"Yea, yea, lefty tried to step into a fire! But I woke him up, and he was all grump, started chasing after me trying to hit me with his newspaper, you know, it was late at night. Not too far from here, actually!" She set the scene hands in the air giving expressive movement to help increase the realism. "We ended up stuck in a bandit camp! Fighting off big baddies left and right, we were pinned all over the place!"
"Under the night sky, bullets were fired everywhere, and all I had was my knife! I was chopping 'em up, biting 'em, the works! And gun guy was like 'bang bang, pshew pshew pshew, you'll never catch me alive,' it was great!" She smiled, hopping and spinning in circled. "Then, the last guy, we beat him. Big armored fella, almost killed us both. And gun guy was like 'hasta la vista,' BOOM, shot him dead in the face hole! POW!" She pointed at her face in the explanation. It was an extravagant story telling. Lots of spinning, arm flinging, and hopping.
"And then he pointed his gun at me..." Suddenly, the tone shifted. "Pulled the trigger, but there was no bullets left. So..." She shrugged. "My head didn't go pop like the big bandit guy. Lucky for me." She stopped, scratching her head. "Yeah, no. I'm good." She shook off the melancholy, smiling up towards the sun.

"..."[break] Well, that was certainly... enlightening. How in this world or the next did someone respond to that, exactly? Raynauld wasn't even certain what exactly had happened in anything involving Akeno's story... Well, no, that was a lie. There were a few things he could recognize.[break] So, Rex had tried to kill Akeno? For what, existing? It was true that she was, by far, the most danger-prone of the group, but still. Though, he did look and act like a soldier, and unlike Raynauld's knightly vows it didn't seem to be an act. Raynauld didn't doubt that if he or anyone else in the guild stepped over a boundary that he'd shoot them on sight and never look back.[break] And with how quickly Akeno switched to and from her various moods... Maybe she was bipolar? She had to have some form of personality disorder, honestly.[break] "I see. Well, that certainly sounds..." Sounds what? Eventful? "like you had a lot of fun." You know, ignoring the whole "she almost died" part. Now what, though?[break] "So... why form the guild, then?"[break] akeno

"Now that one," She shrugged her shoulders. "I haven't got an answer for. I think that was all gun guy's call." She pursed her lips, nodding in affirmation. "I was surprised to get an invite. But that's probably just cause I'm pretty. And I hadn't met wolf girl at all before gun guy introduced us at our first guild meeting."
She really had no sort of answer for that. The Cannibal hadn't expected to be part of a guild, especially one with that guy. She didn't really have a clue why the guild was around, why she was a part of it, or anything in between.
"Dunno bout him. He's probably hiding stuff. Or just whiny." Akeno did a cartwheel as they walked, just for the heck of it, like ya do. "Almost kicked me out when I was crying too! Either way, you're lucky you've got a good head." She poked at the side of his braincase. "Mine's all scrambled inside, so gun guy doesn't like me. But he likes you, ya know."

As far as Raynauld could tell, Rex absolutely detested working with Akeno. He definitely detested working with Raynauld, at least. It probably shouldn't have been a huge surprise that Rex tried to kick her out, too - why keep her if he hated her so?[break] He doubted it was a situation similar to his own, at the very minimum.[break] Regardless, there were still things to scoff at - especially her last statement.[break] "Hah! The commando likes me? Getting hit in the face for him doesn't completely constitute a safe, sane relationship. Best joke I've heard all day." Despite his dismissal of her, it was a true statement; you couldn't really base a friendship off of "he gets hit in the face for me". Though, something more sinister lurked within Akeno's statement - something it was probably time to address.[break] "So, I've been wondering. You keep saying your mind is scrambled and broken. Why is that? Do you have some form of neurodivergency or whatever they're calling it these days?" Raynauld had admittedly slept through a lot of his health classes, but it was hard to avoid phrases like that on the web these days. Maybe Akeno just needed a different approach.[break] akeno

Neuro-what? She pondered the word for a few moments. It was probably a word she knew at some point, before she had entered the game, but since the events that unfolded within the virtual walls, she had most certainly lost that bit of knowledge. Catching on to the fact that the topic at hand was her sanity, The Cannibal had that as one of her context clues, at least. Thinking hard was not her most notable of talents.
"I mean, I can think like you can, yeah?" She tried to explain, pointing at his head, then her own. "And when you think real hard, like, ergghh!" She tried to mimic wracking her own brain for knowledge, knocking on either side of her head softly, shutting her eyes tight in a comedic display. "Pop! You get an idea! An answer, you know! You guys go in and save the day!" Akeno's tightly closed knuckles opened as she spoke 'pop', in an animated little explosion that totally should've been granted to her by game developers, but was totally not in her kit of abilities.
"But when I think, like, think really hard." She went on to explain. "Ergghh!" The Cannibal mimicked identically the same from before. "Pop! I get hungry..." A much less decisive and cheerful cry in her tone this time, instead sounding disappointed by the result. "My stomach growls, and I wanna bite, bite, bite! So I run in and I do that!" She clapped her teeth together in harsh little tick tacks, as if the urge was affecting her even as she spoke about it.
Hopefully, it was at least somewhat of an explaination for most of her unexplainable actions. Akeno didn't really know what he was asking or how to answer it, but she'd taken a shot!

"..." Was there even a response to that? Raynauld instinctively moved back when Akeno snapped her teeth, a reaction that was ingrained into him by her antics at this point. But given everything that she had said to this point...[break] Well, it was tragic. Akeno's statements didn't explain anything he couldn't already figure out on his own. Sure, she got hungry any time she tried to have an actual thought in her head. But was that normal for her, or was that the result of some neurological disorder? Everything about Akeno - her words, her actions, and previous interactions with people given things she had said, pointed to her having the mindset of a really young child who either could not know better or could not understand.[break] Could this game seriously change people? Raynauld was uncertain. He quickly dismissed that as a possibility; a videogame overwriting someone's personality traits? What a joke. No, she was definitely some kind of neurotypical off of her medication thanks to this game, someone who probably needed her hand held to cross the street. Or maybe she was mentally deficient.[break] Eventually, it occured to him that he should say something, at least.[break] "I... see... Well, that makes..." Makes what? "Sense enough, I suppose." At the end of the day, if she did her job, that was about all they really needed from Akeno, wasn't it? Anything else would be handled as it arrived.[break] akeno

"Something that I don't understand is!" She exclaimed as she spun slowly while they walked. "If we're all prisoners in here, why are we playing along? And--" The Cannibal's thought was cut off, perhaps by hunger or lack of other words to say, but it seemed like a very abrupt place to end the statement. Especially since the 'and' had been so amplified, to suggest she truly had some deep deduction to have made. But soon enough, she was walking along as if it wasn't a weird end to the sentence at all.
Once upon a time, Akeno had the sanity to investigate such things, perhaps, but this day was long past that time. Far from the capacity of thought needed to search for answers with in a virtual world riddled with questions, there was little chance The Cannibal could discover anything. Unless it was knowledge hand fed to her, of course.
"Blugh, who knows. Game is game. People play." Akeno shrugged her shoulders, repeating softly to herself, "Blop, bloop, bleep." Swinging her arms in a wide arc. "I don't think this is a very fun game. Maybe a pretty game, but not a fun game."

"How philosophical of you," Raynauld responded, "Not that I've a degree in psychology - or graduated high school, for that matter - but I once heard a parable somewhat involving your query. Put simply, people play the game because, and I quote, "the alternative is nothing". A crooked game, a rigged game, that's bad - but it becomes a better option than merely nothing. Someone who actively refuses to participate makes others question why they're playing. I'd rather tolerate a monstrous game than a game that doesn't even want me to play it."[break] That was all well and good, but...[break] "Besides, there is so much we don't know about our present circumstance. If the entire playerbase collectively stood up and said "We refuse", would those in charge merely let us go? Consider the real world, as well; almost certainly the news of this... prison broke public quickly. Imagine the worldwide lawsuits. Those outside are fighting just as we are."[break] At least she was right on one thing: Games were a lot less fun when your life was on the line.[break] akeno

"Bleh..." She tried to mentally analyze the complex ideas being thrown at her. Most of them brushed right off the top, and while she may have had some good thoughts on the subject, putting them into words was more than impossible for the girl with lost sanity. "Lawsuits..." She whispered to herself. A familiar word to The Cannibal, but she couldn't remember from where.
"What 'bout you? Got any neurojabooberators?" A very rough imitation to the phrase used previously by the crusader, but one that could probably be concluded form the beginning. Also, she knocked on the side of her head again as she glanced towards him, hinting even more as to what she was talking about.
"And are you really religious?" Akeno piled on the questions. At least, from her childlike mentality, she had the ability to show recognition and interest in the realities of others. "With all that love ribbon stuff?"

"A what? ... No, I'm normal!" Akeno really just said the first things that came to mind with no filter, didn't she? It really was little wonder that Rex was constantly at his wit's end alongside her. The way he shouted out "normal" seemed almost forceful, but... Maybe it was just a reaction to being shocked by her answer.[break] "And yes, I am religious. I did work for my local church and everything." Raynauld said, an air of superiority attempting to waft its way through the air. He didn't seem like one of those hyper-religious nutbars, but still... "I've been part of the movement since... well, since I was born, I guess."[break] Admittedly, growing up in the heart of the heartland might've contributed to a highly religious upbringing, but it wasn't like he was going to complain about it.[break] "But, it's not like my religion here and my religion there are the same thing." With Akeno, that probably needed to be clarified. "Gods in video games are fictional, after all."[break] akeno

"Maybe not..." She pointed at the virtual sun. "If this game is so realistic, perhaps there is a virtual Jesus chilling up on a cloud." With a mischievous chuckle and glance towards the crusader, Akeno froze, her eyes twitching towards a nearby sand pile. Swiftly pulling out her slingshot, she fired a pebble, the bamboo straining against the sudden tension.
"Hah! Gotcha!" Having been distracted by an actually rather large lizard that had slithered behind the pile, The Cannibal sprinted off, hopping over the pile. With her knife, she skewered the creature with a few, heartless swipes. Turning back, she flipped her hair up and out of her face. The torso of the large lizard hung between her sharp teeth.
"I gawt eet!" The Cannibal grumbled, trying to speak with the lizard still hanging from her maw, dashing back towards her ally, holding top and tail of the creature, as she munched through it. A snack, perhaps. "Ya wanna bite?" The lizard was beginning to fade into pixels, but still, she reached out her hands in an offering motion.
