For once, the day's reading had been the stuff of simplicity itself. The World. That was obvious. The world had completely changed overnight, and Nicaea was stuck in it. Thanks for nothing, cards! A reversed Death was something about...well, the specifics of it all didn't matter. Obviously, it meant undead! And the Chariot meant that Nicaea should be riding into battle! Never mind that the World interpretation of his day had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of it. After a little while, Nicaea had decided on a system of letting his readings handle his itinerary for the day. It was too weird sitting around wondering what to do in this situation, and it helped keep the creeping insanity of it all at bay. Anyway, there was no need to think about all the hard stuff yet. Better to put it off until later, or at least until the first charismatic leader-type person spoke up. That sort of thing was inevitable, right? The undercity had been pretty uncomfortable to traverse. Nicaea was, unfortunately, no Fool, so he was plenty scared of the surroundings. Still, it seemed possible at least to avoid aggroing things if one was careful about it and didn't show any hostility. However, as he approached the Manor area, a thought came to him: Why the hell didn't I bring anyone along? I'm just a supporting-type class! And so he waited near the quest area after sending up a marker, hoping against hope that some other fool would happen to be passing by. Even if they were already in a party, at least he could follow them back to safety after they were done or something. "Stupid inverted Death... Why couldn't it have been something nicer, like the Sun or something?"If i've tagged the wrong person plz tell me lol | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot ENEMY DETECTOR EMPTY |

"Stupid inverted Death... Why couldn't it have been something nicer, like the Sun or something?""Because where's the fun in that?" A light, airy voice rang out from a fair distant above and slightly behind Nicaea. Considering he had appeared to be entirely alone, such a thing most likely didn't do his already rattled nerves any favors. It didn't take long to find the source of the voice, at least. There, nestled high up in the limbs of a tree with black and gray leaves, was a dress-like cloak-clad figure, tail swaying lazily back and forth. He--or she, as most figured based on his choice of fashion and vocal cords--waved half-hearted from his perch, a yawn threatening to crack his face in two. "Doesn't the Death card mean change is coming? Nyao... don't know about inverted, so could be very wrong."Rolling over onto his back, he looked at Nicaea from upside down, not bothering to begin the descent from the tree yet. "Sun is joy and sunshine and rainbows, yeah? Good fortune and great happiness? If you're in this sort of place, that'd be too lame! You need lots of ghosts and spooks to come haunt you."✉ tag -- ( nicaea ) ※ two supports dealing with zombies-- we're gonna have our brains eaten MADE BY ★MEULK

"Hrgh!" Nicaea didn't really scream, but he did make a sort of gurgling noise at the sudden sound. His eyes darted around before finally looking up, seeing...a cat-girl. There were so many retorts he wanted to make, but the situation was dumbfounding enough to silence him for the moment. However, when he had heard the tree-hanger speak, he laughed a bit. "Dang, you're really going all-in on the 'cat girl' theme, aren't you?" Not that that was a bad thing; levity was a far better escape than spiraling into depression, which wasn't really an escape at all. "Anyway," he said, addressing the question as he honestly had no idea how to approach this situation at all, "Inverted death usually means, uh, botching a change or something like that. Like getting a cold shoulder and leaving your fiance at the altar, probably. 'Course, for me it just means zombies today."Going into how drawing the Sun card would have changed his entire day's proceedings was most likely a fruitless task, or at the very least it would've dragged the conversation on in a weird direction. Instead, he asked, "So what brings you out here? I'm just here for the zombies and stuff."fish brain tastes surprisingly like fish | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot ENEMY DETECTOR EMPTY |

Leaving your fiance at the altar? Ouch. People who did they deserved to have the same thing happen to them if they ever tried again. He wouldn't wish that sort of thing on his worst enemy. It cost waaay too much money to ditch someone at that point! ...oh, and the emotional trauma and all, sure, that too. Prior words directed at his cat 'girl' theme were simply met with a smirk, but at the mention of zombies, he rolled off his perch and landed on his feet with a surprising amount of grace. His arms came to rest behind his back, hands clasping together, and he bobbed forward to circle around Nicae with an interested expression. "What a not-so-surprising coincidence. I'm also here for zombies and stuff. No one's crossed my path in awhile, so you'll do just fine. What's your name, handsome?"✉ tag -- ( nicaea ) ※ now I really want sushi. good job >:c (then again I always want sushi) MADE BY ★MEULK

"Are you this nimble in real life, or is that a class skill?" Nicaea asks in his driest tone of voice. "Regardless, I'm, uh, Nicaea." He coughs awkwardly. "Dunno why, but everyone's been introducing themselves with their screen names. Guess it's just how it goes. How about you?" There were, of course, a wealth of reasons why people were going about it in that way, but to Nicaea it did feel a little uncomfortable, since he was himself after all. It seemed they'd be banding together to fight the zombies, so he initiated a party request real quick. "By the way, my class is Fortune Teller. I guess that explains a bit, right?" He didn't ask further, but instead waited to see what this stray cat would offer up. By the looks of it...perhaps a healer? Two supports...well, two support bot lanes had been done in League of L*gends, right? It would be fine. Nicaea began to shuffle his cards, preparing to grant a buff before entering the dungeon. He also lamented not having a better weapon for the hundredth time in recent memory. had sushi today, bwahahaha | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot ENEMY DETECTOR EMPTY |

"That's how it is with most people in games, isn't it? They pick an alias and stick with it, and that's just how it is. With this one, I suppose it makes even more sense." There were some people who preferred to go by their real name, of that he had no doubt. He wasn't one of them. A line needed to be drawn between Elwyn Mallory and Zephyrus, and it offered a comfortable layer that he didn't feel like changing up. "Myself, I chose to walk down the alchemist path. I'm able to assist in combat by using random potions and dealing some AoE damage with my bombs. One of my skills cooks up a pretty nasty one, but my regular attacks are also bombs, so... I usually need to find a good position so I don't accidentally draw more attention to me or those around me, or get one of my teammates caught up in a blast." Thankfully his normal bombs were weak and didn't hurt his allies unless they were the actual target. There were plenty of uses for that at least, such as creating a blast of wind to launch someone, and it took some careful timing to work it out. In the distance, the sound of dull moaning already could be heard. Apparently the welcome party arrived early. Zephyrus bowed, eyes dancing with mirth. "After you, o' hero of fortune."✉ tag -- ( nicaea ) ※ ffff bring me sushi too you jerkface! MADE BY ★MEULK

Nicaea nodded as he listened to... Wait, I didn't get an introduction back! Still, bombs were good. Much less healer-y than he'd been expecting from the outfit. "You got any healing potions you can throw?" he asked offhandedly. He took his deck into his hand, preparing to explain his own abilities, but... "Ugh, I gotta wonder which intern they got to record that..." Even as he snarked, three rotten shamblers were already making their way across the front lawn. With a flick of the wrist, Nicaea sent a metal card flying across to the forehead of the closest one. A previous adventure had already improved his actual throwing skill as a person, but he had a striking suspicion that such things wouldn't really increase his damage output. Some more cards shot out from his hands to strike the other two zombies as he strafed to the left, trying to get them all moving the same way. "I can't really deal that much damage, so I'll leave it to you one they're all together. Also what's your name, dangit!" Nicaea blabbered as he tried to stay away from the zombies, mindful of both their grasp and a potential incoming explosion.that shit will not be edible by the time it reaches you | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot ZOMBIE A ZOMBIE B ZOMBIE C |

"Aww, I can't get away with acting coy and not giving you it? I didn't think you'd be so quick to burst and ask straight out." The catboy sighed dramatically for effect, hanging to the back in order to let they target Nicae. "Zephyrus, at your service. 'Zephy' is also perfectly acceptable. I'll allow no other nick name than that~"Once the three of them were within range--he had already gotten very, very good at telling just by looking for his basic attacks--he pulled a small baseball-sized object out of the leather satchel at his hip. It pulsed with red and orange light twice, then began to sparkle when he hurled it between the three zombies. It exploded the instant it made contact and gave off a burs of smoke that, unfortunately, probably would wash over Nicaea for a moment. The smoke itself had a peculiar sweet scent to it, which wasn't exactly something one would have expected from the rush of it. "Mmm... it seems we've pissed them off a tad more than expected." Moans filled the air; not just from the three aggroed on them, but from all around them. Were reinforcements coming? "Zephy, huh? Actually, I think I'll probably just stick to Zephyrus." There was a solid reason for this: he couldn't stand it if someone began to call him Nikki. Or even worse, Nissy, as was phonetically appropriate. That would have just been horrifying. "In any case, a straightforward approach to life is for the best!"Seeing a projectile come past him at the mobs, Nicaea ducked back a little, bracing himself for a fiery explosion or something. Instead, he coughed and flew back a little more when smoke came out. It didn't seem to be a smokescreen or anything, as the zombies continued to chase towards him. It had a bit of a sweet scent, though. Wait...sweet scent? "Hey, you didn't just increase my aggro or anything with that, did you?!"A fortune teller wearing loose robes did not a tank make, so he began to weave back, not getting too close to Zephyrus. "Hey, what the heck was that? Also, do you have anything more...explode-y?" Beggars couldn't be choosers, but he felt that the situation warranted something with a little extra bang. "Hey, couldn't you get back in that tree or whatever? I can't really lo-URGH" While he was chatting, one of the zombies had suddenly closed the distance and struck out, pixellating a bit of Nicaea's shoulder, prompting a quick rebuttal in the form of a metal card jammed through the skull. The catboy let out a huff, playful annoyance forming on his features. "Increase aggro? Of course not. I just added a little bit of vanilla and sugar to the bombs. Makes them much more interesting, hmhm~ Maybe I should try lavender next time. Oh, or maybe melon and cucumber..." While talking, he danced casually away from Nicaea and the zombie that decided to nom nom on his shoulder. No need for two of them to become potential infected. Anything more explode-y? Hmmm... "Buy me some time. Lure as many of them toward the tree as you can. It'll take roughly two minutes to be ready." That was pretty quick time for such a large synthesis order, especially since he factored in climbing the tree. Not that it seemed to be much of an issue at all with how he moved, though, dashing and darting as gracefully as a-- well, as a cat. Activating impact bomb, he summoned a small cauldron from hyperspace and set off to it. "Hang in there a bit longer! What the heck is this girl doing...? Nicaea found himself flummoxed by the choice in bomb ingredients. However, he reminded himself, his own class was not particularly. He also couldn't help but request, "Maybe some aloe? My skin's been feeling a little dry recently." Back in the real world, this had been a perfectly valid statement, but thankfully it didn't carry over into his in-game avatar. For now, at least. Some of the anime he'd watched had illustrated the sort of bizarre 'mind over matter' sort of thing that could happen in these settings. Not that that matter was particularly important. Trying to focus on not getting hit again, Nicaea gave a quick thumbs-up of assent to Zephyrus's plan before returning his attention to the growing horde. Unfortunately, he didn't really have any special items stocked up for this sort of eventuality. He backed towards the tree carefully, moving slowly until he was about to be surrounded and then sprinting off to the side suddenly to avoid a disastrous end. His arms worked quickly to throw out cards at the enemies closest to him. Good thing these things have infinite ammo in games...An opening in the crowd allowed Nicaea to dash straight back for a moment, which is when he saw the cauldron. "What the heck is that?! You make your bombs in a cauldron? You sure your class isn't witch or something?" Not that the moment was particularly appropriate for comments like that, but his adrenaline spike was causing him to be a little more hyper than usual. it's even the solution to time travel: just time travel to give the past time travel | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot HELP! "A witch would be pretty fun to try! Especially if they have brooms to fly on..." Oh, were class changes a possibility in the game? If so, he'd be all over that in the future. Magical girl sounded equally appealing if he could get away with it. The dress-like cloak he wore already fell pretty high on him; a skirt wouldn't be that much worse. And if it was, well, that's why he liked stockings and knee-high socks so much. "Okay! Clear the area!" What popped out of the cauldron at the end of the synthesis looked like, surprisingly, a giant cake with fuses stuck in it. The shape and size changed often, as did the effect, but the damage output counted the most. Nothing like an AoE bomb to spice things up. As soon as he hurled the bomb at the zombies, the cauldron vanished and he climbed a bit higher to get out of the blast radius. Best case scenario, Nicae would feel just a brush of wind from the explosion at his back. Worst case? He'd probably get knocked over like a flimsy leaf. And the zombies? Well... the better question was, what zombies? The poor things didn't stand a chance. ✉ tag -- ( nicaea ) ※ hyrk, sorry. yesterday was busy day since I got kidnapped by my mom for half of it MADE BY ★MEULK

"Class changing?!" This caught Nicaea's attention long enough for him to get clawed at again. "Ow, dammit!" His health was still high enough, as these were the 'weak but plentiful' sort of mob, but seeing one's health drop was a horrific feeling, like knowing that the date of your death would be a few years earlier than expected. Still, he hoped dearly there was some way to enact a class change. Nicaea had pored over the Fortune Teller skill list and determined that there was simply no way to make a self-sustaining combat-viable build. While pure support was definitely his jam in regular MMOs, a game with one's life on the line required at least a modicum of tankiness or straight damage; debuffs wouldn't get you out of a zombie lair (for instance). As soon as the 'fire in the hole' came in, Nicaea immediately began sprinting towards Zephyrus, albeit at an angle in case the perfumed potion purveyor pelted the payload at his person by accident. Even given the severity of the situation, he couldn't help but let a low groan escape his mouth when he saw the bomb fly through the air. That was, and there was no other way to put it, some Wile E. Coyote shit right there. As a testament to the amount of work that the developers had put into the physics, the resulting explosion was more than enough to blow Nicaea down, causing a very strong burning sensation on his back. "Goddamn devs couldn't have left this shit out?!" he cried out, mostly muffled by the explosion. Eventually, after his brain worked out that the sounds had died down, he got up. Without even looking back, he simply said, "So you're an offense class then, right?"no worries: i time traveled into the future | TAGS: @zephyrus Today's Reading: World, Death Inverted, Chariot EXPLOSION ENDING |

"Nope, not at all~" Lowering himself from the tree once more, Zephyrus grinned wickedly and twitched his tail from side to side. "Utility is my specialty. I'm not exactly versed that well in defense arts, but there are skills I can pick up over time that will help with that as well. Predominantly, as an alchemist I can make a wide variety of temporary potions through some abilities, and can use those bombs offensively. The potions I craft, unfortunately, aren't nearly as good as potions you can do through the actual crafting system, but..."He shrugged, shaking his head. "I played a lot of those Atelier and BokuMono games before trying this out. The idea of foraging for ingredients, doing a bit of farming, and owning a house or shop is a lot more interesting than rushing to the front lines fighting. If I'm going to be here for an uncertain amount of time, I'd rather focus on living and making peace with it all. Other people can go out there and try to save us."Hm. Did that make him a coward? Even if they weren't as good as the system items, having someone that could craft consumables on hand was always a boon. In a way, it was far superior to healing magic; one could store it up and dispense it as needed, and it didn't have to be the caster himself handling the goods. Maybe. Nicaea wasn't sure how alchemy functioned in this game. "I still feel like that was plenty offensive, but I get the idea," he said, wincing and chuckling simultaneously. "So how do healing potions work in this game, y'know? Do you actually have to drink them, or can you video-game it and just crack the glass over your head?" Knowing the devs, they had probably painstakingly simulated the sort of pain one would get from glass shards stuck everywhere, so he wouldn't be having any of that regardless. "In any case, you're a real RP type person, huh?" Nicaea said, spelling out 'ar-pee' as he said it. There were lots of people like that, especially in MMOs. After all, if one wanted to make an impact on the world, there were certainly other ways than being a well-known dungeon clearer. Given the current situation, it wasn't a bad philosophy. "Well, I guess everyone's gotta come out a little if they wanna carry on like that. Need seed money and levels before you can start churning out the good stuff, right?"As they were talking, some of the zombie bits left over began to slowly move together.
