The Samurai is actually atypical to its typical class structure in most games, not being a highly offensive class capable of mass amounts of physical damage. Instead it focuses on defending allies from harm's way and keeping possible escape routes unobstructed should they be needed. While practical in theory, this puts the player in harm's way more times than not, relying on quick reflexes and a calm mind in order to master the class.

If within 5 paces of an ally as they are being attacked, the Samurai may block the blow instantly and take half of the total damage their ally would have taken if struck. This will only work against melee attacks, unable to defend against spells and such. This will also draw aggro to the Samurai from the attacker.

While holding the attention of two or more enemies, the Samurai passively regains health equal to 5% of the combined health total of all enemies targeting them after attacking or using an active skill. This is increased to 25% of the combined health of all enemies targeting them if the Samurai's health drops below 10%.

After making three strikes, the Samurai can unleash a gust of wind from their weapon that travels 20 ft ahead of them in a straight line. Any enemies caught in its path will take wind elemental damage and be knocked up for a short duration before falling back to the ground and being knocked prone. Hayate cannot lift, and therefor cannot knock prone, enemies exceeding a certain weight (HEAVY ARMOR NEGATE, LARGE SIZE+ NEGATE).
