'cause tonight's the night the world begins again After doing the assassin bounty with Raynauld, Naomi decided to start looking more into these wanted posters to see if she could get any more out of killing them. Lately her luck with quests have been going well, and she hoped that the trend would continue. She picked out the other new bounty that recently came up, tasking them to hunt down a demon. Having made her plan, she waited for anyone in the area who would be interested to do the quest with her. There was no way she was doing it alone. So she sat down in the area near where she heard the creature would spawn and waited. Eventually she found someone else looking for a group and brightened when she recognized the name. A healer would definitely be helpful in this quest. But then that meant she was going to have to be the one on the frontlines again. Naomi sighed, crossing her arms and pursing her lips in thought for a few moments. Then with another resigned sigh, she notified Catharsis that she was interested in grouping up again. The other man was dependable, and though the two of them weren't the best fighters they managed well enough with the mage. They could figure something out with Kuchiku-kan as well, if they really put their minds into it. catharsis quest details

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Here he'd been, thinking healers were something most people actually wanted to have around, and he'd been left to wait for like, an entire hour looking for a group for this bounty. Catharsis had been just about to give up and go find something else to earn money doing when he found himself getting an actual message from someone he recognized for the first time in a while. Well, someone he recognized and didn't feel like bolting at the sight of, at least. He actually cracked a smile, knowing it wasn't technically his ideal party setup but also knowing Papilion as a solid party member. He wasn't sure exactly what it was she might want from him yet, but she'd taken care of him in the last quest when things got heated and unless things were too different when he saw her, he'd be about as close as he could get to trusting her to do the same this time around, too. After all, what was that saying? Better the devil you know? He accepted the invite, shooting her a quick message about being glad to see her again, and asking if she had any defenders on hand. It was, at the very least, worth a shot. Even if she didn't, they'd just have to figure something out. She seemed smart enough so far that he wasn't worried. Better yet, he'd gotten a weapon upgrade since then. Even as a utility, that had to count for something. He was waiting on the border of the clearing, watching the bounty from a safe enough distance and waiting for her to show up. He had to say, he wasn't all that happy with the look of an oversized, fire-breathing monster. A strategy before charging in would definitely be on the menu.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi smiled as she read his response, and replied that she was glad to have bumped into him as well. Sadly, she didn't have anyone else with her, since she'd just started looking for someone to team up with for the bounty. A defender or an attacker would've made all the difference, yes. But she was all alone, and though they could wait for someone else to appear it might take even longer. They agreed on a meeting place, and she figured that heading to where Catharsis was would be easier - and was actually closer to Kuchiku-kan. Flying as quickly as she could, she spotted the red haired man waiting for her just outside the area and approached him with a soft and silent landing. "It's good to see you again Catharsis!" she greeted cheerfully. Glancing past him towards the battlefield, she frowned as she spotted the large demon standing right there. Still unaware of them, but she knew the moment he caught a whiff of them that things were going to get messy. "What do you think? We might have a chance with just the two of us, but I don't know how well my abilities will work on him." She had to count on the enemies' vulnerability to status effects. In her experience, most stronger bosses were unaffected by sleep or paralysis. It would be too easy otherwise. "Our previous plan with the mage might not work so well on this one."catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It was a shame she didn't have any defenders or attackers on hand, but such was his luck. He'd honestly been expecting that exact answer. When she called out to him, he jumped, tensing and starting to raise an arm as he turned towards her before recognition kicked in and he relaxed, turning the arm to raise it in a wave instead of a defensive motion. He hadn't heard her coming, but that was the perk that came with wings, he supposed. "That was fast," He said, amusement laced into his tone, "It's good to see you again, too, Papilion." He followed her gaze over to the monster and glanced back at her. Ah, well, it did sound too good to be true. If her abilities wouldn't work on him, though, they'd just have to make do some other way. "I have a weapon with a bit more distance. Between that and my barrier, I guess we could struggle through if you think you can attack him well enough from behind?" Working with Ghost as much as he did, he was resigned to at least volunteer the idea. There was a lot of risk involved, but Papilion was smart enough he didn't feel the need to say that out loud. Hopefully, she'd have a better plan. He looked at her, waiting for her verdict.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again At his suggestion, she nodded. "Yeah. I can fight him in the air. Just nick him in random places while I keep flying around him." It was the best she could do when actually fighting. Times like these, she realized she really should invest on a long-ranged weapon or a long-ranged attack when she had the opportunity. The plan didn't sit well with her. She guessed Catharsis would probably feel the same way. Attacking him in tiny bits was slow and risky. As long as they were still attacking it, they could make a mistake that would endanger their lives. Worse, if the creature could actually heal itself up then this battle was pretty much over for them. She'd probably suggest running to Catharsis if it ever came to that. "What about attacking him using the environment?" She glanced back at the clearing, trying to look for anything they could use. "If we can pull him to a cluster of trees, or maybe off a cliff, that would be a load off our shoulders." Maybe they could instantly kill it in one blow that way. catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis' shoulders relaxed just enough to be visible when Papilion offered an alternative plan, nodding once as he glanced up ahead. "See, that would be the smart thing to do." He trailed his gaze after hers, uncertain of what exactly it was they could use. His knowledge when it came to Izanami was limited, and basically all he knew about it was ... "I guess if all else fails we can try to use the lake." He said, half-hearted. If the demon breathed fire, there was a chance that could hinder it somehow, but it was honestly just a chance. Every time he thought he understood the game mechanics at play in BWO, it was as if it went out of its way to prove otherwise to him. Fall damage, now that was something that was tried and true. He blinked, glancing at a ways back towards the town and pointing at it. "It's not as sharp a drop as I'd hope, but it might do some decent damage if we can just lead him there. Give us a head start, at least?" It was, really, exactly as he described. Catharsis wasn't even sure if it deserved the title of a cliff, but he knew from experience it'd be enough to give a hefty bit of fall damage without intervention. He glanced over, noticing the thing was inching closer. If they waited too much longer, they probably wouldn't have the advantage of starting the fight themselves anymore, but ... Rushing in when he didn't have to also seemed like a bad idea. He glanced at Papilion, shifting his weight. "What do you think?"

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Her eyes lit up when Catharsis suggested a lake. "Oh that could work too." If the lake was big enough that the creature would drown in it maybe. If it didn't die instantly then any fire-based attacks it tried to use would be useless at the very least. Or that was the hope. It was a possibility, but Catharsis seemed more inclined with the idea of making Kuchiku-kan fall. She glanced in the direction he pointed at and nodded. "It'll be fine even if he doesn't die immediately. That damage would be a big help for us." At this point she was more than willing to try out anything to make it easier on them. "We can both do the distracting then." Looking back at Catharsis, she grinned as she floated up and fluttered her wings rapidly to scatter butterfly wings on him. A second later, he'd feel the sensation of levitating along with her. "That lasts for as long as you don't touch anything. Or land on the ground. Or if I don't land on the ground. Otherwise you can fly around as much as you want," she explained. With the two of them distracting the monster, there was a higher chance of it not noticing their intentions. "I'm ready to go if you are." Once he agreed, she'd take the lead, flying into range and visual sight first. Catharsis might need to get used to flying first, so she was going to go ahead and start leading the monster away if she could. As soon as she was spotted, Kuchiku-kan let out a roar that shook the ground and the trees around him. Then he began to charge towards her, swinging his club wildly. catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY It was still a gamble, but not nearly as much of one as he had worried about. What Catharsis hadn't been expecting was the fairy dust to hit him and make him fly. Float? It was useful - or would be, once he got the handle of it. Cat was cautious about testing what he could and couldn't do, which made it distracting to veer to the side while listening to her instructions as best as he could. It was a smart idea, he just wished he'd had some kind of heads up. Or time to practice. It wasn't like they had all day, though, so he wasn't really given much choice. As soon as he was sure he wasn't going to fly himself straight into the dirt - or worse, the bounty boss - he shrugged. Better to start now than later, after all. Papilion took the initiative, which bought him a bit more time to grow accustomed to the whole flying thing. It seemed like it could be useful, once he got a hang of it. From the sound of it, it seemed like if either of them got hit, he'd lose it anyway. Fair enough. They'd just need to be quick. Still, he didn't leave her waiting long, darting towards the cliff but not before casting a schadenfreude on the demon to at least give himself a chance of drawing the beast's aggro from her. Problem was, for such a big guy, this thing was faster than he'd expect when he broke into a charge. Yeah, this wasn't going to be easy.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again The demon's target suddenly switched to Catharsis as she spotted him catching up to them. It must be an ability he used, since the creature had been looking at her this whole time when it happened. Naomi stopped and flew just as fast as Kuchiku-kan was, right towards Catharsis. Just as it was pulling its club over its head, she appeared right in front of Catharsis, flashing her wings wide open in its direction. It paused, just for a brief moment, but enough for Naomi to grab Catharsis and pull him out of reach just as the blunt weapon zoomed past them. "That was supposed to last longer," she grumbled. Glancing over her shoulder, she watched the demon immediately shrug off the effect and give chase. Urging Catharsis forward, she fell back a bit to confront it and use Poison Kiss, blowing a cloud of poison at its face. Fortunately it couldn't stop, nor did it think to avoid breathing it in. Though it was barely noticeable, its health began to decrease in small amounts. She continued to fly away, easily moving in parallel to the healer, but not close enough for the demon to get them both at the same time. "Not long now right?" she tried to confirm with Catharsis. Behind them, the angry demon opened its mouth and breathed out flames in their direction. catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis hadn't been expecting the save from Papilion when the demon took a swing at him. He'd been prepared to throw up his barrier; it'd slow the monster down, but keep them ultimately safe. When he didn't have to do that, he was a bit stunned mentally, instinct taking over to keep him moving. Every time someone reached out to help him, he was left confused, but of course, Papilion didn't want to have to finish the bounty without him. That much made sense to him, and he was able to set it aside at least for now. It seemed as though Papilion was right about the effects of her abilities not lasting as long on the mini-boss, but it was better than nothing. He could hardly believe it as he started to see the edge of the cliff come into view. "Yeah," He replied, "We've almost made it-" Just as soon as he'd said as much, a rush of rise in temperature that licked at the back of his neck. Well, shit. The flames licked at his heels, and he could feel it starting to singe the the edges where it threatened to catch up to him. Instinctively, he brought up an opaque auric barrier, not glancing back as it cut off and then ate most of the heat for them. After that, it didn't last more than two strokes of the beast's club, and the thing was after them all over again. Cat slowed only once he was hovering over the edge, panting as he turned to face the approaching monster as well as to check and make sure Papilion had made it as far as he had. The lake didn't sound like a bad idea anymore.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again Naomi glanced over her shoulder, eyes wide in panic at the approaching flames. She grabbed the edge of her cloak, ready to wrap it around herself in protection, but Catharsis used his own ability to bring up a barrier against it. A sigh of relief escaped her as she watched the demon slow down briefly to break the shield first. The two continued flying ahead towards the cliff and stopped right over it. Behind them, the demon was still running like a mad bull, growing angrier at the fact that it kept failing to hit either one of them. "Here it comes..."Every muscle in her body was tense as she waited for it to get within reach. They had to make sure it kept coming after them, and never realized where it was about to run towards. Her body trembled as the demon grew larger and larger in her sights, looming over her diminutive form. Slowly she kept backing up, then hurriedly darted away when it swung its club in their direction. But this was the last step they needed for it to fall. Feeling nothing but air beneath its foot, Kuchiku-kan flailed wildly as it tried to regain its balance. Failing, its entire body began to stumble forward and crash on the ground below. Cloud of dust rose up, and a couple of trees and small rocks below were crushed by the creature. "It worked!" She turned to Catharsis, grinning excitedly. "We better take advantage of this while we still can." Diving downwards, she took out her dagger and began slicing and stabbing its back. catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Catharsis was tense when they'd nearly made it, hovering over the edge as he watched Naomi take the demon's attention in full. If she got hit, he would fall right along with her, but he saw what she was going for. Regardless, there was no point in arguing with her about it while it unfolded, so he just drifted back and watched as the giant swung and missed. He was relieved to see it, but suspicion followed shortly after. Luck never lasted all that long. Not for him, anyway. The monster was falling, and Catharsis was already equipping his spear, adjusting to the light weight in his hand as he glanced down at it. Papilion dove in for the attack, and he agreed, throwing the spear down towards the monster's face once he was sure he wouldn't hurt Papilion with the throw. There was no friendly fire, so she'd take no actual damage, but it would still be unpleasant if he hit her. As he watched the spear sail through the air to sink into the monster's back, he followed her down to meet the creature, reaching out to grab the spear when it materialized again into his hand. He could see how far the monster's health bar had dropped from the fall. She was right; if they took advantage now, it wouldn't be long. He cast a schadenfreude as he came into range, stabbing at the giant red monster as it rose up, having clearly recovered by now. This was where it would all count. Cat drew back until he was just in the range his spear needed to strike without being thrown, but the monster would still probably be able to reach him with its attacks if he wasn't on his toes. Well, figuratively. "This is it, I think." He remarked, feeling that telling Papilion to be careful would probably be considered redundant.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again While stabbing repeatedly, she sensed Catharsis following after her and nodded. Whatever it took to quickly lower its health they had to do it now in this brief moment of opportunity. Unfortunately, they weren't going to have the advantage for long, as the demon eventually got up to its feet. She flew back the same way Catharsis did, just in time to dodge the club that swung in her direction. The wind pressure from the force of that attack sent her spinning in the air in helpless control, but she managed to right herself again within seconds. "We're ending this here!" Naomi agreed as she gripped the dagger in her hand tightly. Her heart went up to her throat as she flew around it, aiming for its back. With her attacking from behind and Catharsis attacking from the front, The demon would be forced to choose one target between them. She flew in close to it, gritting her teeth as she thrust the dagger between its shoulders and dragged it down. Whether it had been her attack or Catharsis', Kuchiku-kan's health finally dropped to zero. Its body swayed from side to side, then began to fall as its eyes rolled up into the back of its head. Seeing the large body about to come down on her, Naomi pulled her dagger from its body and flew out of the way. For the second time, the big demon crashed to the ground with a loud crack, but this time it didn't get back up. She flew up to where Catharsis was, eyes wide in disbelief and still breathing heavily from the rush of adrenaline. "I can't believe we actually did it!"catharsis

GIVE ME ALL YOUR ENERGY LOVE ME LIKE AN ENEMY Once the monster got back to his feet, everything happened pretty quickly. Papilion darted behind the monster, and Catharsis could only assume that she was giving it her all while he kept the demon occupied. He even thought he'd been doing well, trading in hits as well as he could with reeling back to dodge the worst of the monster's hits. No amount of luck lasted forever, however, and the kuchikukan finally landed a hit into his side, knocking the air out of him while he was tossed some by the blow. He watched his health bar drop out of the green and keep falling, and cast compassionate bond on himself. The burst of healing didn't restore all of it, but enough that he wasn't as worried as he maybe should have been. After all, all he had to do was not get hit again. Looking up at the red health bar at the best, that seemed easy enough. He cast another schadenfreude, and the damage done restored some of his health and whittling away at the critical health of the bounty at the same time. When the beast breathed in, preparing to exhale fire as far as Cat could tell, he winced back - just before the monster began to fall backward towards Papilion. Catharsis didn't start breathing again until he saw the thing actually break into pixels, running a hand lazily back through his hair. "That went better than I'd expected, to be honest." He agreed. They'd done well twice now, but he didn't want to push their luck if they didn't have to. Hopefully next time, if there was a next time, one of them would have a defender on call. Speaking of. "By the way, I was so glad to get out of there last time I didn't send you a friend request." He said with a smile, doing so now that they had the moment to breathe and celebrate. "I mean, if you don't mind. If you ever need a healer, you can just shoot me a message this way." It wasn't really an offer he extended to everyone.

'cause tonight's the night the world begins again When she looked Catharsis over, inspecting his current condition, she winced at how low his health was. Part of her felt guilty for choosing to split up and not give him any buff before that. Fortunately for the both of them, no one died and everything worked out pretty well. Now that the fighting was over, she wasn't as worried about things since he probably had ways of restoring his health again. Nothing else was in the area, probably scared off by Kuchiku-kan. And since he was down, they both got a moment's bit of rest and safety. As he spoke about adding each other as friends, Naomi grinned as she opened her own interface to send him a request first. "Of course! I don't mind at all. You're a pretty good healer to team up with." The fact that two not-particularly strong players were able to defeat a demon by themselves spoke volumes of their capability. After everything was set up and she could see his name on her list, she smiled back at him. "There. And if you need someone to help you out, you can message me too!" She enjoyed working with someone who tried to think out of the box, rather than just charging straight on into battle. It probably took longer to accomplish things, but it was more challenging and fulfilling when such plans succeeded. "Are you hungry? I'm feeling kinda peckish. Why don't we go out to celebrate our victory?" she suggested with a grin. catharsis
