[googlefont=Calibri] [attr="class","cry"] WHY DID THIS GAME HAVE TO HAVE A DESERT!?
Even if she didnt need water or food to survive, this desert was just too harsh! Sure the currently parch nature of her throat wouldn't kill the adventurer, but it sure made things a lot more miserable! Why had she even come out to this stupid place to begin with!? The girl pursed her lips in annoyance as she trudged through the sands. This place was miserable.
Finally, in the distance, Rache saw a glimmer of hope. Buildings. The girl gulped dryly before moving to jog towards the village. Luckily, it wasn't some mirage. If it had been, the girl would have screamed. As she arrived in the village, Rache sighed with relief.
Her brows cocked with interest as people seemed to be running around excitedly. It was a small village... but there were way more people here than the little village should have been able to support. What was going on?
Before she could speak to anyone, a crowd suddenly surrounded her. They all started speaking at once, excited and eager. Rache wasn't sure what was going on. Then, she was being dragged into a larger building by the excited NPCs. As she was being roughly dragged, a quest notification popped up. In her flailing attempts to read it, the girl accidentally pressed "Accept."
Now, Rache sat a large table with a mixture of NPCs and other players with cold sweat dripping down her forehead.
W...what was going on? She had just wanted some water! | |

that was you. Well, it was a way to spend the evening. Cat's parents had always warned him away from gambling, but honestly, that was just motivation to try it at least once. Like with just about everything else they'd told him not to try. The trick was just not getting caught out without backup when the shit inevitably hit the fan. Problem was, it had been a while since Cat had played. Putting on a fake mask was fine and well, and anyone who said they couldn't do that was lying in his book. When a player was sat forcefully down at the table he was sitting at, though, Catharsis jumped in a bit of surprise before slowly raising his eyebrows. She seemed familiar, but, uh ... oh. That one ranger from the Faywood. He decided to pretend not to recognize her unless she brought it up. He figured he hadn't exactly been memorable or anything. "You lost?" He joked, but it was half-hearted. The woman honestly did seem confused. Hopefully she wouldn't ask him to teach her. He wasn't going to fall for that. racheMADE BY ★MEULK

[googlefont=Calibri] [attr="class","cry"] When a familiar voice reached her ears, Rache turned and glanced at him with wide eyes. She looked like a deer caught in car lights. The girl nodded firmly as she held her hands together. ”Yeah! I'm super lost! Where am I? I thought I was just going through the desert, and now I'm here!” she explained before glancing around the table. Cards were being given out- why!?
”Erk! Do you know what this even is?-- Eh!?” Her voice cut off as someone mentioned poker in the distance. Was this Poker? "Eh? This is Poker?" she asked, gulping before looking up at the familiar red head with wide hopeful eyes.
"I remember you! You're the nice red head healer from the spider raid! Erm! Can you help me? I've literally never played a card game in my life- unless Yugioh once in third grade counts. How well does Yugioh translate to poker?" | | [attr="class","weep"]DERP |

that was you. Catharsis stared hard at the girl for a moment, unable to tell if she was trying to pull one over on him or genuinely didn't know what she was doing. Why was she even here if she didn't know how to play. Could someone get the quest rewards anyway if they didn't follow the rules of the game? It'd be interesting to find out, he supposed, as long as she didn't drag him down with her. He couldn't say he was particularly pleased that she recognized him, but at least she'd assumed he was nice one way or the other. A shame she didn't know any better. "Yeah, this is a poker game." He finally answered, still unsure of what to think about the ranger. "And you can't win by playing blue eyes, no." To be totally honest, his own familiarity with the game was limited even if he did want to help her. He knew winning hands, sure, but explaining that? You needed a certain amount of knowledge to be able to explain, and even if his heart had been in the right place he wouldn't have been able to help her. It wasn't. He knocked his knuckles against the wood of the table for a second. "Alright, uh. You're going to be dealt five cards each round, and guess if your hand is better than what anyone else here has." He glanced at his own hand briefly, expression even. "If you aren't confident in what you've been given, it's okay to fold. That's just being smart."There. He'd met his quota of the week for being marginally helpful. rache MADE BY ★MEULK

[googlefont=Calibri] [attr="class","cry"] Her eyes grew wide as he spoke to her and confirmed that this was indeed a poker game. He was so nice! She nodded eagerly as he spoke more, as if expecting words of wisdom. However, all she got was being told Blue Eyes couldnt win this game. Her shoulders deflated as she nodded softly. ”Eh? Really? So there arent any fun or pretty drawings on these cards?” she asked, pursing her lips in disappointment.
When her cards were laid out in front of her, she reached to pick them up. Her eyes widened as she looked them over. ”Eh? These all have colorful drawings on them... but there's no monster description,” she mumbled severely before nodding firmly. She looked over to Catharsis and nodded softly. ”Eh? Alright! I'll do as you said! Er- I'll fold this round then once it starts!” she spoke with a firm nod before turning to look back at the table. | | [attr="class","weep"]DERP |

that was you. He'd been so proud of himself for both doing the nice thing and also getting himself out of the situation of teaching someone how to play a card game. The more he listened to her ramble on, though, the more convinced he was that she really was genuinely too ill informed on how card games worked. He looked at her evenly for a moment, wondering if it was actually possible for someone to be this stupid about poker, but he relented into deciding that it was possible. "You've really never played anything with regular playing cards?" He asked flatly, unsure. Most people at least recognized the king and queen, even if they didn't know how to play for jack shit, right? Probably. Maybe. When her comment about the card having art on it finally sunk in, though, he flinched. For a good, long moment Cat was tempted to go along with it, because a hand that good only hurt him. There was nothing for him to benefit from if she actually learned how to play the game. But what if he was right, and she did know how to play the game. Then she'd just be testing him. On top of the fact that she'd made it clear she recognized him, it'd definitely be the kind of thing that bit him in the ass, over one single quest that he'd get a payout from regardless of how it ended. Inhaling slowly, Cat let out a slow sigh as he set down his cards face down. "So, first, you shouldn't tell people what you're hand is. Everyone at the table tries to figure out if they have a better hand. Second, you should play. I'm folding."If she actually was totally uninformed on how the game worked, he was going to kick himself for this later. rache MADE BY ★MEULK

[googlefont=Calibri] [attr="class","cry"] ”Not really!”
Rache looked over her cards curiously, glancing at them quietly before speaking. ”I usually ran around as a kid. I think the closest I got to cards aside from that one game of yugioh was seeing one in someone's bike spoke to make a motorcycle noise- and when I got to middle school and stuff I just focused on extracurriculars and studies- so I never really had time for this kinda stuff, you know?” she hummed happily while tilting her head in thought.
When Catharsis began to explain things, she nodded softly, listening intently. ”Right... ok! Got it!” she spoke. Her eyes narrowed firmly as she glanced up at the table. Everyone around her seemed to be calling out whether they were folding or not. When it came to her turn, Rache chose to play. As the others lowered to show their hands, Rache did the same.
A royal flush. She had gotten a royal flush.
The other players all gasped as the chips in the center of the table were pushed towards the girl and more cards began to be distributed.
”Did I do good?” she asked, glancing at Catharsis with wide eyes. | | [attr="class","weep"]DERP |

that was you. He almost immediately wanted to kick himself. Still, he at least thought he'd hidden it well enough, leaning back in his chair with a chagrinned smile. "Really? You never even played ERF or something with friends?" This girl had had friends, right? Regardless, it didn't take too much longer for him to have been proven right. Yeah. She had exactly the hand he'd thought. He let a hand run down his face, only glad that her big mouth had tipped him off so that he had a chance to fold out. Not his fault, and it didn't really count as cheating in his book when the information was just dropped into your lap. "Yeah," He sighed as he pointed to the chips. "That's money there. That you just won with your hand." He wasn't really sure what else to say, feeling a pang of physical pain as he looked at all that cash being pushed towards the girl. What kind of dumb luck was that, even? Had she been cheating? "Do you want to keep playing, then?"rache 4/12 MADE BY ★MEULK
