting my boyfriend helped too," she admitted. "And meeting nice people like you. It helps to know that you're not alone. And that everyone is doing the same thing, just trying to survive."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis paused, tilting his head just a fraction as he studied her. If she wasn't being genuine in her apology, she could've fooled him. All of their interactions had been kind so far, but Catharsis knew from experience that it was only ever a matter of time. There had only ever been one exception to that rule. His lids closed halfway over his eyes as he leaned back with a smile. "I'm not offended, don't worry. Just making sure." If it became a trend, sure, they might have a problem. For now, though, there was nothing to worry about. After that, he listened to her reasoning, eyes opening more fully to examine her while she talked. Again, she seemed more honest than he typically expected of people. He wasn't sure how he felt about that, but for now, it seemed harmless enough. When she called him nice, he blinked only once. It was nice having his efforts acknowledged. That was, after all, what it took for him to be nice. He needed Papilion, and other players like her, to not only need but want him around. "Silver lining, hm?" He said softly, less certain than she was. "I guess that's a good way to keep yourself going." And survive. It seemed smart, as long as she was able to continue thinking of things that way. Good for her, really. Gaze flicking up, he looked at over the nearly empty restaurant, as if checking to make sure it was still that way out of habit. Assuming Papilion was nearly done, Catharsis pulled up his interface to foot the bill. After all, he'd given his word that he would. "You have somewhere to be after this?"

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again As he commented on it, Naomi wondered what kept Catharsis going. It didn't seem like he had someone in the game like she had Carlo, and since he didn't have any sort of guild to depend on, that meant he was more used to just moving around and meeting all sorts of people to do quests with. That meant he probably didn't have a group of players whom he hung out with constantly either. Maybe he had something in the real world waiting for him. She would've asked, but he had already shifted the conversation elsewhere, and was preparing to pay for the bill. There was no real reason for her to press the issue, so she let it go. The plate of dango in front of her was nearly done, but her tea wasn't, so she picked her cup up and finished what was left while he waved his hand in the air. "No, I don't really have anywhere I should go," she told him in answer to his question. "After this I'll probably head back to the guild and rest there." Carlo might be back home after whatever it was he was currently doing, and this conversation with Catharsis was making her miss him and want to show her appreciation for him. But still, Catharsis' question was curious. She tilted her head to one side as she looked at him questioningly. "Why do you ask?"catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY So far, he'd kept the conversation a safe enough distance from himself. In that, he considered himself pretty successful. He liked Papilion so far, but his life was his, and he didn't trust her not to share with just about anyone who might ask yet. It said nothing about her as a person. It was possible he might never trust anyone in the game. He blinked once when she spoke. Was the guild rich enough to have its own place for them to rest? Like, communal housing or something? He wondered what it would be like, to never really be alone at the end of the day. Personally, the Empath needed the space and quiet, but for others it might be their only option. At the end of the day, he knew it spoke of wealth for the guild, if his assumption was correct. Good for them. When she asked why he had asked, he paused, before breaking into a soft laugh. "I ... don't know." He admitted, shrugging lightly. "Old habit, I guess." He tilted his head, just a fraction. "I guess people don't usually ask, where you're from?" Then again, it could've just been the way he'd said it. Or it could just be that people didn't ask her. Sometimes, it was difficult to pinpoint.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again She furrowed her brows in confusion when Catharsis didn't really have an answer for why he asked. Well if he simply wanted to know what she was doing after this, then she supposed there was nothing wrong with asking. It wasn't like she was doing anything that was so important that it had to be kept a secret. If there was, she wouldn't mention it at all. "I suppose," she replied at his question. She thought about it, wondering if she'd ever been asked such a question before. "I'm just not used to people asking what I'm doing afterwards for no reason. Usually there's some sort of purpose to it." Sometimes her dates would ask her that when they wanted to spend even more time with her. Or if someone wanted to ask a favor from her. In her world, people don't usually ask for the sake of getting to know the other person. "You're the first one to ask out of pure curiosity.""Anyway, don't worry about it. It's fine." She got up from her seat while smiling at him. "Thank you for paying. And the company. We should hang out again sometime!"catharsis
