With summer fast approaching, bringing along it's oppressive heat to match, Taurus finds herself, more often than not, wilting under such sultriness. One would think that such a sophisticated game could at least make an attempt to air condition the rooms or something. But alas, they're true to their word when they'd said that the game was highly realistic. If there's anything she misses about her old life on Earth, it was the comfort of knowing that she could walk into any room and feel the breeze of cooled air. She truly didn't realize her luxury until it was gone.
But she digresses.
There's no point in worrying about her past life; what matters is what she does in her current one. No such inconvenience will deter her from the journey ahead. It's why she finds herself in the middle of Gargantua, eyes searching for an elusive dinosaur egg. Word had gotten around that there would be a massive dinosaur race, and she'd hate to miss such an interesting event. She's not one to lay so idle, and had instantly set off to search for a fossil.
However, finding an egg proves harder than she'd originally thought.
Luckily, the Valley of Fallen holds more than enough space for her and other people who've by chance, made their residence here. She leans over, long fingers scraping against bone as she picks up a stray fossil. Upon closer inspection, she sees the holes and divets; the teeth unlike any other animal but a human. Her tongue clicks, and she throws the fake to the side.
"Tch. Not even close."
Luck be damned, she's going to get her egg eventually.

Anyone who knew ZZZ wouldn't be surprised that the defender chose to take on the special event nearing to the deadline. As interesting as it was to own a dinosaur, she was too lazy to ever begin the search. Still, she was a procrastinator, and a true procrastinator will succeed when fueled by a deadline-induced frenzy. She had constantly used shooting star one after the other; its cool-down pretty quick to allow the abuse. Soon enough she had made her way to the Valley of the Fallen. A pile of bones and grass seems like a better place than the previous to find that egg so she could finally call it a day.
Waiting for her skill to be usable once again, the defender decides to take a slower pace, jogging around the area in case she had missed the thing. How big were they even supposed to be? Many years back, she recalls the movie franchise of Jurassic Park, and the size of said dinosaur eggs would roughly be twice her head—probably. She hums at the thought. It's times like this that one could forget how messed up this place truly is—absorbed in the fun as she was.
Enough about that. Her hands swat the imaginary thought bubbles above her head. Finally back to reality, she sees a figure bending down to pick up something. She activates shooting star and makes her way towards the stranger. When she halts, the starchild is careful, stopping a good 3 feet away so she wouldn't accidentally hit the girl. "Boo, that's not it," she says to the object the girl had discarded. She squats, her hand on top of the other other, resting on her knees. ZZZ turns to look up at her companion. "I'm sure you'll get it eventually!"
shooting star increases attack, defense, and speed, when the user is running. the strength of the "impact" after the "fall" depends on the distance from the user and the target. collision damage is dependent on the distance traveled.

Taurus cannot deny that she's late--maybe too late to find a dinosaur egg. There's only days left until the game stop spawning them, and most people have already gotten one at this point. There may be moot point in searching for at this point, but there must be on somewhere. It would be useless to give up when she's already put so much effort into it.
It's not long until she hears bones crunching behind her, and she turns, only to see a player with stars shooting aorund her. Dirt kicks up from each impact, and Taurus watches as she approaches, perplexed. The player feels surprisingly...familiar. And yet, she can safely say that she's never met her before. ZZZ, her player tag, hangs above her head like a halo. An interesting name for an interesting person.
"Ah well...here's to hoping." Taurus responds awkwardly, unsure of how to act towards someone so...cheery. It's not unwanted company by any means; with such a rare item, she'll need all the help she can get. Hands on knees, Taurus seeks to mirror the person in front of her, and squats with a cordial smile.
"Would you like some help?"

She was glad to day the least, that the person she approached was nice enough not to give her the cold shoulder. She admits that her actions can sometimes be uncalled for and not so well received. So when Taurus—which the defender only checks now—bent down beside her, she stared in awe for a good few seconds. How curious, was her thought, all Alice in Wonderland-like. There was something about this one that made the starchild feel nice, lacking a better term to describe her feelings.
The offer wasn't something she was expecting. It was obvious in her eyes, sparkling with gratefulness and excitement. The usually sluggish girl was all giddy; although she's trying very hard not to look like a dog wagging its tail over what's about to come. Her gaze lowers, focusing on a specific blade of grass. It's an attempt to seem aloof but she's clearly smiling behind the hands on her knees, blocking nearly nothing. "Yeah, okay," the words are soft when they leave her lips. ZZZ does another take, this time livelier, "I'd love that!"

At Taurus's offer, ZZZ lowers her gaze and stares at the blade of grass, her face carefully blank. She takes a moment to speak, and when she does, it's as soft as ever. ZZZ's face and voice remain as a blank slate, but Taurus can tell--she's brightened considerably. Maybe it's the way her eyes have a certain glint, or the way she seemed to resist smiling, but Taurus has to admit, she'd like to see that more.
When ZZZ perks up, Taurus can't help but smile too, her expression breaking into a content grin. "Wonderful." She murmurs, straightening. Taurus's gaze lingers on ZZZ's before she turns, heading deeper into the valley, lands unexplored for the most part--if they go far enough, perhaps they'll find eggs untouched by other players.
"Any luck so far, stranger?" She asks. She links her hands behind her back and idly searches for a stray egg. Feet make contact with white stone, and she kicks, only to see that it's bone. In such a place, Taurus wonders if coming here makes it harder to find an egg than any other.
"I've had no such luck...wouldn't it be terrible if there's not enough eggs?"

When Taurus had gone to venture further into the valley, Zee takes that as a sign to stand up and join her. She quickly brushes away the dirt and grass that clung onto her trench coat, turning a few times to check if she got it all. Satisfied with her work, she catches up to the attacker, naturally falling into step with her. "I just started a few minutes ago," her steps become hops while she talked, "so no lu-" A pause.
Despite how messed up this world was, this was a game nonetheless. This little hunt of theirs was an event like any other. Key items like these would have definite spawning spots so that all participating players would be able to receive the event item. It was by sheer coincidence that after Taurus mentioned the supply of dinosaur eggs, Zee already came up with the solution to their problem. "There are enough eggs." The tone in her voice sounding so sure of the odds.
The bubbly starchild had become quiet, and the look in her eyes were serious as they focused on the menu screen that had appeared in front of her. She presses a multitude of buttons and commands, mass messaging the right people who did this type of play-style. From vulture-folk to the informants, both groups and everything in between that she had on her contact list weren't safe from her typing frenzy.
"I got it!" She doesn't explain what exactly did she get, and it would leave anyone to wonder.

zzz is quick to follow her, the sound of her steps approaching as she catches up. taurus, of course, does not mind. when their steps fall into tandem, side by side, taurus can't help but wonder if this is what friendship really feels like. she's had friends, sure, but they have never felt so...different. genuine. and she appreciates that.
her partner hops beside her, her musings half-hearted until she suddenly pauses, her tone certain and eyes sharp. a realization? taurus stops walking and tilts her head quizzically. "there are." she repeats, wondering how zzz could've gotten to a conclusion like that.
her partner hurriedly pulls up her menu. in a rush, her fingers fly over the keyboard, and taurus could barely spare a wink before she's done. zzz looks as if she could barely contain her excitement, and taurus hopes that it's a good sign. she's met crazier people.
"got what....?"

It would seem like Zee had completely ignored the question, walking past Taurus without a single word. She comes around though, quite literally, turning her head back and motioning for the other to follow. While they walked, Zee was still somewhat focused on the floating panels. After a few quick dragging movements, she was finally content with the map view of the area. "Even if this place is downright looney," which was a dreadful truth despite how light and silly her word choices were, "it's still an MMORPG."
She continued to lead them towards a vast area of large rocks and grass. The bones of the dead were also present; overall it looked like a regular area. There was one though that was oddly placed, a severed arm reaching out to the sky. She stops right in front of it and continues explaining. "And because this is still a game," she checks her map and a few of her messages before nodding at the data before her, "we can find key items in places like this one."
She holds onto the hand and pulls on it, like helping someone who has fallen. It's a terrible joke. There's a sound of gears turning, and from a short distance, a supposed regular patch of the area had moved to the side, revealing a hole-slash-nest of eggs. "The extras in case players break or miss the individual ones placed around." And with that, her many windows vanish into bits of data. "First blood's yours!" she says with a huff of confidence—her chest puffed and her head held high. You could almost see a long pointed nose.

Zee doesn't answer her question. Instead, she walks past her, as if in a trance, and with a flicker of her hand, leads her deeper into the cave. At such silence, Taurus does not mind. Her eyes draw to the way her partner drags the floating panels together. A map comes together in front of her, and she sees their pinpoint leading directly to an object she couldn't quite decipher.
It's then that Zee starts to speak, her light voice like an orchestra to her ears. Her explanations make sense--after all, this is still a game. They're players in another world, and luckily for them, the dev gods have decided to take pity on their creations.
"You know where these places are?" Taurus asks, astonishment clear on her voice. She grows silent when Zee suddenly reaches for her hand. Firm yet soft, she's more than inclined to follow the pull. In any other circumstance, she'd hate to be included in such contact, but for some reason, it's different with Zee.
It's not long before they reach a patch of grass, but then the floor beneath them splinters before splitting in half, unveiling a nest of eggs. Gleaming white shells meet the air, and Taurus nearly can't believe that it actually worked.
"...Thank you." She says. Her face breaks into a smile, and she picks up one at random, a small but perfect egg, free from dirt or blemishes. She hugs it to her chest before turning to her partner.
"Good luck!"

That's a load off her shoulders that re-spawning would actually work. Sadly, she has to pay that one particular informant for giving the tip to this place. If only she had found this sooner, she could've been the one gaining the coins. You snooze; you lose—and Zee snoozes quite often. "Not me, but this one guy did," she points to a screen that had just popped out. It was her chat history with Overlordxxx, one of the buggers she knew would be into spending time on this type of gig.
Zee smiles back to her friend, if she could call her that. It's all good anyway since she said the friend-part only in her head. Now, back to business. Being the indecisive type when it comes to rewards, Zee decides to play a game of eenie-meenie before she took hold of one of the eggs. This way there wasn't too much pressure for her brain to guess odds. The game ends and she makes her way to the lucky fella that she'll be taking home. "I guess you're it then," she lightly pats the top of it. Whatever this one was, she hopes she can use it as a makeshift pillow or bed. Yeah, something like that.
Before this day ends, Zee sends a particular invitation to Taurus. The invitation that would confirm if she could say the word "friend" instead of just mentally labeling her as such. "Let's meet again sometime." She looks equal parts embarrassed and awkward before she bolted out of the area.
