"How much longer?" She whined, a memory of past camping trips whirling past her while she floated from side to side around the NPC. He'd promised treasure for accompanying him, but then he'd also promised to take her there on his own personal ship. When she'd followed the guy to the pier, all she saw was a washed up rowboat on the sand of hook's cove. This didn't bode well, not at all, but he'd said it was a lot of treasure.[break][break]
Besides, if he was trying to pull anything over on her she could just float away.[break][break]
"Just a bit longer." The guy insisted, and she pouted and crossed her arms, floating until she was laying flat on her back on the air, long hair falling down until it hung just inches above the lapping waves of the ocean water while she let her legs hang lazily. Apparently, some others had taken the quest, and for some reason the guy had to wait for them to show up instead of just telling them to come back later. She let out a distressed sigh, running the nail of her thumb across her fingertips while she waited. She had to admit, she wasn't sure she'd be much for the company, but it seemed she didn't have much choice.

Mainly painful ones that had led up to some faded scars. Aster was running ragged as she began to race through the area rather clumsily. A hand was gripping firmly at the old strap holding her weapon in place behind her and honestly, she didn't trust it's condition. At the same time, she couldn't afford to slow down; afraid that the NPC would leave her without notice. She knew it was a bad idea to run back to grab a snack before departure. The woman struggled for more air, lungs burning up and legs weak at the knees the longer she kept up her mad dash for the shores. [break][break] " Oh god!" The yell left Aster's lips as she had tripped herself over a small rock, launching herself forward at least five feet into the air. Her arms flailed as she began to fall, tumbling herself across the sandy ground. She groaned, rubbing at the back of her head before standing herself up unsteadily. " Man, talk about rock and roll. Finally, Faust had thought when she heard someone rushing her way, rolling to 'lay' on her stomach just in time to see the girl bite it. She gasped, covering her mouth with her hand but doing nothing to stop, cross-shaped pupils locked onto the fallen figure. "Are you okay?" She asked tentatively even as the girl managed to get back up. It was a stupid question, but she was willing to own that; it had always been reflexive for her anyway.[break][break]
When the girl spoke, Faust smiled and rested her chin on the palms of both of her hands, claws turned inward. She decided, very quickly, that she liked the way this girl talked. "Thanks," she chimed when the woman complimented her horns. She was, after all, very proud of them. Letting her eyes flick over the woman, she returned the compliment quickly. "I really love your hair. Is it like that outside?" From the color to the style, she really liked it. She'd never really been inclined to give a compliment when she didn't feel like it, at least, not when she already had everything she wanted.[break][break]
"Is that true?" Faust asked, a bit worried. "I didn't know to try them." Before she could consider it, though, the washed out pirate was yelling at her and the other player to get in the dinky rowboat and get ready to find that treasure. Oh, right. That was why she was here. She frowned. "Can I just float along with you?" She asked, glancing at the wooden plank that served as a seat. It didn't look comfortable. Or clean.[break][break]
The man stopped abruptly in his work of readying the boat for take off, staring sternly at her. Even with no words spoken, the message was clear and Faust sank down some in the air. Either sit down, or they wouldn't move. Puffing her cheeks for a moment in a pout, the Asmodeus slumped into a seat with enough force to rock it, crossing her arms as the spade of her tail hit the wooden floor of the boat with a thunk.

" Whoa..." she whispered in awe, smiling even brighter at the Asmodeus' appearance. It drew her in to the point that she had nearly forgotten to reply back to the woman's question. " Oh, uh, yeah! Sure is," she answered quickly, " not my natural hair color, but I've dyed it so many times that it might as well be aha... oh, shoot." The rockstar's head turned towards the source of the shouts and with a shrug, pointed it out. [break][break] " That's our cue." [break][break] Aster hustled herself over to the rowboat without complaints, unloading her bass into it first as she carefully stepped onto it. The boat swayed under her almost throwing her off balance. She settled herself down on one end, holding onto the sides to stabilize the rocking. " Phew, sorry. What were you saying?" Her head tilted up at the floating figure, eyes widening and if it weren't for the fact that she was on a questionable rowboat, she would've stood up out of her seat. " You can float!?" She yelled out in disbelief, waving a hand under the demon to check for fake wires and the likes -- nothing. Aster's mouth dropped as she struggled for words. [break][break] " That's so sick!" she finally exclaimed with excitement. " I wish I could do something that cool." The attacker pouted playfully as her eyes followed her floating companion with admiration. " Oh, right. I think you said you've never tried these before, yeah?" She turned away, hand swiping at her inventory to pull out her latest purchase. " Da, da, da! A danish!" Aster announced proudly, waving the elusive pastry up for the two others to see. Faust decided, very easily, that she liked the enthusiasm of the other player. It made her feel calm. The Asmodeus grinned, bathing in the positivity wafting from the pink haired girl and deciding that she liked this. This quest was going to be fun. It didn't hurt when the girl was so taken back by the fact that she could float. "It is pretty fun," She sighed even as she relented to the pirate's insistence and sank into her seat next to the girl.[break][break]
She was forced to uncross her arms and cease her pouting when the girl pulled out a danish, blue eyes shining when the girl offered to break it in half and share. "What, you mean it?" She asked, surprised. It seemed like a pretty big deal if the girl was willing to nearly miss the boat ride for it, so Faust grinned, starting to hold out her hand. Just as quickly though, she frowned and withdrew the outstretched hand, tapping an index finger to her lips even as the pirate began to row the boat. "I don't have anything to give you in return, though." She said, casting a worried glance in the girl's direction. "Unless there's something you want?"

She held out the pastry again, eyes staring at the woman next to her. She nodded, she was sure. " S'cool, you don't have to give me anything. Food tastes a lot better if you share it with someone anyways." Aster flashed a smile, urging the demon to take it. It was so weird to her; any one would gladly take free food but this person. Holding up her half, Aster prepared to take another bite just stopping once she heard Faust's words leave her lips. [break][break] Aster's head tilted to the side, clearly confused, but didn't question her companion. " You really don't have to give me anything, but if you wanna then...be my friend." The female perked up, head nodding enthusiastically. " Yeah, be my friend!" That was good enough for her and honestly, it was something that she had been wanting. She had been stuck in the game so long and still, hadn't managed to make any friends. It was getting lonely just doing missions on her own while everyone else had their own group of friends. At one point, she almost considered joining a guild only to chicken out while she browsed through them. Since starting the game, Faust had met more and more people who did things without wanting anything in return. Each and every time, it struck the Asmodeus with culture shock. Nothing had ever been free in her life, even if a price tag hadn't been attached. It was possible the girl might never understand just how much it meant to Faust, with how genuine she seemed. The moment she was asked for nothing but to be the girl's friend, Faust knew she had to protect this one. Her shoulders relaxed, her defenses gone as she broke into a grin. She'd been here for so long, and for whatever reason, no one had actually wanted to call her a friend in all her time in this game. It had been so - well, it hadn't been fun.[break][break]
"It's a deal." She announced proudly, holding out her hand again. "We're friends. Aster, you can call me Faust." The pirate was still rowing away, having yet to reach their destination. The Asmodeus paused as she glanced back towards the shore, surprised with how fast they were going on such a small boat; she could barely see but a thin line in the distance from where the shoreline had been.[break][break]
Still, she didn't see anything around them just yet, so they weren't nearly there yet. There was plenty of time to enjoy the treat with her newfound friend.

Faust grinned, taking her piece of the danish and nibbling on it, taking small, careful bites. Glancing at the way Aster ate, she took a few larger bites, although she was still mindful, savoring the flavor and texture. Something about the salt in the air really did add to the experience, she decided, although she wouldn't quite be able to verbalize what that experience was. Aster had been right to get one here in Hooke's Cove before they'd headed out. She blinked at the girl's burst of knowledge, surprised but not unpleasantly so. [break][break]
Food and music; those were good things. It was nice to see someone who wasn't reserved or defensive about what they liked. Faust found herself smiling, even though she would probably be considered a casual consumer of both. She had never done any deep studying of either that she hadn't been forced to, after all. Glancing back over her shoulder, she eyed the small island. It did seem strange that the man would need the help of players to find treasure in such a small place. But! There was no time to think too long about that![break][break]
After all, Aster had asked a very important question, and the eyes of the Asmodeus had already lit up to lock onto the Rockstar.[break][break]
"I love goats!" She said. Not animals, no. Specifically, Faust loved goats. "Have you ever seen them? I just love their eyes, you know? And the way their tails wag when they're having fun! Did you know they could climb trees?" Faust didn't know a lot of facts, but Aster seemed like the type of person who would be impressed by the few that Faust did know.

How long had it been since she had last seen a goat? She was sure that she had probably petted one as a child; outside of that, she had no experience with the creatures. The other woman actually listened to her, and if Asterisk judged her for her interest, Faust couldn't tell. She did pause, perplexed when the woman questioned how goats were able to climb trees. It was a good question, but she had no way of looking it up. "I actually don't know," she admitted freely, "But I wish I did." When the woman told Faust that she was reminded of a goat by her eyes, the demon just glowed with pride. "I think that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me since I've started playing this game."[break][break]

When Aster admitted that she hadn't seen a goat and couldn't really visualize, Faust fell into thought, a finger to her lips. This was a very important problem, moreso than the fact that they were drawing near to the island in question. The quest, and even the money, was in the back of her mind now that the subject of goats had come up. With a small gasp of excitement, Faust grinned, "I know! Without any hesitation, the Asmodeus opened up her inventory, summoning up her sand goat into the bottom of the boat. "It's not a real goat like I'd like to show you, but it's the best I've been able to get so far!" Even with her humble words, Faust was practically preening with pride.[break][break]
The little golden goat lowered its head, headbutting the new acquaintance in the shins and abruptly collapsing into a pile of sand. Faust blinked, the tips of her fingers covering her mouth. "It didn't hurt you, did it?" She asked, worried.[break][break]

Aster sat up straight the moment Faust began to do...things. She wasn't sure what, but it interested her nonetheless. Aster waited patiently for the results, recognizing that whatever it was, it was coming from her inventory. There was a brief flash of light by her feet when Faust had finished, summoning up a creature of pure sand -- a sand goat. [break][break] Aster held up a hand to her mouth, gasping at the small creature shaped like a goat. The details were impressive and really, she was intrigued by the strange pet. She didn't move away when the goat had approached her, head lowering as it headbutted her leg, bouncing off of it. " It's cute--" Her words were instantly cut off in horror, mouth gaping. She whipped from Faust over to the pile of sand with a small shriek, tearing up at the sight. " Shit, I-I-I'm so sorry. Oh my god. I killed it." She knew that she could be a fuck up, but not like this and so soon after befriending her only friend. The demon clapped her hands together. It was so nice getting to see the goat be appreciated by someone else. She would like to have one that she could actually pet one day, but in the meantime, it was always fun to hang out with the sand goat. Honestly, it never crossed her mind what else to make. If she learned anyone had made something other than a goat with the sand from Satesh's defeat, she'd be left a very confused demon.[break][break]
Everything had been going just fine until the goat collapsed into a pile of sand, elliciting a distressed response from her new friend. For a moment, Faust was alarmed, thinking her pet really must have hurt her. "O-oh!" She started, but when the girl apologized she was left confused for about half a minute longer than she should have been. Thankfully, there weren't many different ways to interpret I killed it. She reached out to the girl, not quite touching her, uncertain about what to do but finally place a hand on her shoulder. "No, no, it's okay-"[break][break]
When the goat reformed and shook itself, sand flying before reforming again while its long ears flopped from side to side, Faust beamed and rolled her wrist as if presenting the goat. "Ta-da! He does this all the time!" She announced as if that would make it all better. After all, she really was hoping it would. "Are you okay?" She asked again, not noticing that the boat was starting to drag on the sand floor as they neared the shore. When the pirate got out of the boat to start dragging it up, Faust continued to sit where she was, her focus on Aster.

She'd done something right, given that Aster wasn't crying, and Faust was able to breathe a sigh of relief. When Aster was smiling again, she knew she'd done a good thing in sharing the sand goat with her. When her friend hopped out of the boat, Faust relented on the idea of letting the pirate drag the boat all the way to shore with her in it, nodding slowly. "Sure, that sounds like fun!" [break][break]
Leaning over, the Asmodeus gathered the sand goat into her arms, the creature immediately crumbling away into an armful of sand while she floated up out of the boat and towards the shore. The moment she was safely on land, she dropped it with a laugh, watching it mix and then separate just as quickly while the sand goat reform. It was a little sad to not be able to actually pet the only goat she had here, but what could she do?[break][break]
Faust floated a bit higher, spinning slowly to get a bird's eye view with one hand serving as a visor to shield her eyes from the sun while she looked. "I don't see any real clues ..." She said, a little confused right up until the pirate pulled some shovels out from the bottom of the boat and threw them on the ground. She immediately frowned. "No, thank you. I don't want to do that." She said slowly to the NPC, hoping he would understand. She didn't come here to do work, she'd come to find treasure.
