If my velocity starts to make you sweat then just don't let go he hated the fucking bullshit of the world. a timed loop of quests that ran in circles only drove poor saleos to his very ends. he was unraveling in real time, a hatred for being stuck in the dumb ass game without any inkling of understanding of where he was going. fury built into him as if he was a storm, his emerald tome clutched firmly inside his right hand as he aggressively chose the quest where he could pummel on some NPCs. they were said to be highly dangerous and highly armed, maybe saleos was asking for that sort of death wish but he would need some help before finishing this quest, or at least attempting to. caius, his bird companion, soared through the sky above the market place as a lookout while saleos looked around for someone who might be of use. was there anyone that fit that description? not at fucking all. "You there." his hand points out to a random person, beckoning them over with his incredibly desires for fun and aggression. "You down to help me knock some robbers the fuck out or nah? There's a reward in it for ya." He tried to sweeten the deal, sharing the quest with the person to see the details of what they had to do if they accepted. QUEST: cops and robbers[googlefont=Oswald]

There were a lot of things Theo had sought out to do today. One of which (the very first thing on the list to be exact) was to see out the whereabouts of his friend before it got too late. It wasn’t as though they couldn’t spend time apart but, if he were to be honest, it felt strange to not have Noel by his side. They were better together he thought, especially here in this game. However for right now he was stuck, alone and wandering the path of the market district. His attention was set solely on the screen before his eyes, glancing up in order to avoid any other players in his way. The majority of the people in this game kept to themselves, an interpretation Theo had assumed after some time based on his experience. Or (more likely so) one made from a strange anti-social approach to living his life in this game for however long they were all stuck here.
It was because of it that Theo jumped, ever so slightly in place, when a voice called out to him. His eyes catch the gesture signaling him out of the dwindling crowd before anything else and, while he hopes his expression can show just how confused he is, Theo waits to respond, wondering if maybe the guy before him was mistaken. “Oh,” is all he can really make out after the other man talks up a scheme, showing him the quest and (most importantly) the reward. “Well, that is tempting ... god knows we could all use the money.” The first thought that comes to mind is Noel than, very quickly, how long this quest would take.
He’s about to say no, but the words that come out betray his newly formed instinct to stray away. “You know what, sure.” he started, ignoring whatever danger the quest may have hinted at. If Noel knew what he was about to get into he wouldn’t hear the end of it ; lucky thing he wasn’t here to know. “I’ll help you have some fun.” His finger swipes the air, pulling up a menu before sending a party invite to his partner for the evening. “But, please try to keep me at least a little safe. I’ll do the same for you, that way we both don’t end up getting shot to death playing hero.”

If my velocity starts to make you sweat then just don't let go ”capitalism, m’friend.” he retorted before flashing his usual dim-witted smile. Jason doused his entire life with humor, perhaps that is why it usually ended up in flames. It was a true wonder that how it it’s going so well for him, well was. This was his new reality though, a stark contrast of video game nerds attempting to not kill themselves on pixel swords. Perhaps this was why he needed humor, to stop his mind from entering the gallows. His eyes, wide and alert glancing over at the other player who stood in front of him. ”you ain’t kiddin. Trying to save up enough for a gamble. I hear you can get some boss rewards from the games.” A snippet of information he wanted to see for himself if it was accurate or not. ”who said this was fun? We got our lives on the line, buddy.” With that last line, he accepted the party invite seeing as Caius let out a quick caw before swooping down closer to his companion. ”Caius, my great hornbill, this is.” He takes a moment as the bird claws into the man’s shoulder to look up and inspect what the other’s name was. ”Avarice… I believe, if this fucking interface isn’t lyin to me.” The large exotic bird squawked obnoxiously in typical bird fashion as Caius pointed his beak to where he believed the bank robbers to be. ”Im expecting a pretty insane fight, i’ve heard that this quest has killed a couple of newbies. So… you wanna give me a rundown on what you got in your arsenal?” He asks, clutching his emerald tome of spells and shaking it in his hand a little to expose the vines from within. Jason couldn’t tell what the other was just from standing there but with the man being slightly larger than himself, he expected some sort of melee attacker class but who knew, the other player could just as easy be a healer as well. theo wonders very quickly if he’ll regret his rash decisions this day. his usual attitude for an adventure had altered with each passing hour to day within this game. to the point that what he’d deem as a good time was thought over more than he’d ever do. this man: saleos, the name read. he didn’t seem like a bad guy (but theo guessed they all didn’t at first) and, after the smart comment and flashed smile, theo couldn’t help himself but smile back in that moment. maybe he shouldn’t have used the term ‘fun’ in reference to a possible life or death situation. if he hadn’t the man before him wouldn’t have scolded him as he did, but theo couldn’t help it. “hey, i’m not looking to die either. old habits i guess,” theo riposted, “remember the good old days when video games didn’t trap you inside? those used to be fun.” it was hard enough to think of this new ‘life’ as something more than what it was; a video game.
was he supposed to say hi to the bird? would it have even understood him if he did? questions without answers and an expression stilled by the slight wave of hesitance that rushed over him as saleos introduced caius. after a second theo decides on the best course of action: a small dip of his head in the direction of the hornbill. it wasn’t much, but it was enough of a hello that theo could muster without looking as though he was about to laugh. plus, if strangers on the street could accept it as a greeting then so could a bird made out of ones and zeros.
his hand finds the side of his neck, pressing against it and ever-so slightly dragging his nails against his skin. the comment of new players dying in the quest he had just accepted put theo’s mind on edge, letting loose concerns he quickly tries to push back down. “well,” theo starts, voice trailing for a moment as his eyes focus on the tome in the man's hands. something with magic (an obvious assumption he knows), but to what extent theo couldn’t figure out just yet.
“i’m a support of sorts. what do they call it in this game? utility? i focus mostly on buffs for my teammates ... which gets to be you today.” it dawns on him how little he actually talks about his class given noel is usually his only party member. it felt strange to voice out his abilities; needing to talk himself up in a way he’s not even sure how to do just yet. “i can’t heal you if you get hurt,” his tone is bitter amusement, a short laugh escaping his lips after talking. he almost sounded useless. “but what i can do is give you life steal, along with some other things ... elemental buffs to your attacks.” theo didn’t want to comment on how his class was made to compliment another, or how one of his skills couldn’t even be used without noel here. it’d be too much to explain and not worth the effort. instead theo points towards the tome in saleos’s hand, indicating a small shift in topic. “what about you? i don’t want to assume something and be completely fucked because i guessed wrong. this game has too much crazy shit for me to keep up and guess right.”
