the young woman rubbed the back of her hand against her forehead. the beads of sweat that formed on her skin seemed too realistic to be just a videogame. then again, the girl knew that this was more than just a videogame: this was life. or death, realistically. just one wrong step and your life could be over, in more than just the game. the safest bet in this situation was to just stay in the town of origins and wait for those braver than her to figure out whatever it was they needed to leave this game. that was almost certain safety. aleu knew, though, that there was only so much sitting around she could do before she could no longer handle the anxiety. she knew of the dungeon of origins. many people around the town square spoke of partying up to defeat the bosses that roamed there, but the girl knew that wasn't for her. too dangerous. instead she found something more her pace. a simple quest to find a jewel in the desert, hopefully no fighting involved. it didn't seem like too hard a task to complete. plus, if done correctly, she'd receive rare material for crafting new armor. the better the gear, the better the chance of survival. aleu paced back in forth, the sand sifting through her sandals. not wanting to do this alone, aleu had found two other players that had been willing to join her. as typically of the young woman, she had arrived earlier than her party members. sitting and waiting was all she could do. the girl just hoped that she was safe waiting here until the other arrived.

that was you. Catharsis hadn't really thought this through. Sure, money was important to him. Obviously, it was more important to him than either the people around him or anyone back home. The problem was that it chipped a little into the incentive whenever he remembered that, technically, none of that was real. At the same time, there was only so much time he could spend in Origin town before he started driving even the npcs up a wall. A shame. The only answer had been to go on ahead and pick a job offer, any job offer to get some space. The real problem was that he hadn't read the fine print. A desert was really not his go-to when he wanted to stretch his legs, but he'd already gone to all the effort to agree to it so he might as well commit, really. It didn't mean he had to like it. The bright side, it was unlikely the rest of the party would like it either. He'd probably have a bit to keep him going. Still, when he reached the entrance to only see one person, he frowned down at her. "Please tell me I'm late, and everyone else is already inside." He had no interest in lingering in the heat for someone who had decided to be even slower in getting there than he had. snowlight aleu MADE BY ★MEULK

Having grown up in literally, Iceland, she adapted poorly to any weather outside of the cold. It felt as if her lungs were catching fire from inside and her body, held down by the oppressive rays. aleu didn't know how long she had been waiting. what felt like hours could have been minutes. she couldn't tell with this heat bearing down on her. eventually, the presence of another greeted her with a rather sour question. the girl frowned. she'd been waiting here long before he showed up, but the first words out of his mouth were a complaint. of course she wasn't one to instigate fights, but she couldn't help but feel a little miffed at his words. before she could even answer, the third and final party member arrived with a rude greeting to the only male in the group. aleu didn't even know how to react to either of the members of her party. aleu hoped the heat didn't create anymore tension between the trio. the girl couldn't even tell if it was all in her head or if it was because of the heat, she just wanted to get this job done as quickly as possible. it was a mistake to accept a quest out in the desert. she should have stuck to her safe haven in the town of origins. "should we start searching for the gem?" her voice came out quiet, uncertain. aleu wasn't even sure where to begin with all of this.

that was you. A woman staggered up to him, and he brightened. He could practically feel the ... despair? Discomfort? He failed to name it, and yet there was definite negativity practically radiating from the newcomer like rays of sunlight. The first words out of her mouth were to insult him, and the man grinned. A laughter curled around his words as he replied with a quick, "Oh, I like you." He hadn't even missed a beat. If he was lucky, this would keep up and she'd continue to be this negative. He was rarely ever lucky, but a man could dream. The empath could even feel negativity from the other member. Good signs were all around him. She commented on something about entering the cavern that he had to strain to hear, and he tossed her a bright smile. "So right. Maybe it'll be cooler inside." Without thinking much of it, he wandered inside ahead of them. Not too far ahead, of course. He had no intention of leaving whichever one of them was the fighter behind him in the sand. "Either of you have a clue where we should start?" He called back as he slowed to a pause. If either of them steamrolled ahead he'd follow - especially the rude one, he planned to latch onto her like a leech - but he had no intention of getting stranded without aid in the case of any monsters being up ahead. snowlight aleuMADE BY ★MEULK

Her eyes looked up, however when he had shifted, moving towards the cavern to start the quest. Even with her ears thumping, she could hear his hopeful comment. Snow trudged slowly behind him though, hesitated to enter completely. Snow's eyes wandered over to the other female who was sitting patiently almost sure she had heard her speak. Snow's head cocked to a side though, looked more like it slumped over. Mustering up what little strength she had left, she spoke dryly, " snowlight. me. um, come?" aleu's eyes fluttered shut. did he just say 'i like you' to the woman who insulted him. the girl reopened her eyes to stare blankly. their tasked hadn't even began yet and the heat was already messing with their brains. the girl just wanted to get this quest overwith and head back to the town of origins. the temperature was too much to handle, and it would only get worse if she shifted. as the two started moving towards the ruins, aleu trailed behind slowly. 'snowlight. me' it wasn't exactly coherent, but they lycanthrope could only assume that the woman was introducing herself. speeding up her steps so that she was closer to the girl, she said, "i'm bail-- i mean aleu. i'm aleu." the attacker sometimes found it hard to remember that this wasn't real life. here her name was aleu. she could change into a wolf. she was no longer the plain and boring bailee who didn't know how to do anything besides sit behind a screen. here she could be somebody she wasn't. if she tried hard enough. "there's so much sand, i'm not even sure where to begin." her voice was quiet, but she hoped the two could still here her. lack of confidence didn't fit werewolves very well, but it was all she had at the moment. "i don't even know what the gem we're looking for looks like."

that was you. "My guess is it'll be deeper in the cave, unless we're supposed to actually dig them out of the wall or something." Catharsis chirped as the women finally made their way into the mouth of the cave at a trudging pace. Man, that had taken a while. He was already feeling leagues better from standing around in the shade. He really hoped that wasn't the case unless one of these two had come prepared. They didn't look like they had. After looking between the two of them, he grinned. "So the sooner we get walking, the faster we'll find out, right?" He had to admit to himself, he was growing less confident in his safety in the presence of this attacker. She seemed meek, and he was praying that it was just the heat and that she'd revive soon. "I don't suppose anyone's brought a canary with them." He mused, not really expecting an answer. It was a dark joke if either of them caught on. It was also unlikely the game would be that realistic. Hopefully. If it wasn't realistic, they'd probably just find a cavern lined with pretty gemstones and be able to waltz out with what they could carry. That sounded good, he decided, firmlly ignoring the likelihood of monsters being between that destination and where the small group was now. "To finish up the introductions, I'm Catharsis." He added on as an afterthought while he followed, trying to fill the silence as he kept his eyes peeled. snowlight aleu MADE BY ★MEULK

the girl walked into the cave behind snowlight and catharsis. there was a noticeable change in temperature, yet the lycanthrope still felt like she was dying in this heat. the sooner they got the job over with, the better it would be for all of them. the shade was nice, but she knew that it would only last so long before they were out in the open sun once more. aleu just wanted to get this over with as fast as she could so she could get back to a more comfortable location. the other girl in the group asked her what she thought. aleu knew that this would be a lot easier if she just shape shifted into a wolf, but there was an embarrassment that washed over her at the thought. the girl had yet to show off her class to anyone else in the game. she'd done it a few times herself, but it would be something completely different to do in front of other people, especially people she didn't know very well. if she could get passed the embarrassment, aleu would become an asset to the team. heightened senses could possibly lead them right to where they needed to go. she wasn't ready yet. if it came down to it, she would do it, just not yet. "sounds good, just lead the way." her eyes traveled down to her feet as she spoke. the girl loved the abilities this game allowed her to use, she just wished the game gave her the ability to not be so afraid.

that was you. The first one to arrive out of their party was definitely not feeling okay. He couldn't pinpoint exactly what the emotion was, but for being in a desert she wasn't doing so hot. Good thing it wasn't his job to take care of more than her health. He didn't babysit without getting paid first, and he definitely wasn't about to drop everything to handhold some stranger over feelings they were afflicted with at the moment. Catharsis would leave that to Snow. She seemed like the nice type, if a bit lacking in manners. Nicer than him, anyway, not that the bar was set particularly high. When the attacker spoke, though, he stopped midstep with a harsh tone cutting into his voice. "Wait, what?" He took a half-step back to stare the werewolf in the eye - that is, as long as she didn't try to look away. "Aren't you an attacker? Why are you trying to use me as a meatshield here?" It was too hot for him to mince words over something so ridiculous. Of course. Of course, out of all of the attackers still alive in gargantua, he'd wind up in the party with a wimp. snowlight aleu 4/12 MADE BY ★MEULK

Snow skipped herself ahead, a hand raised high to signal that she was volunteering as tribute. She didn't need to hear their answers since she knew, they were glad someone was going first. " You two should stay here while I scout out the area," she directed with a sweet smile. If anything should occur, it would be easier for her to handle it on her own. She wasn't too sure what the male could do and the girl looked to be too timid for her own good. The archer slipped her bow on over a shoulder and headed straight in. It wasn't long until she couldn't see in front of her, a step sinking into the ground. " Uh oh," she said quietly.
