GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY And here, he thought he'd been so clever slipping into the dojo to get out of the rain. Apparently, it was all a trap. The moment he got himself reprieve from the pelting rain and cold air settled over just how wet his skin felt, he found himself greeted by an old man and a quest screen popped up in front of his face. He frowned. "What, no towels?" Really, there was no hospitality at all in this game, even in a place like this. No, even here in weeb down rude old men took advantage of your need for shelter and slapped you in the face with a ridiculous quest. Well, what was it then? Did he have to travel through the rain now to retrieve some artifact as part of a dumb fetch quest? Was a giant spider about to drop from the ceiling? Maybe three of them! If only, apparently. "Wait, you want me to what?" He frowned, crossing his arms and rubbing them for some warmth. Sure enough, he heard the fly buzzing and closed his eyes tightly. That didn't make any sense. The devs had just found new ways to torture him, that was all. Apparently, dangling death over the heads of the players got old after a while. Fuck this game. 1/9 quest@open to 1 other

初めまして。 catharsis | 1/9 | slides into yer open thred xDDDDD Beat loved the rain. Loved how the wet felt against skin, like small kisses that dripped cool. He drew satisfaction from how his hair flatted against his head. How his shirt clung close to his body as if it hung on desperately against the weather's current. Maybe he just felt sexy—but that was awfully unpoetic, and he thought himself more sentimental than that. But eventually, the time to concede arrived. Beat squeezed the end of his shirt and watched the rain water gush out. Ahead, he saw a weathered dojo in the distance standing proudly through the curtains of rain. Without a second thought, Beat ventured for the landmark; there was bound to be something there. However, someone beat him to the punch. Waving his hand, Beat called out to the figures inside. "Ayyy! Hope you don't mind some company!"With Beat's presence came the calamity of noise. His voice was boisterous and well supported with upbeat breath, and each step pounded with the weight of a built Defender. Entering the dojo, Beat announced his arrival with the wet shake of his head. "Whooey! Damn, I'm wet. Anyone got a towel?"A question repeated. And a fly unheard. MADE BY MINNIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis had been just about to argue with the npc, vile words crawling up his throat when someone else arrived and he had to put on a nicer face. His features softening, though, wasn't part of any plan. He stared blankly at the other player for a moment as the guy shook himself like a dog, eyes shooting to the name above him rather than, well, anything else. Oh. Oh, no. Fuck. It seemed unusually easy to remember. "Beat, huh?" He managed, before the guys question finally sunk in and he sighed before issuing a resigned shrug. "Man, I wish." Before he could even finish, the npc was already moving over to Beat to hand out the quest rather than any kind of hospitality or comfort. Cat glanced around, not even able to see the fly let alone hear it, before he decided he might as well take matters into his own hands, trailing away around the room and trying to see anything that might work as a towl or hold a towel in it while the NPC prattled on to the new arrival. No luck. "Maybe they're part of the quest reward?" He asked hopefully, glancing back at Beat. It wasn't in the quest details, but a man could dream. He wiped a hand down his long sleeve, watching the water slide off of him only to cling to him as it went down, only some of it sliding off onto the floor. Gross. He still didn't see the fly, but then he wasn't really looking for it yet.

初めまして。 catharsis | 2/9 | NP!! The rain played piano on the roof of the dojo. Peace juxtaposed against the rushed bravado of Beat's noise. Inside, the dojo was dark. Calm. Although the wood suffered decoloring, the age exuded by the structure summoned a contemplative quiet. "Yea, that's me." Beat laughed colorfully. "How'd you know?" The question lingered in the air as he paused. While his voice hovered, his bright eyes traveled past the man's reddish hair before meeting the floating username. "Ohhhh, right. Uh, nice meetin' you Catharsis. Cool name. Sounds totally smart, man." His surfer-boy tonation drooled emptiness. At the mention of a quest, Beat quickly filtered through the UI to oversee it. The old man repeated his dialogue naturally and waddled forward to better express his desire. How did that saying go again? You can catch flies with vinegar or whatever? "I fuckin' hope so dude. But not gonna lie, I'm pretty sure I'm workin' this wet look pretty good." Beat cackled and sent Catharsis a party invitation. "Let's catch this little bitch ass fly, yea?"As Beat began his search, he mumbled loudly to verbally annotate the setting. Nope. Not here. There! Oh, nope, that's just a rock. To the careful listener, snippets of buzzing intercepted Beat's clumsy investigation. MADE BY MINNIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Cat blinked when Beat took a moment to realize how he'd known his name handle. It was actually kind of cute, and if he didn't know better he'd go ahead and let his guard down. It was already a struggle not to. He accepted the party invite without hesitating, not really knowing a reason not to accept - especially if it meant the other guy might accidentally complete the quest for both of them. It wasn't like it could be so hard, right? If this was real life, he honestly would have assumed the old man was just pissed a fly had taken shelter in his dojo from the rain. When he caught the comment the guy had made about how he looked, his answer was an absent, "Yeah, you are." The moment he realized what he said, it was hard to keep a straight face in no small part because of the fact that he probably looked like a drowned rat by any comparison. He wasn't terribly worried, leaving it in passing and switching the attention quickly enough when he caught sight of the fly. "Oh, there-" The tall man reached up to clap his hands around the fly, but it was like it just flew away a touch too soon. He stared after it, expression going blank. Frustrating.

初めまして。 catharsis | 3/9 "Heh! Thanks. I was jokin', but y'know, I guess you're your own worst critic." Beat ran his hand through his hair all model-like, raking water from his forest of blond hair. The acceptance of his party invitation dinged pleasantly. Yet, the blond was already preoccupied with searching for their tiny pest. How does one track a fly? Beat was no hunter—but hunters hunted big game, not lowly insects. He heard his friend state his discovery. Beat swiftly turned his attention to him, but only saw the invisible escape of the fly. So close! Or was it? He couldn't tell, but he was unwilling to let Catharis wallow in disappointment. "Don't give up buddy!" Tackling Catharsis as if he were on the rugby field, Beat hoisted Catharsis up by the waist. "We're goin' ham, boys!"He hoped the added height would be advantageous for their targets capture. But he ignored any semblance of dignity, nor did he consult with Patience. However, Beat was convinced this was the way to go about things as the dojo hummed quiet against the rain. GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Well, at least the guy wasn't offended, or worse. That counted for something. Especially considering they were essentially all alone in a dojo in the middle of the forest in the rain. The AI on NPCs might be impressive, but he didn't think for a second they would defend him in the middle of a setting that, with different background music, he might consider horror genre. It was, overall, good luck on Catharsis' part, at least so far. He hadn't expected the man to grab onto him, however. He gave a yelp, his back stiffening for a moment when he was tackled and then hoisted up. The moment he realized he wasn't actually being attacked, he relaxed as he caught on to what the guy was at least trying to do. "Thanks," He managed, scanning the ceiling and air from his higher vantage point. "But, uh, I don't see it anymore."What kind of sick quest was this supposed to be, anyway. He didn't see the point of it at all. He froze when he heard the buzzing again, as if staying very still would help him pinpoint the source of the sound. It was annoying, but it didn't dampen his mood too much. There was something infectious about the defender's high energy state; it was a good thing they weren't fighting anything, really.

初めまして。 catharsis | 4/9 The yelp came as no surprise. Of course! With arms like these, anyone would fear for their life if suddenly grappled-- or perhaps, it was simply the "suddenly" part. Regardless, the strategy was in play. For now, it was up to Catharsis to catch the damn thing. "Ah, that sucks." Beat said. "If only the fly was like, a MOB or something you could taunt." Beat perceived the sudden still. His counterpart became a plank of wood in his arms. As the quiet settled upon them, the buzzing grew louder, cutting through the light rapping of rain. "You hear that too?" Beat said. "It's here." Ominously, his voice trailed off. Then, he saw it. The winged black dot playfully spiraled around the two. Nonchalantly, as if it had no idea it was part of some coded quest, the little bug enjoyed its venture through the wet air. But it needed rest, landing on top of Beat's nose. He dared not move. "Mmff..." Beat said, trying to alert Catharsis of the fly's perch. MADE BY MINNIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Just as Catharsis started to adjust to Beat holding him up, his focus more on the noise of the fly than the arms around him, or his wet clothing providing less of a barrier than he'd like. He laughed at Beat's wish, relaxing a bit more. "If only." He echoed, doing his best to keep an eye out. Unlike Beat, he hadn't caught sight of it, only nodding when asked if he had heard 'it.' Thankfully flies were basically harmless. At least, they were last he checked. It was only when Beat made a noise and he glanced over his shoulder that he realized their predicament. Huh. It had come to them. That seemed uncharacteristically lucky for Cat, and he put a finger to his lips to try to signal to the guy that he should try to stay quiet and still. Slowly, Cat moved to try to angle himself to where he could lower hands down like a cup over beat's nose. At the last minute, the fly seemed to catch on however, and even when Cat tried to speed himself up he was left just ... holding the air above Beat's nose, basically. "Damn it." He hissed just under his breath, lifting his hands back up with a, "Guess I was too slow." He glanced up after it, before tapping on the guy's shoulders. "If it might come to us, maybe you can put me down ...?" He offered.

初めまして。 catharsis | 5/9 His nose screamed for an itch. The intense focus pushed upon the summit of his handsome nose aggravated a ticklish sensitivity, and he could imagine the small feet of the fly dancing on his skin. Catharsis' noble attempt to capture their fly was met with failure, however, leaving Beat with a transient expression of defeat. "Or the fly's too fast." Beat wagged his finger sagely. The tap of his shoulders alerted him to their longer-than-normal union. He laughed, chest heaving grandly against his questing partner. "Oh. Sure, buddy." Beat dramatically let go, offering no helpful grace to the man's descent. Beat's arms remained spread like an eagle's wings as if to snatch Catharsis up once again. He scratched his head, damp blond hair pooling and rustling from the tips of his fingers. "Might come to us, you said?" Beat pondered. "Are ya suggesting we just sit still? This fly's startin' to tick me off. I want a bug zapper. Or a bazooka."Beat scanned the perimeter like a robot with a license to kill. MADE BY MINNIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Cat wasn't sure how it made him feel when the guy just laughed, still holding him. When he was dropped, though, his breath caught in his throat, hands clamping down on Beat's shoulders to lessen the abruptness of his fall as he went straight down, brushing some against the stranger's chest. It kind of worked, or at least his legs didn't hurt from it. That was worth something. He cleared his throat, taking a step back and listening quietly for a moment while Beat voiced his irratation. "Man, me too." He agreed, glancing around. Yeah, no, he'd loss sight of the thing again, even though he could hear it. "I don't ... see a timer for when the rain stops, but I don't think he specified how we caught it. That's hopeful, right?" At least, as far as Cat was concerned, that meant killing the thing was still on the table. That would be satisfying if he was going to be honest. "I just meant, we had better luck when we were standing kind of still than when we were chasing around, though." He clarified with a frown, crossing his arms in front of his chest and ducking his head to lean forward slightly, not quite looking at Beat. Honestly, if there was a specific puzzle behind solving this, he wasn't confident he could puzzle it out on his own. It just read as a lesson in frustration to him and nothing more.

初めまして。 catharsis | 6/9 "Maybe if we don't catch this thing, the rain just won't stop. And we'll flood the fuck outta this place." Beat said, tapping his finger against his full cheek as if he had spoken some sort of sagely aphorism. But a timer would have been helpful. Urgency would've been pressure enough to force a genuine patience. As the old man watched on quietly, Beat sought fun in what seemed so painfully boring. "Lots resting on our shoulders, my dude." Beat breathed in and remained still, letting his arms fall slack by his sides. He looked to Catharsis and smiled a boyish and smug tug at his lips. It was dipped lightly in skepticism, but he was willing to give it a shot. Staying still. Sure. That'll catch a bug. "Should I just stay like this?" Beat asked. "Close my eyes, maybe? Like some deep breathing exercises or some shit?" The dojo seemed to be a place of meditation, anyway. The center of new-age living--- and fly catching. Apparently. GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis raised an eyebrow at Beat's assumption. While it did seem like it had been raining a while, if it kept raining and furthermore flooded the place - first off, it was unlikely the game had been developed that way. Secondly ... Well, as long as they weren't still in the house when it happened. He hadn't seen anyone but NPCs in the place, so it didn't matter to him. Still, it seemed to actually motivate the guy, so Catharsis kept his mouth shut and smiled. "On your shoulders," he corrected, "The fly likes you, remember?" He caught the sarcasm, but until he had a better idea, it seemed they were sticking with it. Of course, if the thing wound up landing on the Empath, he'd have to eat those words. Still, it was better than trying to chase after something that they couldn't pin down. Catharsis was hoping that between the two of them, they had a chance here. "Yeah, just like that," Catharsis said matter of factly, despite the fact that he was the last person who would know if Beat was doing any of it right. It was with practice that he kept his voice smooth and calm. "You're doing great, just keep like that, focus on the soothing sound of the rain, or whatever." Maybe the fly would even resurface, and the room be quiet enough to pinpoint it.
