[attr="class","TheHandmaiden05"] [attr="class","TheHandmaiden"] T he Underworld was always the kind of place that creeped Scholar out, especially compared to the rest of this world's locations. While the dark haired girl typically enjoyed horror games and movies out in the real world, being in a real spooky environment like the Underworld wasn't her preferred cup of tea. Especially with the whole if you die here you die for real stipulation hanging over everyone's heads. Thanks to that the fear of ended up like some teen girl in a horror movie and meeting her end in the underworld kept Scholar away. Well kept her away until now that is. Sure it wasn't the best place in the world but if she wanted to get even a little bit stronger to try to survive in this place she'd have to do quests, and of course the one place she didn't really want to go happened to have what seemed like the easiest quest. On paper it might not of been the easiest but in other games that she played she always had just the easiest time ever with escort missions. So it should be the same here then, right? With the idea of running through this quest as quick as possible Scholar accepted the quest from the npcs that she would have to be escorting, before opening up her menu for a moment. Her class was a Utility one and not the physically strongest out of the bunch, she was a bit worried about how much damage she'd be able to put out if the npcs were attacked and to be honest she d didn't think she could protect them all by herself just yet.Coming to the realization that she absolutely needed help with this Scholar would leave her party settings in the game to open, leaving a space for some random person who was also trying to do this quest to show up. ❀ 317 words ❀ Seven❀ @none ❀ hiii toast 1/10 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden02"]学者 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden03"]THE GENETICIST [attr="class","TheHandmaiden01"] [newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar]width:3px;background-color:#d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]width:3px;background-color: #d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #d6d6d6;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden01]width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-top: -98px; background-color: #221152; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #221152;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden02]font:70px times new roman; color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 1); position: relative; z-index: 2; margin-top: 300px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden03]font: 8px calibri; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 1px;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05]width:520px; height: 450px; padding: 10px; background: #f2e9ff; /* Old breakowsers */ background: -moz-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%, #e9fff8 100%); /* FF3.6-15 */background: -webkit-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%,#e9fff8 100%); /* Chrome10-25,Safari5.1-6 */background: linear-gradient(113deg, #f2e9ff 20%,#e9fff8 80%)[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden01]width: 90px; height: 90px; margin-top: -88px; background-color: #ffffff; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #ffffff;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden02]color: #000; opacity: 0.75;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden03]color: #000;[/newclass][googlefont=Open+Sans]

Cecil didn’t like to be away from Maya for too long. If she wasn’t in his sights then how could be protect her from the shit that spawned in the game? She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself but that did not stop him from hovering like he was her mom. It had always been that way from the time they were kids and while he could do a lot back in the real world, he was limited to what he could do here. It was easy to take care of bullies or someone who tried to come at them. Monsters and bosses who could kill them in a few hits? That was too much.
But now he was by himself and he didn’t really know what else to do. Maya had run off somewhere, leaving him behind to try and do something to occupy himself until she got back. He was planning on sitting around and worrying himself to death until she returned but decided against it. He didn’t want to spend the entire day inside only for Maya to come back and scold him. She would know he was moping. She always knew. And so he was out accepting a random quest to join a random party in a place called the Underworld. It sounded like a horrible idea but it beat sitting around all day doing nothing. The Underworld was just as shitty as it sounded and he hoped the quest wouldn’t take that long so he could leave. However, as he walked up to the location and saw the lone girl standing there with an open party invitation, he knew that he wouldn’t get his wish. “I’m guessing you’re going to be the only one here doing this quest?” He glanced at the girl’s name on the party menu and paused as he stared at her class. “Two utilities trying to protect these npcs. Should be fun.” He wasn’t very hopeful at all that they would be able to complete this quest. It was bad enough he didn’t have any attack skills; his main role was just to provide support. But the girl was also a utility which meant they were pretty much screwed unless she had some attack skills on her. If not, they were going to be trying to kill monsters and protect NPCs with their weak basic attacks. “We can provide support while these NPCs get attacked up the ass.”

[attr="class","TheHandmaiden05"] [attr="class","TheHandmaiden"] W aiting around in the underworld wasn't as awful as Scholar had originally assumed it would be. Folding her hands behind her back the dark haired girl leaned back against a tree very carefully. The tree itself seemed to be, well for all intensive purposes, dead. Which wasn't necessarily a problem in its own, Scholar was just worried about some kind of weird slimy creature being on the tree and making contact with it. Accidentally bumping into something gross and slimy and freaking out over it wasn't typically the best way possible to meet new people. For a few moments the dark haired girl just leaned there against the tree, looking around the area as she awaited someone to come help her out. Spending even this little amount of time out here in the underworld had already done a good bit to lessen the worry that she had of being out here, which was a good thing of course! The more at ease and confident she felt the more willing she'd be to fight things when it came down to it. Scholar ended up getting a bit lost in thought as she stood there about how strange it was she already felt a bit more comfortable here, as well as some worry about how well this quest would go down. In fact she was so caught up in thinking that she didn't notice the other utility player join her party or even approach her up until the point that he actually said something. Instantly snapping out of her daydreaming state Scholar shot the other utility player a quick grin, one that at least to her felt genuine. Despite the two of them being utility players Scholar honestly didn't think they'd have any problems at all with this quest this guy seemed kinda tough. Though of course she didn't know that he didn't have any attacking skills available. "We should be okay with just the two of us, even if we have to just keep them healed up the whole time we should be fine! I can do a bit of damage myself but definitely no where near enough to take them all out by myself." With that said she'd reach a hand up idly playing with a strand of her hair as she looked around the area one more time. "I'm ready to go whenever you are though!" ❀ 397 words ❀ Seven ❀ @none ❀ hi again toast 2/10 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden02"]学者 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden03"]THE GENETICIST [attr="class","TheHandmaiden01"] [newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar]width:3px;background-color:#d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]width:3px;background-color: #d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #d6d6d6;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden01]width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-top: -98px; background-color: #221152; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #221152;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden02]font:70px times new roman; color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 1); position: relative; z-index: 2; margin-top: 300px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden03]font: 8px calibri; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 1px;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05]width:520px; height: 450px; padding: 10px; background: #f2e9ff; /* Old breakowsers */ background: -moz-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%, #e9fff8 100%); /* FF3.6-15 */background: -webkit-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%,#e9fff8 100%); /* Chrome10-25,Safari5.1-6 */background: linear-gradient(113deg, #f2e9ff 20%,#e9fff8 80%)[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden01]width: 90px; height: 90px; margin-top: -88px; background-color: #ffffff; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #ffffff;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden02]color: #000; opacity: 0.75;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden03]color: #000;[/newclass][googlefont=Open+Sans]

The girl seemed to have been lost in a daydream when he arrived making it hard for him to have any confidence in what they were about to do. If she had not seen him come up, then how was she supposed to notice monsters popping out at them? While he knew the quest would be doable, it was still going to cause them a huge headache if it became too much for two utilities to handle. She grinned up at him as she tried to convince him that they would be okay. He didn’t really see it but at least one of them had to be confident in what they were doing.
He glanced around at the NPCs who were standing idle until they moved out. He could just leave now and take on another quest, maybe something a lot easier and less annoying than an escort mission. But as he turned back to look at the girl, he was faintly reminded of Maya; her no-worry attitude and confidence even when things could fall into shit. With a quiet sigh, he nodded towards Scholar and waved at her to follow. “We’ll see how this goes I guess. If something goes wrong, we're ditching them. I'd rather fail this quest then risk my life saving some NPC.”
The NPCs started to move, carrying the caskets of their dead friends along with them. It was a slow pace and he knew that this quest was going to go on a lot longer than he originally thought. Slow just meant they were easy targets for monsters. “You would think they would program the AI to at least make them walk a little bit faster.” He kept a steady pace with the NPCs, glancing towards Scholar to see if she was keeping up. It would be hard not to. “I guess it wouldn’t be called an escort mission if they weren’t in a hurry to get out of this place and bury their friends. What made you pick this quest?”

[attr="class","TheHandmaiden05"] [attr="class","TheHandmaiden"] G rinning even wider as the other Utility player agreed to help her out Scholar would lean off of the tree she had been resting against, nodding her head quickly for just a moment before she followed after the other guy. Even with the odds clearly stacked against them based on, well pretty much every factor possible Scholar had literally no doubts at all that they would complete this quest. If the npcs kept moving at a slow pace, which they probably would since caskets were typically kinda heavy, the girl didn't think it would be too much of a problem for the two of them. It was the one benefit of the two of them being Utility players after all. Despite not really knowing how the guy's skills worked Scholar knew that all she had to do was hit some things and build up her charges then she could heal these npcs and Seven willy nilly. "Yeah that makes sense..they are just npcs after all its not like they're real. An actual life is way more important then one of them getting beaten and respawning next time someone tries the quest." The girl said with a sharp nod of her head, completely agreeing with the other utility player about ditching the npcs if things start to go bad. He was completely right after all there was no logical reason to risk your life for some things that only looked real and would come back to life anyway. Chuckling a bit at his last comment she'd nod once again "Yeah you'd think they'd make them walk a little bit faster or something. Oh right! I'm Scholar by the well, or you can just call me Emily whichever is easier." She sort of blurted out once she remembered that she had yet to properly introduce herself to the person so kindly helping her. However once the topic of why she picked this quest exactly came up she'd grow quiet for just a moment before shrugging her shoulders, keeping up her pace with Seven and the slow moving npcs. Though her answer was in all honesty a very plain and simple one. "I'm not sure exactly, it seemed kinda challenging so I figured it would be worth more experience."

As the girl talked, Cecil took the moment to look around the area. As much as he had disregards for his own life, he wasn’t a fan of dying in a shitty place like the Underworld. The only thing it had going for it was the creepy atmosphere and lack of anything lively. Everything else was just a giant swamp with a bunch of nightmarish monsters in it. From the rumors about this place, there were a bunch of supernatural creatures that usually spawned in the area. He was hoping that the NPCs would at least make it to where they were planning to bury their friends before something popped up to attack them. The last thing he wanted to do was fail the quest and then get eaten by whatever was lurking in the swamp.
Scholar introduced herself and cecil simply shrugged, not really caring either way. He would just stick to what he first knew her as rather than trying to switch between names. “You can call me Seven or Cecil if you want. Either works for me.” But as he continued listening to the reason why she chose this quest, he couldn’t help the frown appearing on his face at her reasoning. “Well there was plenty of other quests that were safe in the city? Not that it’s any of my business what you do.” It was then he briefly paused and turned to look at her with accusation clear on his face.
“Did you pick it because of the rumors of vampires and werewolves?” His eyes narrowed at the girl in question. “Hoping some vampire will come and sweep you off your feet? Isn’t that how those stories usually go? Some pale ass twig creeping onto girls and the girl swoons because tall, pale, and creepy gave her some attention?” He remembered in high school how a lot of girls were reading romance novels involving supernatural creatures and swooning over the stories. He didn’t see all the excitement over it since it usually involved turning horrifying creatures into love struck idiots. While it most likely wasn’t the reason why Scholar had chosen the quest, he had met a lot of people crazy enough to do it.

[attr="class","TheHandmaiden05"] [attr="class","TheHandmaiden"] W ith a simple nod of her head Scholar would grin over at Seven, clasping her hands behind her back as she walked along side the man and the npcs. "Cecil it is then!" It felt kinda right to her to call the multicolored haired guy by his actual name instead of his screen name in the game for some reason. It probably had something to do with it being his actual real name and not a name that might of just been picked to fit his class or something. For all she knew his name in the game meant nothing at all to him, or it might of meant a lot. As she pondered over it she'd eventually just blurt out a quick "So..why'd you pick the name Seven? If thats alright to ask." However once his next question about vampires and werewolves were brought up Scholar would audibly gag at the idea of it. Quickly shaking her head no as she looked back over to her new found companion. "Oh god no, not in a million years." The idea of something like that kind of disgusted her, she never really saw the reason why girls liked books, movies and even some shows based off of stuff like that. They were supposed to be scary bloodthirsty monsters not weird perverted a different kind of thirsty monsters. "I honestly figured that the quests in the city would be too easy..not that taking it safe isn't a bad thing or anything like that. Its just that I wanna level up and get stronger so I can make sure I stay safe here. Can't really do that if I keep doing quests that don't give out anything good for experience.." She wasn't exactly sure why she was being so forward with her reasons for taking harder quests with someone she barely knew but yet she rambled it out anyway, ❀ 316 words ❀ Seven ❀ @none ❀ 4/10 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden02"]学者 [attr="class","TheHandmaiden03"]THE GENETICIST [attr="class","TheHandmaiden01"] [newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar]width:3px;background-color:#d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #ffffff;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]width:3px;background-color: #d6d6d6; border: 1px solid #d6d6d6;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden01]width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-top: -98px; background-color: #221152; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #221152;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden02]font:70px times new roman; color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 1); position: relative; z-index: 2; margin-top: 300px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden03]font: 8px calibri; color: #ffffff; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 1px;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05]width:520px; height: 450px; padding: 10px; background: #f2e9ff; /* Old breakowsers */ background: -moz-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%, #e9fff8 100%); /* FF3.6-15 */background: -webkit-linear-gradient(-45deg, #f2e9ff 0%,#e9fff8 100%); /* Chrome10-25,Safari5.1-6 */background: linear-gradient(113deg, #f2e9ff 20%,#e9fff8 80%)[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden01]width: 90px; height: 90px; margin-top: -88px; background-color: #ffffff; position:relative; transform: rotate(45deg); z-index: 1; mix-blend-mode:overlay;outline:2px solid #ffffff;outline-offset:5px; transition: 0.8s;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden02]color: #000; opacity: 0.75;[/newclass][newclass=.TheHandmaiden05:hover .TheHandmaiden03]color: #000;[/newclass][googlefont=Open+Sans]
